Downright poignant, especially the part where he accuses the campaign of manipulating the comments and ratings on Obama’s video so that he doesn’t have to face the truth — namely, that the left, especially the segment that populates YT, is willing to forgive its Lightworker any betrayal of principle in the interest of power. Rick Ellensburg’s having his own hard reckoning with that fact of political life per the update to Karl’s latest post, but that’s not so much poignant as … immensely gratifying.
Fraud is the way of the samurai, my friends. He knows what he’s doing.

Hell, they applauded and cheered when he blew his nose. That should have been a clue.

“Displays that he can’t be trusted” only “erodes my support of him.”? “barak loses brownies points.”
What a tool. He’s a liar but I may still vote for him because I kind of like his lies.
peacenprosperity on June 21, 2008 at 5:40 PM
I thought he was a reasonable guy until he recommended a Matt Taibbi book.
terryannonline on June 21, 2008 at 5:41 PM
That was extremely watchable. I’m impressed. Always fun to see scales falling.
Spirit of 1776 on June 21, 2008 at 5:42 PM
Greenwald is outraged that Obama will sign-on to the FISA reform but is silent over the dangers in Obama’s proposals to massively increase the size and scope of the domestic powers of Washington.
He who is against “A” - FISA legislation allowing too much unchecked state powers - should also be againt “B” - huge increases in spending and regulations over our lives.
Some libertarian.
SteveMG on June 21, 2008 at 5:44 PM
Oh and if this Obama is disenchanted with his guy because of YouTube ratings then he might not want to see this video I captured.
terryannonline on June 21, 2008 at 5:45 PM
Poor guy. Now he’s done it.
Nice to see he’s thinking for himself. As soon as he gets a job and notices that Uncle Sam takes a cut of his check he’ll become a fine conservative.
BacaDog on June 21, 2008 at 5:46 PM
It’s amazing to see a leftie sober up. Future neocon?
stonemeister on June 21, 2008 at 5:47 PM
Maybe just maybe the blinders are beginning to come off.
Not enough to change his vote but enough to “weird him out”
On second thought the blinders are fogging up…..

That video could’ve used, I dunno, a car chase or something.
Rhinoboy on June 21, 2008 at 5:52 PM
This video sounds like Dorothy after Toto pulled back the curtain — Lots of hurt and disillusionment, but she still had faith that the Wizard would somehow be able to help her get back to Kansas.
jon1979 on June 21, 2008 at 5:52 PM
Like watching a caterpillar turn into a butterfly, seeing a twenty something realize just how naive they are.
Welcome to the real world kid.
rockdog63 on June 21, 2008 at 5:52 PM
Poor James Van Der Beek… He’s taking this whole thing really –
Whaddya mean that’s not him in the video?
ScottMcC on June 21, 2008 at 5:53 PM
I almost funny to watch the Left go on as if this is the first time Obama has ever gone back on his word. I guess they have themselves convinced that every other time was just a “distraction” but somehow this time is different.
Yakko77 on June 21, 2008 at 5:56 PM
Wait…a Chicago politician is a political player? Stunning.
The video guy is also right about something bigger: Obama’s blatantly lying about pulling out of Iraq. Not that he mightn’t botch the job trying (which he probably would), but his intent will be to surf out the results of the surge and then compound the lie by claiming the victory as the result of his own policies (probably characterizing his decision to renege on the campaign promise as “bold” or “complex”). And who knows, with the aggression with which the media will help him with that sick narrative, two lies might actually wind up making a truth.
Blacklake on June 21, 2008 at 5:59 PM
This guy won’t wind up voting for McCain come November, hell, he’ll probably wind up voting for Barry after all.
But he’s still devastatingly bad news for the Lightworker. Notice he’s donated to Barry. Want to make odds that he’ll do it again? Barry’s backers were already slowing down, and now he shows himself to be exactly what they thought they were fighting against. Chumps.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Barry the Bumbler doesn’t raise 85 million between now and November. And while, yes, the left will vote for him, the magic is deader’n disco. Forget those huge crowds of worshipful new believers dropping their bongs and heading to the polls. He’s just another pol now.
This is the weekend Barrack Hussein Obama officially jumped the shark.

