Finally. Can we start naming some grand square in Bagdad after George W. Bush?

Meanwhile, Maliki wants to cut and run:

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki raised the prospect on Monday of setting a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops as part of negotiations over a new security agreement with Washington.

McCain needs to get out in front of this, not so much to claim credit for suggesting the surge, but to give credit to Petraeus and Bush for following the strategy, as well as to Maliki for (finally) coming through when given the chance.

Then he needs to run a "what if" scenario about "what if" we had followed Mr. Judgment to Lead's strategy of pulling all our troops out between January 2007 and March 2008, BEFORE the Anbar Awakening and the victories in Diyala and BEFORE Maliki had the courage to taken on Sadr in Basra and Sadr City (with our help)--how many Iraqi civilians would have been killed by Al Qaeda and Sadr and the Iranians by now? Vietnam, only replace Saigon by Baghdad and the Vietcong by Iran?

Then ask who do we want answering the White House phone at 3 AM when Iran starts to attack, McCain, or the guy who answered "That's me!" when President Bush said that "some people" think they can talk terrorists into backing down?

New thinking and change is long past due! Seven plus years of same olde, same olde, just doesn’t make it any mo!

I would prefer that Sen. Obama spend the next seven years plus studying and reading before he proposes any more "changes".

AQ in Iraq [AQI] are but a minor inconvenience, basically a burr under the blanket. To be a successful guerilla force they must “swim among the people like fish in the sea”. None of the real players in this game give a damn about "them ferners"! Just as they give a damn about US.

As I have posted yea these many months, years even. It’s the Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds, now there’s the rub, folks… You only dismiss 1500 years of animosity, mayhem, murder and religious feuding at your peril.

Those particular problems will persist if we stay there till hell freezes over; as Saint Mc has defined his approach to the war…

Both Osama AND Obama have gotten their chestnuts roasted over the hot coals in Iraq!

Hey Barry Hussein, it looks like the US and Iraqi militaries are effecting change in Iraq and giving hope to Iraqis! Too bad it is not the hope and change you've been spraying; which is neither for them. Not to worry though I hear your friends down in Columbia, you know FARC, are still trying to promote your brand of hope and change....sorry to hear about their recent setbacks though. Perhaps a change in uniform would help lift their spirits. Have them try these on:

This is awesome news.

I am almost in disbelief as to how well Iraq is going these days.

WisCon on July 7, 2008 at 1:05 AM

I have to say I agree 100%.

I was never a particularly strong supporter of this war, although I do understand in theory why it had to be done. I still wonder in looking back at this war (which unfortunately isn't over yet, we've fucked up the end game before)and examining it from a historical perspective, if we can see where we did go wrong. There were mis-steps, there were things that certainly could have been done better, and although we may need to take an evening to celebrate, unfortunately, in this climate, I'm afraid the next morning it will be back to the war room...and hopefully we will have learned a thing or 2 about fighting this kind of war in this region.

I'll say now what I said at the beginning...Shock and Awe all the time. Always with an overwhelming presence of military might. That is how you control the theater, that is how you win wars.

Great. Now we can get back to that pesky resurgent Taleban that we routed several years ago.

I wonder how long we will play monkey in the middle between Iraq and Afghanistan for the Mohammedans?

That is because the so-called media believe themselves to be FAIR already. Otherwise, we would have gotten Air America type to represent the libs, Murtha/Pelosi type the middle, and Hillary as the representation on the right.

Anybody doesn't fit into this mold is on the 'far-right'.

Why is no one propsing a fairness doctrine for print and television media...make it illegal for the fear peddling, hate mongering, racist, sexist liberal media not to offer as many positive stories as negative ones. See Becker http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS_O-BOYsBs ...this should be assigned watching for all liberals.

This is good news, but I'm suspicious of how easy they roled into Mosul.

The 12k count of AQI was from gathered intel and based on the number of AQI killed and captured its a conservative number. Just read the MNF-I website and there are a couple others keeping count.

