I’m glad Al Qaeda knows what you look like, Dem tells Cheney aide; Update: Delahunt spins

It must be out of context. Even if you’re willing to believe he’s this indecent, surely the media microscope is enough to keep congressmen away from fantasizing publicly about their political enemies being killed by terrorists. So let’s assume he meant something else. What did he mean?
[Cheney chief of staff David] Addington told [Democratic Rep. Bill] Delahunt he couldn’t discuss specific techniques being used, or even discussed for use, by CIA agents because terrorists may be watching his appearance and would gain insight into what U.S. intelligence agents are up to.
“You kind of communicate with Al Qaeda if you do. I can’t talk to you because Al Qaeda may watch C-SPAN,” Addington said.
Delahunt responded: “I’m sure they are watching. I’m glad they finally have a chance to see you, Mr. Addington, given your penchant for being unobtrusive.”
Actually, that transcript’s not accurate. Watch the clip at Think Progress — which, predictably, has not a word of criticism for Delahunt (but would screech if the party affiliations here were reversed) and seems mystified that discussions of sensitive security matters might be reserved for, say, closed sessions of Congress or classified congressional briefings. “Yeah, I’m sure you’re pleased,” says Addington sarcastically, suggesting that he took Delahunt’s crack to mean … exactly what it sounds like he meant.
Oh well. I’m not even angry; this is our politics now. Worth filing away as context, though, for the next wave of angry posts/articles about Charlie Black.
Update: Pathetic.
Delahunt told FOX News that … “under no circumstances” was he implying during the hearing that Al Qaeda may target Addington…
“That’s absurd. That was not my intent,” he told FOX News. “And I’m sure Mr. Addington knows that was not my intent.”
Delahunt said he was just trying to express that he was glad to see Addington. Delahunt said he recalls saying “I,” not “they,” during the testimony – though the video, broadcast on C-SPAN, shows he was talking about Al Qaeda.
“I’m sure that he understood,” Delahunt said. “I would be surprised if he had any other interpretation other than the one that I suggested I intended. And if he believes in any way I wish him ill, I assure him that’s not the case and I’d be happy to have another conversation with him.”

Well, they also know what Delahunt looks like now, also.

And now we all know what Delahunt looks like as well as his words of hate.

Just the other day we had those idiotic comments from MA Rep Joe Fagan, and now this.
Makes me so proud to be part of this state!
Think I’ll go bang my head against a wall now.
ToddonCapeCod on June 26, 2008 at 7:14 PM
So what? Does Delahunt think Al Quaeda are going to go after him on American Soil?

Isn’t Delahunt the same tool that negotiated a deal with Hugo Chavez to provide heating oil aid to his district?
Mark1971 on June 26, 2008 at 7:17 PM
I was going to say that, if he meant what he said, we should skip the water-boarding and move directly to keel-hauling. But then I decided that prudence is the better part of valor.
FloatingRock on June 26, 2008 at 7:19 PM
Being in Rhode Island I know what you mean. We don’t have as many crapweasels as Massachusetts but by percentage of politicians to population we may have an edge. But together we have enough turds to overflow the punch bowl.
Wade on June 26, 2008 at 7:19 PM
This is a troubling trend that goes beyond politics as usual. We now have the left wishing the nation’s enemies would kill the left’s opponents, giving the Nazi salute to the people that protect the country, and treat criticism as racist speech.
It’s a short step to being against the left’s dogma becoming a prosecuted hate crime.
In other countries where this occurred in the past, the government in power killed lots of off-message citizens.
The liberal courts seem to be little protection.
I am deeply troubled, as few seem to be protecting a civil society.

I am from Ca so I know how you feel. Don’t blame yourself I have been to your state a few times the people are GREAT, I just cannot figure out the politicians.

If keel hauling is opted, I hope they choose an aircraft carrier. I know the length is extreme but there is an abundance of sailors on board to pull the rope.

Rep. William Delahunt (D-MA), is just another liberal, Al Qaeda, useful idiot!

The Donks should be very careful about what they wish for. Slashing the throat of Constitutional government can cut both ways.

