We all know the right won’t hesitate to piss all over General Petraeus if he fails to spout Republican talking points once he retires in a few months.
Just like they did to Gen. Clark.
Praise from the right is meaningless…

Amen mav... Give credit where credit is due. I remember the days when Bob Hope would put together some of the greatest acts of the day, and fly them around the world to entertain our troops while showing his great love and admiration for our warriors. Big contrast between those days and these days; which is why Hollywood is now seen by millions of Americans as elitist ugly ungrateful spoiled brat Liberal weenies, led by the likes of Streisand and Spielberg. To hell with this generation of movie critters. If Jolie can shed some light on her fellow actors, good for her!

General P deserves a hero's welcome as a great American leader in an era of Murtha & Clark. If anybody doubted the brainlessness of the American left, one only needs to remember the General "betray us" ad that was so popular with the lefties that post here. Foreign news outlets are now recognizing General P for his greatness, while American news outlets continue to make believe General P doesn't exist.

Very telling indeed!

Times Online, James Hider in Bagdad mentioning O'Reilly's name,

whether it was really O'Reilly who drew large crowds or other radio personalities might be a point to consider--

is O'Reilly the only name James Hider wanted to name?

did O'Reilly really show up in Iraq and draw matching crowds?--if he went, more power to the guy, regardless of the size of crowd he drew or how feeble his conservative twist is at home.

have other hosts like Hannity or Savage visited the troops in Iraq? They do a lot of good publicity and fund raising stateside for our troops, which is wonderful.

ps: that Jolie extends effort for our troops is worth appreciating. She is no saint, but a mere mortal who cares enough about what she cares about to DO what she can. Those who would defame her efforts to do good work lack the balls to go themselves to serve our troops in Iraq personally.

Thank God for all good things, large and small.

I just hope that, given the media's non-attention to Petraeus' and our military's progress, that the voters remember that this is not American Idol; that this election is about something other than "stage presence" and catchphrases.

Good night all. (Getting late here on the East Coast.)

Absolutely, but more than just weak kneed, one that hates America, loathes the Military, religiously promotes racism in America and who's wife and children are protege's for the new America vision that Democrats want to exhume as their vision of American values.

It is a very dangerous world, and we need to be prepared for a long struggle.

Both at home and abroad.

With democrats like Reid, Pelosi, Murtha and Durbin dismissing the military, denigrating the military, dismissing and calling the military lairs, murders and rapist, Al Qaeda may be the least of our short term problems, but our near time problems.

In this elections season...., vote to change the status quo of liberal losers and rino wantabee's

Office? Love the man but be careful what you wish for…he might be a democrat.

If Democrats hand any reasoning ability, they would have actually researched the true and factual conditions in Iraq and then wooed General Petraeus. Instead, the left slandered him before he gave his report.

Personally, I think the Democrats new of the conditions in Iraq, but felt it was necessary to carry on the facade of loosing the war to save face with the American Public or the inability to give President Bush any credit what so ever.

Furthermore, if a group of politicians treated me in like manner, even if I was a democrat, I would change affiliation.

Though I understand where you are coming from, things have shifted. When AQI was in the news, killing Americans, that drove recruiting. Now, they see defeat. Who wants to be part of defeat? The ones that are doing it now, have no where else to turn, they are in it to the death.

I think the radicals are calmer. The weekly demonstration dont happen anymore. Think about the Islamic movie Wilder did, nothing happened. There is a shift, and it is not a small shift, it is a major shift.

I agree that the tide has turned on the face of it. But don't forget that there is still a committed core of Al Quaeda and others who will stop at nothing to inflict terror and pain on "the Great Satan".

A lot of these haters of the West have been indoctrinated from birth, and the next generation is on the way.

I don't want to denigrate our successes in any way, but when I read some of the celebratory comments, I am reminded that we must not let our guard down and remember that this is a tenacious adversary and one that is motivated by a perverted belief system that glorifies suicide and the slaughter of innocents.

This fanatic jihadi movement will ultimately have to be confronted and defeated in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Algeria, Somalia and elsewhere. It is imperative that they gain no traction in any of these places, Pakistan most of all.

It is a very dangerous world, and we need to be prepared for a long struggle.
