The Move America Forward challenge!

While watching the ground-breaking live Internet broadcast of Move America Forward today, you can keep track of the progress we make towards our goal of $500,000 in donations for supplies to our troops.  This handy widget will update constantly during the day today, showing the amount we’ve raised and how far we have to go:

This is brought to us by our good friend Rob Nepell at Kithbridge, the consulting firm that assists corporate entities in building their Internet presence.

Michelle notes that we already have some significant progress on fundraising, from an unsurprising source:

Sean Hannity announced yesterday that he’s personally donating $15,000 to the From the Frontlines effort. Awesome. Here’s my challenge to regular readers and commenters of this site and Hot Air. At the end of the web-a-thon, I’d like to see you collectively match that donation. Can you take up the challenge and make a pledge? Can you all help me walk the troop-supporting walk and raise $15,000 by the end of the night? Can we do it? Yes, you can.

You can sponsor a care package right here, with items ranging from $15.99 to $899.99.

The First Mate and I have already sent our $149 care package to the troops.   That’s 1% of the Hot Air/MM goal already!  I know we can push that past 100% by the end of the broadcast at midnight tonight.  Let’s get it started early today — and be back here at 4 pm ET for the Move America Forward broadcast, right here at Hot Air.

How do we let them know we are HA donors?

davidk on June 26, 2008 at 8:34 AM

G-d Bless you, Ed.

The wife and I are trying to get some of the sailors to help our Marine Brothers out with a mass Navy donation.

I just purchased the $899.99 pack.

D2Boston on June 26, 2008 at 8:43 AM

What the…?

I keep on getting a transaction declined.

Anyone else having problems?

Yakko77 on June 26, 2008 at 9:22 AM

I’ve just purchased the $149.99 Goodies from Home Squad pack.

Come on, people, let’s get cracking!

rmgraha on June 26, 2008 at 9:44 AM

I had no problem getting the transaction to take.
I couldn’t do much, but we all need to do what we can.

michaelo on June 26, 2008 at 9:56 AM

Squad bonus pack on the way out the door. C’mon people “Get er done!”

Simonsez on June 26, 2008 at 10:04 AM

Gosh – they’re halfway to the goal and the event doesn’t even start for almost six hours! Awesome…

D2Boston on June 26, 2008 at 10:07 AM

Well, I’m sending stuff to the troops already! My husband is over there right now. He said that people were always looking for new DVDs, so I’m going to send some of those. I’ll do a little care package through this program, too.

MamaAJ on June 26, 2008 at 10:21 AM

FTR I’ve already donated $39.99 + $75.00!

Yakko77 on June 26, 2008 at 9:22 AM

Yup – me too, with several different cards. I’ve already called my credit card banks, and they confirm no problems with the cards – in fact they don’t show any attempts at processing any transactions at all. I’ll Call into the customer service line for “The Campaign Store” which is right here in Sacramento. Heck maybe I can even just drive over… Trying to get the $169.99 package sent – I’ll get it there somehow!

juanito on June 26, 2008 at 10:30 AM

keep on getting a transaction declined.

Yup – me too,

They must be getting hit hard. However, my card just went through when I tried it for about the seventh time, so it just must be hit or miss. $169.99 package on the way.

Cry havoc – and god bless our fighting forces.

juanito on June 26, 2008 at 10:52 AM

I already did the 149.99 last week since I thought the traffic might be too high to get it done during the event.

Be sure to fill in the shipping address to yourself and they will make sure it goes to the troops and not shipped to you, but if you don’t fill it in, the transaction won’t go thru.

i was getting that problem about an hour ago , i think the server was getting slammed . give it some time and it should clear up and wow we are still a little less then 4 hours away and already half way there .

Mojack420 on June 26, 2008 at 12:12 PM

I had a few problems yesterday but it went through on the third try. I think my problem was because I went back to fix my name in which I had omitted a letter. I wish I could do more than I did.

GoodBoy on June 26, 2008 at 12:50 PM

I’ve been having a problem with the International Order Form. I’ve sent an e-mail to their support staff and will post the results here and at Michelle’s site for anyone else facing the same problems.

Canadian Infidel on June 26, 2008 at 1:01 PM

I’m having problems as well. I’ll try back later, but if Ed or anyone else has a fool-proof way to make this happen, please post a “dontions for dummies” style walk through for me please. Thanks!

VolMagic on June 26, 2008 at 1:53 PM

I am having problems as well but,I recieved an invoice in my e-mail.I called the store they didnt answer. Ill check it again later

CaCa on June 26, 2008 at 2:25 PM

your not the only one this is happening to , the server gets hammered and it dosnt take credit cards , once the traffic slows down its all good . so it might take you a while to get the order to process .

Mojack420 on June 26, 2008 at 2:56 PM

Finally went through after about 5 tries! :)

Rosmerta on June 26, 2008 at 2:57 PM

It took a couple of tries (there is a little retry “button” on the “failed screen), but my order finally went through. Somewhere over there will be a squad that knows that my family is proud of them.

You know where I always get stuck on these things? It’s where you get to include a message for the troops. “Thank you” just doesn’t even begin to seem like nearly enough. I express my gratitude and admiration as best I can, but I always wish I knew what kind of thing they might find most encouraging.

JM Hanes on June 26, 2008 at 5:15 PM

Two packs for $340. Thanks for doing this benefit.

waelse1 on June 26, 2008 at 8:25 PM

Less than $52k to go!!!
