The obligatory “British Muslims object to police ad featuring puppy” post

Outrageously outrageous etc, but do note that there’s exactly one source for the supposed disgruntlement among Muslims over the police ad. How widespread is the anti-assimilationist sentiment in this case, really? It’s not an idle question: Revisit these two posts about well-meaning Britons yanking “The Three Little Pigs” from classrooms to protect delicate Muslim sensibilities, only to be reassured that not all Muslim sensibilities are quite so delicate as that.
The choice of image on the Tayside Police cards – a black dog sitting in a police officer’s hat – has now been raised with Chief Constable John Vine…
Dundee councillor Mohammed Asif said: ‘My concern was that it’s not welcomed by all communities, with the dog on the cards.
‘It was probably a waste of resources going to these communities.
‘They (the police) should have understood. Since then, the police have explained that it was an oversight on their part, and that if they’d seen it was going to cause upset they wouldn’t have done it.’…
Councillor Asif said: ‘People who have shops just won’t put up the postcard. But the police have said to me that it was simply an oversight and they did not seek to offend or upset.’
Has the requisite pro forma apology been issued yet? Oh, you’d better believe that it has.

It’s the fact it’s a black dog. Mohammed called them the devil and ordered them killed.
Ritual uncleanliness of dogs is exactly the same as non-Muslims. So it’s pretty obvious where this is headed.

Sounds to me like an activist type looking for something to be offended by in order to “raise awareness”. I have to think that the average Muslim thinks this is pretty absurd as well- a couple of comments to the linked article bear that out. It’s not like there aren’t any dogs in Muslim countries.

I find it strange that muslims look down on dogs like this–especially because Berber tribes and other nomadic Muslims still use Salukis and Afghan hounds as a main hunting and tracking source. These dogs are legendary–the Saluki is an ancient dog, probably the first domesticated animal an Earth.

Dogs have a natural instinct that allows them to instantly read the character of any person. They know if you’re good or bad, and will react accordingly.
Could this be why Muhammad hated dogs?
