Stole the words right out of my mouth. I have to add….I ain’t playing or watching any “soccer”. We have a name for “soccer” where I come from…[Redacted] Ball.

malan89 on June 23, 2008 at 10:48 PM

Thanks Will. You just saved me ten bucks on your movie.

I really thought Mr. Smith wasn’t all loony like Marxist Hollywood. If he hasn’t thought being American has been a good thing for 10 years, why doesn’t he move? Seriously, the left hates America in every way imaginable.

FLcapitalistthug on June 23, 2008 at 10:48 PM

Jerk. I can’t stand these Hollyweird elitists.

Damn…and I used to really like Will. Not another one

1GooDDaDDy on June 23, 2008 at 10:49 PM

Mr Smith has already met with Barry and offered up himself to play the Senator in a movie.

Limerick on June 23, 2008 at 10:50 PM

Hmm. Guess it is your point of view. For all it’s supposed faults, I have never once thought it bad to be an American. Just as in life in general, other people’s opinions of you only matter if you let them. I could care less what people in other countries think of me or America. Not when the rest of the world asks so much of us and U.S. and relies so heavily on U.S. and us. If we’re so awful, rely on yourselves for once.

But you won’t. To this point, you have been unable. Maybe we shouls stop being an enabler.

Oh, and as far as Will Smith….who cares?

ej_pez on June 23, 2008 at 10:50 PM

Will as Obama

Limerick on June 23, 2008 at 10:51 PM

Meh. I still love Fresh Prince, the Men In Black movies, Hitch, and the Pursuit of Happyness. And I’ll probably still see Hancock. His politics suck, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a good entertainer.

In west Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground was where I spent most of my days
Chillin’ out maxin’ relaxin’ all cool
And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys
Who were up to no good
Startin making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
She said ‘You’re movin’ with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air

malan89 on June 23, 2008 at 10:51 PM

Europe hated Reagan, Will.
Moscow hated Reagan more.

jgapinoy on June 23, 2008 at 10:52 PM

VolMagic on June 23, 2008 at 10:52 PM

FloatingRock on June 23, 2008 at 10:52 PM

Malan, do you really have to call soccer “pussy ball”? I mean, at least stay on topic here. Just curious, what sport do you play? I have played soccer all my life, and thanks to it, the first part of your epithet comes quite easily. Maybe you’re a chunky first baseman, or the other shining light of physical splendor, an offensive lineman?

All these wealthy, spoiled, people so upset about being American can go to the country of their choice. However, there will be no turning back. You lose your citizenship and you stay the heck away from us for the rest of your miserable, ignorant, worthless lives.

UnEasyRider on June 23, 2008 at 10:57 PM

Darth – guess I hadn’t been paying close attention. I wonder if these Marxists knew how REAL left-wingers (Che, Castro) treated artists. Their mouths felt a barrel quicker than most.

This reminds me of a passage in Atlas Shrugged: A composer (Richard Halley) will not perform for those who do not meet with his definition of values; who order him to play. In other words, only capitalism truly embraces the arts.

FLcapitalistthug on June 23, 2008 at 10:58 PM

This is the first time it’s been good to be an American

Put that one up with Michelle Obama’s quote. Sigh.

I like will,that aside,however I can’t wrap my brain around
this logic,he’s been to Berlin,Russia, but it hasn’t been
easy to be an American!

Then,because of Barack Obama,all of a sudden,in a blink
of a nano-second,hey its great to be an American?Umm!

Lets see,Michelle Obama has said something very similiar,
“For the first time in my life,I’m pround of my Country”!

Plus he’s still one of the only clean great rappers around, and proud of it too. Not ready to give up on Will just yet.

And I wonder!

Great way to alienate your audience there, Will.

It’s also easy because the stupid actors/actresses, that open their mouths and spit out idiocy, make such bad movies, I don’t mind passing on them.

He’s an actor, not a politician. I don’t expect him to analyze politics and the world scene deeply.

No idea. I suspect maladjusted is old and holds some 1950s childhood grudge against the new sport. I love football, and played it. Played baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, ran, wrestled.

Not sure why soccer elicits such contempt. It’s not nearly as physical as football, but it’s also played in a pair of shorts. I played goalkeeper, which tends to be a little rougher than the field, but certainly not because I’m rough. No one else would play it.

I have no doubt that, in the circles actors & musicians travel in, they probably do get beat up a great deal about being American…..and for people whose self-esteem apparently comes mostly from being liked by other people (especially by white Europeans), I guess I can see how the criticism would bother them.

But seriously, he does realize that Berlin & Moscow have been home to some of the most brutal governments in the history of the planet? He most have heard how so many were ruthlessly slaughtered, over-worked and/or starved to death, if not by their governments’ own hands, at least by design? Both peoples have endured suffering that is unmatched by anything in America’s history? He does realize that the ruling & elite classes & their history of hating America & everything it stands for has roots that go back much further than 7 years?

I’m not aware of the official Scientological view of those specific ideologies and world events but, perhaps, since they believe alien spirits long ago crash landed on Earth and inhabited our bodies to survive, they may think that it was all part of a grand (alien) design to provoke an arms race intended to encourage the development of rockets, (and so forth), with the eventual goal of providing means to transport themselves back to their home world(s).

Of course this is all idle speculation on my part. They might feel that the Nazi’s and Soviets, bad as they were, were manipulating humanity to achieve a greater and glorious purpose: space travel.

FloatingRock on June 24, 2008 at 2:33 AM

FloatingRock on June 24, 2008 at 2:33 AM

My point being that, if their views are in any way similar to what I’ve speculated, the Soviets and Nazi’s weren’t really bad people/aliens but rather were playing a role and creating circumstances which would allow them to eventually vacate our bodies, (or take them with them, who knows), and head back home.

Maybe something like this is part of the reason they are so secretive.

I just came back from Moscow, Berlin, London and Paris… I’ve been there quite a few times in the past 5 to 10 years. And it just hasn’t been a good thing to be an American. And this is the first time, since Barack has gotten the nomination, that it was a good thing.

That’s sort of like saying:
I just came back from a prison where I talked to quite a few burglars, murderers and rapists. I spoke with them honestly and even exchanged addresses so that we could write. They told me that they choose victims that are unlikely to be armed and target homes without security systems or dogs, and when I told them I didn’t have anything like that at my house we all got along famously. I feel so loved.

I keep my politics and entertainment seperate. Lots and lots of actors/actresses that I love to watch (aka entertain me) are suck@ss liberals or downright socialists as in Ed Asner. But when I pays my *4 or whatever at the movie theater, its not because I’m there for any political commentary or to support people I agree with solely on political grounds. Its because I want to be ENTERTAINED!!!!

Lets try and work on being multi-dimentional beings mmkaayyy?

Life is tooo short to let Will Smiths personal life eff up your paid for fun.

Think of it that way.

And if you can’t seperate the two (politics and entertainment) you have bigger problems.

Just sayin’.