Torture is just so wrong and inhumane:
Unless, of course, it is a U.S. citizen working for the evil Rethuglicant Administration of the chimperor.
Sigh. The denziens of Think Progess sure are progressive. Now, if we could only get “ennealogic” on the Supreme Court and direct his ire to child rapists.
VolMagic on June 26, 2008 at 8:01 PM
So if this is our politics now, what will our politics be in five years? Can politics like this be rolled back?
Limerick on June 26, 2008 at 8:02 PM
In the end, at some point, it will come to a terrible blow.
You can’t keep wishing for your political opponents to be killed before some wacko on your side decides to take you up on it.
Techie on June 26, 2008 at 8:12 PM
Stay angry; don’t let them wear you down.
davidk on June 26, 2008 at 8:14 PM
Could be menacing, especially considering how often throughout history leftists have incorporated violence into their politics.
It’s very disturbing that a member of our legislative branch is glad for Al Qaeda, let alone the reason in this particular case.
FloatingRock on June 26, 2008 at 8:19 PM
History says yes and no. I am betting on no, because of the state of our society. In order for the politics to change, society must change first.
Wade on June 26, 2008 at 8:20 PM
I see these little mask slips now for what they are — televised “Hi Mom”’s to their lefty traitorous supporters. It’s better than franked mail.
Dusty on June 26, 2008 at 8:27 PM
I expecting full blown war crime trials. It will start with a special prosecutor, then we will sign onto the World Court.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Lim is fearmongering again. Wish I could say I was.
The first time a ‘war-criminal’ gets hauled before a court I fear that many Americans will begin considering the contract broken.
Limerick on June 26, 2008 at 8:29 PM
Delehunt should be removed from office. This is insane.
Topsecretk9 on June 26, 2008 at 8:29 PM
Actually, recall how the nutroots rejoiced when a Fox news reporter was kidnapped by Hezbollah and agitated for his demise. So I guess this is in keeping with their terror partnership.
Topsecretk9 on June 26, 2008 at 8:33 PM
Delahunt is a leftist pig that could only exist in a place like the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts. Furthermore, he’s not fit to carry water for Cheney.
rplat on June 26, 2008 at 8:34 PM
I would like Delahunt home address(es), phone numbers, description of the car(s) he and his wife and kids drive, and their license plate #s, photos of his wife, kids, parents, etc. Two can play at this game.
Blake on June 26, 2008 at 8:35 PM
Delahunt is the biggest piece of sh!t in all of Massachusetts. For those of you unaware, Delahunt is also a big Hugo Chavez supporter.
I’ll do anything - anything - to defeat this POS.

Here’s a link to his page and to the right he has a link that says “Send me an Email”

Levin had this on… That cat wasn’t even part of the comity, and only spoke after the GOP senator who opposed him being in the room took a powder.
Complete douche. I hope he enjoys his 15min…
liquidflorian on June 26, 2008 at 9:10 PM
I’m sure the terroists and CIA types knows what Delahunt sounds like thanks to George W. Bushes FISA wiretaps….
Hehehe…. probably have him leaking military secrets to one of his favorite terrorists.
Pompous prick! If I saw one of these arrogant asshats walking down the street I’d be tempted to punch the bit.. in his big mouth.
dhunter on June 26, 2008 at 9:10 PM
I heard about this in Mark Levin’s show. This Delahunt is such a creep.

Delahunt is yet another classic MA pol — no brains, no class, no character… a veritable human pustule.

Of course, who knows where They’d send his personal info off to!
Sweet Dreams Bill!

What a smarmy steaming turd this Delahunt is!
Is he another legacy pol, like Dodd, or did he learn to crawl on his belly on his own?
Lonetown on June 27, 2008 at 5:49 AM
I guess the key phrase is “I’m sure they are watching. I’m glad they finally have a chance to see you, Mr. Addington, given your penchant for being unobtrusive.”
If he was refering to Al Queda, the second half of that comment does not make much sense. Since when has Al Queda targeted aids? They target cities, buildings, the military, ditizenry, and leaders. But aids. Only Congressmen target aids.
Delahunt gets the benefit of the doubt on this one. He was either being sarcastic, or projecting.

Sorry for the typos on that last post. I have not had my coffee yet.

What the who?
Like they don’t know what the conniving, sneaky, bastards, Big Dick and Tall Gray Dave look like by now…!
Word gets around in terrorist circles…
We plain, ordinary, pilgrim, US of A citizens? We aren’t just birds in the wilderness when it comes to their sorry, lying, spying, eyes!
Who yah gonna wave at if you don’t know their face?
J_Gocht on June 27, 2008 at 9:05 AM
Proof yet again that they’re allowed to say these things, but we aren’t.
This is why I started reading Ann Coulter in the first place. She was the first person I ever read who actually threw this sh!t back in their faces.
I get that she too often goes too far, but it was nice for a moment.

It’s interesting that the socialist democrats are coming out as they really are. Could Obama have emboldened them this much? After all, he doesnt hide the fact he’s a Marxist.
abcurtis on June 27, 2008 at 11:48 AM
And, of course, on the 22d, the New York Times personally identified the interrogator who broke Khalid Shaikh Mohammed. The Times also pointed out that he is married and has a small child, and they named the company he now works for!
Knowing now, what at least one of the Democrats views as his pet tactic for opposition to Administration policy, how long will it be before the Democrats frog march the interrogator before the television cameras and remove all doubt about their vicious intent?
Trochilus on June 27, 2008 at 1:01 PM
Surely you are not ignorant of the ability of foreign nationals to target anyone inside our country???
