The fact is that your average Wal-Mart shopper believes that Democrats are “for the people” and the GOP is “for the rich”.

I heard it said once that if democrats are for the poor people and repubs are for the rich, I want to be among the rich. Therefore I'm a republican. Why vote for somebody who's going to keep me poor?

The best thing about people who don't vote is that they give more power to those who do.

Case in point: on June 17, there was a referendum on our town budget, provoked by a taxpayer group angry about the proposed 7% hike in property taxes (after many tax hikes in previous years). The proposed budget was rejected (NO on the referendum) by 65.5% of the votes cast, which represented only 19% of the registered voters in the town.

Of course, this town holds its municipal elections in odd years (when there are no Congressional or Presidential elections), with turnout similar to the referendum, and they keep electing Democrat majorities, who repeatedly propose huge tax hikes that get voted down in referendums. And 70% of the voters don't care. What's wrong with this picture?

Democracy is great. People who really don’t care who wins, and people whose candidates must be ideologically indistinguishable from their own beliefs automatically remove themselves from the process.

Sorry you have a problem with Walmart shoppers Cap.

In a normal election year this may be true but this year we are in "The Age of Obama" and I fear that a great many of those that don’t care about politics, society or the future of the country will vote because BO represent their utopian fantasy for, well I'm not really sure because I don't think they even know. They just "KNOW" voting for BO is the "RIGHT" thing to do and I fear that they will vote in great numbers to prove how wonderful they are. I expect to see lots of people proudly displaying their bumper stickers, buttons and flags as they proclaim "Yes I did" for a long time after BO wins. Voting for BO will be the new measure or everything they hold rightous and those that did will want to proclaim it to the whole world.

This is dead-on. Terrifyingly dead-on. The fact is that your average Wal-Mart shopper believes that Democrats are "for the people" and the GOP is "for the rich". Get enough morons to vote and it's no wonder that the Dems can continue to win elections with positions that are truly, truly asinine. I've always been in favor of iq tests so as to be eligible to vote.

You must admit: the cackle, the cankles, the pandering, the phony "I know you!" expressions, the tears, the shrill screech. They are all sorely missed.

Please, Hillary, don't leave us in our darkest hours...

Cracking up at the next paragraph

With few exceptions, white people are actually fond of almost any dictator not named Hitler, and your remark that “this is just like something Mao Zedong would do” will be met with blank stares and possible social alienation. This is because, with the exception of Hitler, oppressive dictators share a passion for many of the things white people love- such as universal health care, conspiracy theories, caring about poor people while being filthy rich, and cool hats. Stick to the script and compare things you don’t like to Hitler, and Hitler alone.

All you need to know about politics.

Being a truly advanced white person means being able to speak with authority about pretty much any field of conversation- especially politics. In order for white people to streamline the process of knowing everything, all human beings can be neatly filed into one of two categories: People I Agree With, and People Who are Just Like Adolf Hitler.
