Any serious criticism of Iran makes things marginally easier for hawks, therefore there shall be no serious criticism of Iran.

This annoys me. The same is done with Iraq. It rather suggests a weakness of principles. If invading Iran is a bad idea, it’s a bad idea no matter what they’re doing to homosexuals. If the war in Iraq is expensive, unnecessary, and harmful to our foreign relations, it’s a bad idea no matter how much violence has dropped. If they had any balls they’d just say “to hell with pragmatism” and actually stick to their principles. It might not get them very far — the masses are drunk with foolish pragmatism — but at least they wouldn’t be apologists for what is objectively evil.

As a signatory to the treaty governing the development of nuclear weapons, Iran has done nothing wrong under it either, at least according to the watchdog maintained by the international community, the IAEA.

Now, that is passing a “Global Test.” NOT!

With all due respect, I have a lot more confidence in Israel’s ability and willingness to destroy most of Iran, than in Iran vaporizing anything.

I could be wrong, but Iran seems more likely to aim at Israel and hit Lahore than Tel Aviv. The good news for Lahore is that they seem unlikely to make a functioning nuke in the first place. The bad news for Tehran is that Pakistan knows how.
