If Harry Reid crossed party lines to vote for Mitt Romney I would say the same thing I’m saying about Powell. I would say Reid was motivated by the religion they share.

Black conservatives (the majority not all but a lot) I believe will vote for Obama because he’s black. Plus with Obama tacking so far to the right now, it will be even harder for them to vote for McCain.

Powell is a man without a home. Armitage burned his credibility in the Plame fiasco. The only thing he offers Obama is the visual image of senior black leadership.

Don’t kid yourself. Powell, who thinks very highly of himself, was humiliated after the yellowcake incident. He had opposed invading Iraq (as he did before Gulf War I, until Saddam marched into Kuwait while Powell was busy building up forces in Saudi Arabia). He felt, wrongly, that Bush and Cheney had manipulated him and injured his dignity. Armitage took revenge for his boss by stirring up the Plame controversy.

This has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with Powell’s glorified image of himself.

So because a majority of blacks vote Democrat that means that every single black votes Democrat? I’m not following you here. Regardless of the candidate 85%+ of blacks in America vote Democrat; would you say the same thing about Powell if there was a white Democratic candidate and it was likely 90% of blacks would vote for him/her?

My guess that it would close to 90% of blacks in America that will vote for Obama in November (unless a past affair with a white woman springs up out of nowhere) Otherwise the black community is in lock step to vote for Obama.

Colin Powell while an honorable fellow, wasn’t know for his strong conservative values or really was only a quasi-GOP star. I agree with AP, it would be more of a surprise if Colin Powell backed McCain.

On a serious note, you’re great. Believe it or not, I do understand you. You have no idea how much fun I have with people as the days are long. It’s incredibly rewarding to be different/unique, if one is secure.

He’s proved himself poor at warfare (the shameful and unnecessary aftermath of the First Iraq War- vaporously called “The Gulf War”- which necessitated the Second Iraq War ), lousy at intelligence estimating (WMD speech at UN), a bad judge of character (Armitage), and indecisive about what he wants (McCain? Obama?)

Barry’s got plenty of room under his Trailways.

The Republican party needs to champion black conservatives and help them in the above mission.

Stop pandering to them as a group and start appealing to them as individuals. They don’t need the party, the party needs them.

As much as I loathe race-baed biases in favor or against anyone, in my personal life I really really like to have fun with racial reality.

I always get a kick out of explaining away the fears about Republicans to ultra-liberal whites and watching them deflate with confusion at the black man waiving a Constitution at them. Generally blacks are not as entertaining of converts, but hey good times are had by all….meaning me.

I personally think that collectively there is something about having lots of black people on your side that is just cool. I agree that it sucks that as conservative as most are, fewer blacks bet on red.

Blacks are no longer the majority of the minority. It’s the Latinos. In a few years all this will not matter any more. One day, hopefully sooner than later, all groups will be more informed and more liberated from all parties.

Not to me or perhaps you. However, It will to a hell of a lot of independents and those on the proverbial fence.

We talk about it, often, to no avail. They even agree on most of the issues with the conservative side, but when it comes down to it, it is what it is. It no loger puzzles me, or it does, but I’ve given up on it.

I don’t think that CF said that. The stats speak for themselves, dearest TRC. I don’t understand the stats at all, given the history of the dems, but I have given up on them (the 90+%) – it is what it is – all should deal with it.

Dem primary: Didja see where 90% of blacks voted for Bambi, while 55% of whites voted for Hillary? And that proved that whites are racist. And blacks get away with a lot more racism than whites do.
