The first thing I thought of when I saw the headline was that it was too bad that this wasn’t announced the day Ted Kenney had his “stroke”/tumor – that was the immature childish side. The adult side of me cheered. How much conversation went on today with congressional leaders to discuss the fairness doctrine. Does anyone know how difficult it is to hold hearings on the Hill? Who brought in the baseball players? Is it just the committee chairman that can do it or the Leader, or majority of the committee? Without trying to compare different hosts, can you imagine the lineup for testimony? Thought for the day. With all respect to all of them, Rush should open or close, and Mark Levin should do the one that Rush doesn’t. And then the others in the middle. With Michael Savage serving hot dogs to his audience at the Washington Monument to all 6 of his listeners.
And for those of you who think for one second that Rush getting $60K per hour is a little high, how much do you think all of those stations bring in in ad revenue for that same hour. I could argue that $60K could actually be a bargain for them.
And with the taxes that Rush has to pay now, the Iraqis should have a Rush Holiday since he can actually pay for an entire day of the war. So thanks Rush, for doing your fair share. For the Medicare and Social Security too. Absolutely crazy that one person has to pay as much as this no matter how much he makes.
Now we just need someone to do the math on the carbon footprint on this contract. I hope he buys a 767 to fly around in, a air tanker so he never has to land, and a C-5 to haul an entire fleet of Maybachs.
Good for you Rush. I’ll be looking for the 8 year Rush 24/7 subscription. God Bless.

Speaking as a fan of Limbaugh’s who has listened to Hannity enough to know the differences quite well, truer words have rarely been spoken. Hannity is not in the same league.

But, also, Rush is not the performer he once was, and not by a long shot.

Hey, HotAirJosef: in fairness, the NYT article did not mention the mega bucks that Rush donates to some of the causes you mention. However, I hope that you will apply the same standards for contributions vs salary to Kennedy, Kerry, Pelosi, Reid, and other Libs? As has been said: conservatives contribute with their OWN money…Libs use OUR money.

Congratulations to Rush on staying true to himself for almost 20 years on national radio. Even early on (~1990), he was always upfront and honest about his mission — to attract the largest audience and hold it for the longest time (the “confiscatory ad rates” shtick was added later) — and that’s what he’s done.

What pisses the Libs off is that Rush did it on his own and did not/does not need a government handout…if too many people do that then they won’t need to be beholden to the Libs.

He makes the $ because he produces…his advertisers must see an increase in their bottom line because of his ads or they would not pay, as he calls it, his confiscatory rates. Oops, another Lib sticking point: he produces. Compare that to NPR…that us taxpayers fund.

I think the NYT article is great…I’m amazed.

I had meetings today, so I didn’t get to listen to my local station’s internet stream during most of Rush’s show today, but I did hear him rant a bit about NBC being so off their rockers and threatening to buy them to clean house over there. That was a priceless quip today.

I am a 24/7 member and have been for years. I sent him a congratulatory email. I love great big income for self made success stories, particularly when they had to make their own way to that success. I was very surprised that NY Times article was not a hit piece. It was very informative but it didn’t piss me off, either, so I was very surprised at that. I would have liked to have seen some interior shots of his house, or even an exterior picture. It would be great if they profiled his house in MTV cribs!! haha

Hannity gets on my nerves. He seems to end every sentence with the word “here.” I wish someone would tell him to cut that out. He constantly interrrupts callers. Rush, on the other hand, sometimes lets his liberal callers rant for ages.
Levin is just too rude to his callers. Yes, i know liberals are a pain in the ass, but Levin is over the top. “Get off the phone, you big dope!” has gotten a little old.
