An expert on who?

posted at 11:30 am on July 9, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

Gonna be a looooooooong election.  Judge Andrew Napolitano gets this right on Fox & Friends, but someone in the graphics department may get a pink slip:

Maybe it would be a good idea for Fox — and everyone else — to use “bin Laden” rather than “Osama” when talking about the al-Qaeda terrorist. Believe me, as someone who got bit on this one myself, I speak from painful and embarrassing experience.

That’s funny right there, I don’t care who you are.

Buford Gooch on July 9, 2008 at 11:36 AM

The video won’t display, but if the graphics mistake is what I imagine it to be, MSM will use it to beat FNC like a drum.

petefrt on July 9, 2008 at 11:38 AM

foxnews is becoming more facepalm worthy by the day.

thank god for hotair, eh?

That was a slip on the Editors and Producers part.

LMFAO.. you made me spit my coffee out!

upinak on July 9, 2008 at 11:44 AM

Ah, yes. Time for another round of fauxrage. When Kennedy and CNN did it, that was fine. If a righty accidentally gets a single letter wrong in a news cycle that focuses on both men, there’s hell to be payed.

amerpundit on July 9, 2008 at 11:45 AM

The graphics department at Fox News really needs to hire some proof readers.

SoulGlo on July 9, 2008 at 11:45 AM

Don’t worry about your embarrassing experience Ed, I think everybody’s done it twice now.

By the way, the AP now says Turkish police believe Al Qaeda was behind this morning’s attack.

amerpundit on July 9, 2008 at 11:48 AM

Just call Obama “His Holiness,” and no problems. :)

RBMN on July 9, 2008 at 11:48 AM

Folks, this is summertime. They (FNC) have lots of interns.

Sir Napsalot on July 9, 2008 at 11:51 AM

hahaa Sorry..I thought it was funny.:)

becki51758 on July 9, 2008 at 11:52 AM

amerpundit is right – the fauxrage will be noisy and silly

HawaiiLwyr on July 9, 2008 at 11:57 AM

This will be really funny if Obama becomes President and the FoxNews scroll reads: “Osama Takes Oath of Office”

IntheNet on July 9, 2008 at 11:57 AM

Yep. I caught this during F&F this morning. Didn’t think it warranted a mention here though – just another dumbass FNC tard doing what they do best.

Constant poor spelling, mismatched content/context, mismatched video – FNC must be staffed with braindead clusterfucks.

LimeyGeek on July 9, 2008 at 12:00 PM

Maybe they need to have LimeyGeek work for them. I’ll bet he’ll whip FauxNoise into shape.

Or perhaps they should have the RedEye guys on all the time. Then they can blame Schulz…..

I’d burn it to the ground.

LimeyGeek on July 9, 2008 at 12:05 PM

It’s OK, it is an easy mistake to make…..

Think_b4_speaking on July 9, 2008 at 12:06 PM

Fire the idiot. I’m sorry, but this just isn’t real hard to do right. One is a candidate for President, about to be nominated by one of the two parties, and the other is a notorious murderer.

W.T.F.?

Jaibones on July 9, 2008 at 12:09 PM

Such an easy mistake, they will all do it by time the election is over.

right2bright on July 9, 2008 at 12:10 PM

Jaibones on July 9, 2008 at 12:09 PM

Perhaps the guilty party was ‘taught’ english in our fine gubmint school system. After all, there’s only a single letter difference – so they scored 80% on that word…..worthy of a pass in any liberal spelling test.

LimeyGeek on July 9, 2008 at 12:14 PM

I smell a liberal in the production crew. Off with his head.

faraway on July 9, 2008 at 12:16 PM

Too bad McCain is so hell bent on Amnesty. I would support him if he would get off that treasonous kick. I just don’t see why idiots like him think it is a good idea to reward cheating, lying, and stealing.

Obama said his grandfather said Americans can do anything if they put their minds to it. Getting rid of illegal immigrant cheaters should be a top priority in order to restore the rule of law in immigration.

The pandering is unforgivable here by both candidates, and I hope someone steps up to give me another choice for POTUS. I can’t help any candidate shove amnesty down my throat.

saiga on July 9, 2008 at 12:17 PM

Osama / Obama / so easy to confuse the two.
.
Maybe we could just use Hussein….well, maybe not.

How come this guy has so many names just like America’s biggest enemies.

Inane questions like this are the lubricant facilitating America’s slide into the abyss.

There are plenty of questions that show what a disater an Obama administration would be.

Right_of_Attila on July 9, 2008 at 12:48 PM

Typos are for liberals. We conservatives are heartless, anal, war-mongerers.

faraway on July 9, 2008 at 12:50 PM

Ted Kennedy started it

Right_of_Attila on July 9, 2008 at 12:48 PM

You betcha. Blathering on about bullshit like his bloody names is ‘American Idol’ in its banality…..yet the very presence of such questions provides sad commentary about our society’s shallow thinking skills.

LimeyGeek on July 9, 2008 at 12:56 PM

Expect see much more of this and sorry conspiracy people.
I work in television and this is being written by a 23 year old just out of college who probably could not find Pakistan or Chicago on a map but scored a cool summer job at a TV station.

RobCon on July 9, 2008 at 1:09 PM

Rob, they should be fired. It’s a simple job for a college grad. I think a 10 year old could probably do it.

faraway on July 9, 2008 at 1:17 PM

Only Ted Kennedy gets a pass on that, I suppose

Hening on July 9, 2008 at 1:33 PM

faraway on July 9, 2008 at 1:17 PM

But they felt that the spelling was correct, which counts for something, right?

LimeyGeek on July 9, 2008 at 1:33 PM

This is important.

Metro on July 9, 2008 at 1:38 PM

Now you can bet that if there on any other station, like PMSNBC or CNN, everyone would give it nary a notice. But because it was on Fox News, you can bet Darth Soros’ lap dog of evil known as Media Matters is jumping all over this one like boy scouts jumping all over a campfire!

Osama/Obama ehhh.. same difference both will destroy the economy..

Chakra Hammer on July 9, 2008 at 4:45 PM

Point well taken, there-

But uh, I thought it was Fox News all along which spelled bin Laden’s name “Usama”?

localmalcontent on July 9, 2008 at 5:16 PM

All this noise over one letter. Not worth it. Big Deal. Who cares. On the other hand I can see how easy it is to confuse the two. Osama wants to destroy America. Obama wants to destroy change America. Osama wants us to lose our ability to defend ourselves. Obama wants us to stop clinging to our rights guns. See a pattern here? It’s not that big of a mistake if you ask me.

Guardian on July 9, 2008 at 5:23 PM

The only difference is a little bs.

brtex on July 9, 2008 at 5:29 PM

Both hate America and hang around with other people who hate America and who bomb U.S. government installations, so how can anyone be expected to tell them apart?

Is one of them taller?

Fox has done this so many times it’s getting to be a bit obvious they do it just to be a**holes.