I have been saying for months that the bad guys are all done and that our guys are mopping them up. They will continue to do so.

Now if we had only managed to do this a couple years ago.

It's time to Gloat.

Every single one of us, who have been supporting this War since the very beginning need to now STAND UP and LAUGH IN THE FACES OF EVERYONE WHO EVER DOUBTED THE AWESOME MIGHT OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY.

I resigned my position as Senior Aide to US Congressman Ron Paul in 2003, over his opposition to the War in Iraq. My boss of 12 years was vehemently opposed to Bush's intervention and to even fighting back against Al Qaeda.

I feel greatly, greatly vindicated. Yes, it was a little shaky there for a while, 2005/2006/early 2007. It looked like we might be defeated and that the Leftists would be proven right that the War was a "Disaster." But now the tables have turned.

Everyone here at HotAir.com, find your nearest Leftist (and even those in the Anti-War wing of the libertarian and isolationist paleo-conservative movements), and SCREAM AND YELL AT THEM AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE: YOU WERE WRONG!! Patreaus was right. The Surge worked. We've won the War in Iraq, and what a GLORIOUS AND SWEET VICTORY IT IS!!!

P.S. Newsbusters is reporting this morning that even John Murtha has finally admitted that he was wrong, and the War in Iraq is "going well."

On the cusp of the “most spectacular” victory against Al-Qaeda

Bill and Ted's Most Spectacular Adventure

Al-Qaeda’s dwindling band of fighters has made a defiant “last stand” ...

And may they all die a horrible death, huddled together in one house, knowing allah has betrayed them. One JDAM and it's all over.

A huge operation to crush the 1,200 fighters who remained from a terrorist force once estimated at more than 12,000 began on May 10.

Wow, from 12,000 down to 1,200? And the Donks declare this war 'lost'? Judgement we can believe in?

Operation Lion’s Roar, in which the Iraqi army combined forces with the
Americans’ 3rd Armoured Cavalry Regiment,

Go Limey Jr.!

... has already resulted in the death of Abu Khalaf, the Al-Qaeda leader, and the capture of more than 1,000 suspects.

What? CAPUTERED? I thought islamic 'warriors' prefer death?

If Obama,Mr. Change,Mr. Hope,Mr. superior judgment, had gotten his way by leaving Saddam in power and then when the war seemed lost voting against the surge, there would be no:

Victory against al-qaeda in their central front on the War
on Terror(and please don't trot out that tired line about
al-qaeda not being there until we got there.Zarqawi was there and had already launched attacks against Jordan from Iraq before we invaded).

Victory against Sadr's militia.

Political and Social reconciliation between Shia,Sunni, and Kurds.

90% decrease in violence.

Economic progress in oil contracts and other local business's.

Millions of Iraqi children and women going to school who had no opportunity to get an education under Saddam.

Hospitals, water treatment plants, electricity and other basic services for ALL of Iraq instead of just Baghdad and the Sunni Triangle.

Ending Hundreds of Thousands of Iraqis Tortured, raped, and mass graves filled with victims of Saddams wars, and use of WMDs.

Iraq no longer maintaining their WMD program waiting for the UN to back off so that they could reconstitute their biological and chemical arsenal.

Iraq no longer funding and supporting terrorism world wide.

Iraq now an ally with the west in the War on Terror instead
of a major player in world wide terrorism.

If the anti-war democrats like Obama had their way,Saddam would be more powerful and dangerous than ever.

If the democrats that voted for war than sold out their country and stabbed the American Soldier in the back for political advancement had their way of immediate withdrawal and opposing the surge (Obama again),than al-qaeda and Iran
would be celebrating their victory against America in Iraq.

Let there be no doubt,Obama and his democratic idiots in Congress possess neither the leadership or judgment to run this country and make competent foreign policy decisions.

Since technology has made it impossible to have unknown soldiers anymore and therefore monuments to them, we may have to switch to building monuments to the Unknown Victory, the ones the media refuses to acknowledge no matter how obvious it becomes.
