I think some of you are missing the point. There are a lot of reasons why people vote the way they do and poll the way they do. I think there will be a fairly large group of voters in this election who are going to vote for Barack Obama no matter what he says and does, and no matter what John McCain says and does, because they are madder than hell at Republicans and want to punish the party, period. That’s why these polls about issues are at odds with the horse-race polls of the candidates.

If Barack Obama wins this election it will be 100% because of George W. Bush. It is dumb for us to assume that because he isn’t on the ballot, people won’t be voting against him.

I am not saying McCain will take either of these states however….

The only people really paying attention to the POTUS race are us political junkies. The only thing most Americans know about the Messiah is “Hope and Change”. Once the GOP and McCain introduce them to the “Real” Messiah they may change their minds. Also remember the Messiah is for NO MORE drilling and McCain is for more drilling. American’s are for LESS $$$$$ coming out of there wallets at the gas pump. Time will tell.

But if I really wanted to tweak AP, I would remind him of his prediction of a GOP stampede to abandon Iraq that was coming in… March.

So I guess I did want to tweak him.

How does it play by Fall? Probably not a visible plus, but Nixon could probably have said the same thing. Should be a bit closer than ’72 though.

It’s baffling. Ask most of the questions on an issue by issue basis and we kill the libs. Low taxes, stable Iraq, immigration enforcement, school choice, more drilling, gay marriage ban, judges that interpret the constitution etc. etc. Yet, more people support Obama who’s against these things, because people want this snake oil pitch of “hope” and “change.” Geez, what an informed electorate.

That’s a pretty bad poll question. The second option involves withdrawing the troops also and has a vague use of the words “more stable.”

The only thing Obama has gotten right is his name. His judgement on the Iraq war was and is opposite the opinion of the vast majority of both houses of Congress at the time. What is it about Saddam that Obama liked so much that he would have left that monster and his baby monsters in power? Maybe Obama is envious of Hussein’s authority.

The poll has a bit of a “push-poll” aspect to it as it says, “all out within 16 months” and last I heard Obama says, “all of our combat brigades out in 16 months.

Quinnipiac either has an agenda or they are very sloppy.

a wash is as good as you can hope for, too many are brainwashed and think the war was all about WMD, Saddam was innocent, Bush lied, etc…

To change perceptions alot, you have to correct the above presuppositions many have.
