Obama got to be a US senator without hardly getting his hands dirty. In that race in the dem primary he was, after some technical ballot challenges to his opponents, unopposed, while he ran against a very weak repub candidate in the general, Alan Keyes. Wouldn’t he like to beat McCain the same way, with some rhetoric, sleight of hand, a smile, and a little audacious hope? Now, at times, Obama seems like such a very weak candidate. When confronting an issue, he looks down, hems and haws, duh, uh, uh, and then regurgitates some meaningless pablum which splits the baby in two to show what a fair, honest, and good man he is. I don’t see how anyone can see his schtick as acceptable anymore.

This whole thing is so transparent…if you stand back and look at the pattern. Many are saying Clark, Beers, et al are “stepping on Obama’s message” of honoring McCain’s military service.

But it’s more calculated than that. Surrogates knock McCain’s military service, ensuring it will become a news topic for several days. Obama’s surrogates slip and slide as to whether Obama supports what they said. BUT the mantra that runs through their appearances is that “McCain’s military service has nothing to do with qualifications to be president”. It’s repeated ad nauseum…with the comfortable knowledge that the MSM eventually picks up a Dem talking point as if it were a fact.

Before long we will begin to see news articles describing McCain’s military service as “controversial”.

Obama’s strategy is to diminish the main criteria that elevates McCain over Obama. Once military experience is diminished, we’re left with two senators. And, before long, the new argument will be that one of those senators (McCain) has been in Washington too long.

It’s a two-sided sword. First diminish the military service then disqualify his Senate service.

Isn’t it obvious?!

He’s already backing off his faux repudiation of Wesley Clark, saying it was not his (Obama’s) intention to criticize Clark’s comment at all, the speech was written months ago, etc., etc., etc.

If you really think about it, McCain is playing a smart and clever game. He allows B.O. to send out his minions like Clark and Webb, have them launch personal attacks against McCain and wind up making complete asses out of themselves in the press, leaving B.O. in the uncomfortable position of denouncing what they said and basically tossing them under the bus in the process. If this keeps up, by the time the conventions roll around, B.O. will have everyone who was supporting him piled up under the bus, his public opinion numbers pretty much in the toilet, his chances of getting elected in November sailing out the window, and McCain will have said nary a negative word the entire time.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean is calling Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain out on the controversial North Carolina GOP ad which tries to link two Democratic candidates in the state to Democrat Sen. Barack Obama’s by now infamous preacher Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Dean is framing it as a test of McCain’s leadership, basically saying, if he can’t get people affiliated with his presidential campaign in North Carolina to not run an ad, how can he run the country?

Time to throw it back in their faces?

If the qualifier for a campaign condoning a smear is someone associated with the campaign making a statement, then those Cunningham “BHO” comments should count against McCain if those comments he starts his article off with are fair to attach to Obama. Obama has been very good about rebuking any attacks on McCain’s military service, almost every public appearance he’s made he’s made a point of this. Both rebuke smears and attacks, but apologies are only genuine when they come from John? And if you’re pointing to Obama not being able to control his colleagues, it was McCain who claimed he shouldn’t be held accountable for the coming 527′s, or even the actions of individual state GOP organizations, like with those ads in March.

Obama’s handlers are smooth. Get the narravtive set before the 4th, that when most of the country will conpletely tune politics out. Underscore the narrative with smears. The solidify them pre and post debate and get a media lackey to try and test McCain. Obama is SLIMEY. McAin came out and denounced the type of nonsense Obama does not have time to address.
