Hitchens isn’t wrong on any of those points.

But — like the vast majority of us here — in the end, he’s probably going to suck it up and vote for McCain.

And he’ll find a way to justify it to himself.

Forgot, Mr. Hitchens is not a “loser”. I’m very happy he lives and writes in my time. I’m also very happy that he became a U.S. citizen. This is the perfect country for him, at this stage in his life.

He’s not stupid, au contraire. He has balls of steel. I commented often why I believe this, and it goes beyond his punditry, and the ones he has in his claws.

Even though the GOP is comatose and ready for the plug to be pulled I don’t see why anyone could consider Hitchens anything but an azzclown. I’m also unsure exactly how he can be viewed a “conservative”. Anyone ready to stack him up against the Goldwater standard?

Here is another issue that i agree with Hitchens haters on. My theory is that his parents did a terrible job of raising him (neglect and/or abuse) and therefore he decided that God doesn’t exist. (If his parents didn’t love him, God doesn’t either and no one should believe the lie as well)…Besides, he’s just too smart to think that there could be a higher power anyway. As a matter of fact, I think that he’s too smart to be sober, and content to be breathing the same air as the common dolts all the time.

I love Christopher as I would a crazy brother, and I have at least one…If it weren’t for people like him, Mark Levin, Barbara Olsen, Lucianne Goldberg and several others I saw and read on MSNBC and online during the late 90’s, I would be a lonely and frustrated Clinton loather lost in confusion of the Center. These people helped me abandon the Left slowly but surely, and become a conservative, with facts to back up my loathing and change of political view.
I don’t agree with many things he says (he’s no conservative) but it certainly was fun to hear him rip these people. I do agree that the ‘elected officials’ of the Repub Party are rabid dogs, but I don’t believe in the death penalty in their case; it’s too good for them. Shame on him for insinuating that he approves of outright murder, masquerading as compassion. ;-)

I use to watch Hitchens and his brother debate. His brother is a conservative but remained in Britian. The odd thing is that his brother is very much against the war. It’s a tops-turvy world. That being said,at least when you listen to him debate, his arguements usually have meat and I understand where his opinions come from. Not so much in this interview, where it appeared to be only critisim. They have to edit him, he will go on forever. He’s on Hugh Hewitt’s show pretty often. Very funny.

I noticed the interviewers only laughed when Hitchens was attacking McCain and the GOP. What a surprise.
I’ve followed Hitchens career closely over the years since I arrived in this country (I’m from across the pond too, but from Wales, so my accent is much different to Hitchens’)
Hitch has moved further to the right as he’s got older (he’s 59 now). It was a long journey; he started out as a Trotskyite. You can’t get much more left wing than that.
He spent some of his teenage years in Cuba. He was a big fan of Fidel and Che. Not anymore.
Give it a few more years and Hitch will be blogging on Hot Air.

Hitchens: the only left-wing pundit and essayist left on earth with an ounce of reason, a dash of class, actual wit and hasn’t totally devolved into an irrational blathering troglodyte.

If you haven’t read Nobody Left to Lie To, I highly recomend it. It’s probably the most accurate assesment of the Clinto years ever written.

Also, there’s something refreshing about a pundit who doesn’t seem to particularly like anybody in public office and holds an equal ammount of contempt for the current state of the two major parties.

Beats listening to guys like Hannity and Colmes slobber all over themselves yelling “Rah rah for OUR guys! Boo hiss to YOURS!”

I’m no fan of leftism, and I’m sure there are more than a few issues that Hitch and I would simply agree to disagree on, but one thing we seem to share is an absolute loathing for the current two party system’s main antagonists and a common reckoning that no matter whether it’s a (D) or an (R) next to the person’s name, odds are, they’re not in the buisness of serving anyone but themselves.

I’d go him one further though: both the Democratic Party and GOP need to be taken out behind the barn for the “Old Yeller Special”.

As far as political parties go, it’s time to either get two new ones or, better still, heed the advice of George Washington himself and not divide ourselves along partisan lines and rather seek a common ground upon which to work as nothing more than The American People as a people.

I became a fan of Hitchen’s when the intellectual elite turned quickly against the war in Iraq and Hitch was one of the few voices of sanity. I concur, and furthermore, I must admit that I can't honestly disagree with anything he said in that interview.

Someone recently told me he’s a good blues singer and it’s a well kept NYC secret. He allegedly sounds like a cross between Robert Plant and John Mayall when he has enough booze in him to get up in front of a karaoke machine and an audience and do Since I’ve Been Loving You and Black Dog.

I’d pay to see it….
