The Psychic Accusations Network

posted at 6:00 pm on June 23, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

Colleen Leduc tries hard to take care of her autistic daughter — and her extraordinary efforts paid off when she had to fight charges of child abuse leveled by her daughter’s school.  Terry Fox Elementary hadn’t covered itself in glory when it came to Elizabeth — they lost the girl on several occasions — but the accusation and its basis was the last straw.  They had the word of an eyewitness for evidence, although eyewitness is at best a loose term in this case:

Leduc’s weird tale began on May 30, when she dropped young Victoria off for class at Terry Fox Elementary and headed in to work, only to receive a frantic phone call from the school telling her it was urgent she come back right away.

The frightened mother rushed back to the campus and was stunned by what she heard – the principal, vice-principal and her daughter’s teacher were all waiting for her in the office, telling her they’d received allegations that Victoria had been the victim of sexual abuse – and that the CAS had been notified.

How did they come by such startling knowledge? Leduc was incredulous as they poured out their story.

“The teacher looked and me and said: ‘We have to tell you something. The educational assistant who works with Victoria went to see a psychic last night, and the psychic asked the educational assistant at that particular time if she works with a little girl by the name of “V.” And she said ‘yes, I do.’ And she said, ‘well, you need to know that that child is being sexually abused by a man between the ages of 23 and 26.’”

And, unbelievably, they used the word of a psychic to file a complaint with CAS.  The agency opened a file on Leduc, but it didn’t take long for the Canadian authorities to figure out what had happened.  Thanks to Terry Fox Elementary’s previous incompetence, Leduc had attached a GPS device and an audio recorder to her daughter — which proved that nothing untoward had happened to her, other than to be in a school run by idiots.

Leduc removed her daughter from the school, and wants the school board to pay for specialized care that the elementary school had long rejected.  The board has started an investigation into the actions of Fox’s administrators, but has refused to provide the care that Leduc wants.  Leduc now wants legal advice as to how to proceed.

You don’t have to have telepathy to know what Leduc’s thinking now.

I blame Miss Cleo.

The school officials regretted that they couldn’t provide further information about the suspected abuse. They explained that there wasn’t money in the district budget to buy more than the first 15 minutes of Madame Cleo’s $1.00 per minute psychic advice.

Cicero43 on June 23, 2008 at 6:11 PM

How the heck is a Psychic considered to be a credible enough source to level those kind of accusation. The school officials are pretty retarded.

pritzcovan on June 23, 2008 at 6:12 PM

Every administrator involved should be immediately fired- hell, just being stupid enough to take advice from a “psychic” should disqualify one from being an educator. But actually filing a complaint based on what this “psychic” claims? (psst- they’re faking it. They’re not really psychic).

I hope they lose their butts in a lawsuit- and not just the school, but the administrators personally.

How can you be so closed-minded about this? Remember, truth is subjective – it’s relative to your own personal learning experiences. For instance, if you’re white, you’re perspective is that of a racist overlord, so your personal truth is different than someone who is a victim of your monstrous oppression.

In this case, these school officials received an urgent warning from a dedicated lightworker, and shouldn’t be punished by your xenophobic unwillingness to be outside your comfort zone.

Better safe then sorry!

BigWyo on June 23, 2008 at 6:19 PM

I noticed they disabled the school council link. I bet they received a lot of beer and donut soaked e-mails of psychic support.

The mom is in Canada and she can’t afford the intensive therapy her autistic daughter needs?

What happened to Canada’s model health care system that the left is so in love with?

My second favorite phone call made to a radio station was to correct the (female) DJ who announced an event at our local University being held by the Psychics Department.

When I informed her (in an indignant tone, being a Chemistry major at the time) that we did not have a “psychics” department at St. Cloud State, she said “well that’s what it says”. I asked if that might be the physics department, and got an “ooooh. sorry”.

Hollowpoint on June 23, 2008 at 6:29 PM

That psychic should have been in Gloucester.

GoodBoy on June 23, 2008 at 6:30 PM

I think the fair thing to do is to take the psychic at her word and hold her in jail under contempt of court charges until she reveals the name of the perp.

If you’re joking, good one.

If your not, bad one. I’ve heard of some insane behavior within the educational system on both sides of the border, but this one seems so far outside the realm of tolerability, that it leaves me wondering how anyone could be so thick as to think this would fly. Unfriggenbelievable.

I wish it was all fictional.

From the Verizon wireless agent who thinks that .002 cents being different than .002 dollars is “a matter of opinion” to the neuroscientist who claims that facts are entirely made up by our brains so therefore, “facts do not exist” there is a huge contingent of our country that has been so warped by the liberal education system that they no longer believe anything can be proven or disproven.

Syd B. on June 23, 2008 at 6:42 PM

If only you could keep an open mind about this Syd, you too could hope for the inevitable change that will sweep this nation into a new era of enlightment – where you will be required to shed your cynicism and engage. The time will come where you will never be allowed to return to your life as usual – uninvolved, and uninformed.

I said this in another thread today, but it bears repeating: stuff like that makes my faith in humanity die bit by bit. In fact, I’ve run out of faith, but something inside me keeps on dying.

Now we know who’s been writing the textbooks used by the “can’t-teach-reading-or-writing-or-math-or-history” crowd.

And apparently the teachers’ training consists of 400 hours of Oprah.

Because if the information is along the lines of what they want to believe anyway, then it is “true” until proved wrong. Kinda like Global Warming

I should probably eat more slowly too. As soon as I read your post, I got heartburn. Just finished my spaghetti.

You know, there’s a reason why some people intentionally use the word psychotic instead of psychic. This story provides a good example.

From the Verizon wireless agent who thinks that .002 cents being different than .002 dollars is “a matter of opinion”

Holy crow, apollyonbob! I had that exact experience with Verizon. The lady actually said to me, “You say ‘tomato’, …” and had the nerve to pity me because, “math is difficult for some people.” Even the manager took some convincing.

mikeyboss on June 23, 2008 at 7:04 PM

My ESP is telling me that Ms. Leduc is angry.

There are only three kinds of people. Those that are good at math and those that aren’t.

Syd B. on June 23, 2008 at 7:39 PM

Well, this event does come from Canada, eh. The only things of value that country has given the rest of the world are Ice Hockey and Curling. They tried to pawn Pierre Trudeau on us back in the 60s and early 70s, but he was too conservative for the Great White North.

A Socialist Indoctrination Camp, run by Socialist Bureaucrats for a Socialist Government going after an independent minded mother. Anyone else see the pattern?

umm…This is simply ridiculous. I’m thinking I would sue the school..and the psychic..and whoever else I could.

Dont they have to provide an education by law? If not at this school, then with a homebound teacher.

Im not sure about Canadian law, but I sure would be finding out.

There are only 10 kinds of people in this world – those who understand binary, and those who don’t.

a boy named ‘Mike’..

If the teaching assistant told her administrators that the psychic indicated that she was deserving of a hefty raise in pay, they would have laughed her out of the office.
