I just spent a minute thinking of the potentiality of a Billy Jeff campaigning for the Messiah. Me thinks it will be a debacle. BJ didn’t want his wife outdoing him; I think he will relish Obama in the White House even less. He could not stomach BO being a more popular ex-pres than himself. Since he sabotauged his wife’s campaign, I don’t find it a stretch to believe he will attempt the same with Obama’s.

Seriously, would Bill help or hurt Obama at this point? Hillary may do more good than Bill; the majority of the negative campaigning came from Bill, and the abrasiveness he showed on the stump for Hillary won’t soon be forgotten. Even beyond that, Bill demonstrated a real lack of talent on the stump in this cycle, haranguing dissenters and blowing up at reporters. And that was when he supported his wife. How much worse can he get with even less motivation?

Ed, do you really think all of Clinton’s media flubs this year on the campaign trail are gooing go get anything more than a cursory mention if he hits the stump for Obama? Remember, the only reason Bill was called out between January and June by the big media outlets was because he and the missus weren’t liberal enough in their eyes.

If he campaigns for Obama, everything negative written and spoken by the big media in the past six months goes down the memory hole, and Bill becomes again the same magnetic, scintillating speaker the media said he was from 1992 to 2007 (never mind that other than his Monica monologue, nobody can remember key phrases from a single speech Bill Clinton ever gave).