This is a fine video example of a liberal battling his demons: Do I vote on my emotions or do I vote on the issues?
Emotions? Issues?
Too bad more lemmings don’t have the mental capacity to think this clearly.
cannonball on June 21, 2008 at 6:06 PM
Pretty good video. I’m expecting the electorate to come back to the middle more quickly than Obama can. Good news for McCain.
forest on June 21, 2008 at 6:09 PM
I really enjoy this comment to the video from Youtube:
terryannonline on June 21, 2008 at 6:12 PM
I liked the video. He’s very well spoken and seems like a thoughtful person. I think he foresees that (if elected) Obama is going to disappoint him, big time, on Iraq, and this is part of his mental prep for that eventuality.
But one thing I’m not sure if this guy realizes: not only did Obama agree to accept public financing if McCain also agreed - Obama was the one who proposed the idea in the first place, in Nov 2007. So Obama’s not just reneging, he’s reneging on his own proposal. It’s beyond flip-flopping; it’s completely dishonorable.
Missy on June 21, 2008 at 6:13 PM
This guy needs a life. Obama is a hack politician of the worst kind. Stupid people like him will elect Obama to the presidency. God help us.
jencab on June 21, 2008 at 6:13 PM
I love it when Republicans try to pass themselves off as Democrats. It really is enjoyable, to say nothing of transparent.
Len on June 21, 2008 at 6:15 PM
Because most Americans don’t support public financing doesn’t mean it won’t hurt Obama. The main criticism of him isn’t that he didn’t enter the system. It’s that he promised to until he saw green.
amerpundit on June 21, 2008 at 6:15 PM
I love it when Democrats automatically assume that any critic of Obama’s is a Republican. If you peruse his videos, you’ll find that he’s attacked both McCain and Bush.
Whether he supports Obama or not is one thing, but you can hardly assume he’s a Republican because he’s a critic.
amerpundit on June 21, 2008 at 6:20 PM
Len,
If you read the comments the guy posted he’s voting for Obama. He’s not a Republican. He’s just critical of Obama. I’m sure you don’t agree with every position he’s taken. Lighten up.
terryannonline on June 21, 2008 at 6:23 PM
He’s still young.. however it looks like he needs to pick up a home remodeling book and fix that room. :}
Chakra Hammer on June 21, 2008 at 6:24 PM
Yeah, that’s pretty significant. Barry threw down the challenge, and after it was accepted, decided to retreat when it paid better. The mark of a courageous man who’ll go to the wall for a principle. Or not.
a capella on June 21, 2008 at 6:27 PM
Speaking of that, I wonder what Barry might have done if he were in McCain’s POW shoes in Viet Nam and was offered early release if he’d throw his comrades under the bus. Guess we already know the answer to that one, don’t we?
a capella on June 21, 2008 at 6:31 PM
I don’t think that many people are that concerned about the whole public financing thing now, but I do think they might be concerned that Obama lied to them again.
As for whether or not people care, not now they don’t. But after months and months of Obama 24/7 they might be wishing there was some limit to how much TV time a guy could buy.
When I first decided to get Direct TV, it was during an election. I only had network and I thought that if I had to keep seeing those damn political ads I was going to just turn the TV off and forget about it. So I got satellite. Now I watch Discovery and History and A&E and avoid the bs.

Liberal gets mugged; turns conservative.
misterpeasea on June 21, 2008 at 6:44 PM
Yeah, sad to say. Though to be honest I wonder if he’d even have made it through boot camp.
Missy on June 21, 2008 at 6:48 PM
He has the typical, limited thought processes and communication skills of a post modern moral relativist.
Anyone who thinks this guy will ever vote for a conservative is sadly mistaken. What he’s doing is pretending to be thoughtful. That’s what they do, create the appearance that they are not robots. Liberalism is all about how they want the world to perceive them, not what is actually going on in the world.
peacenprosperity on June 21, 2008 at 6:55 PM
He’s in the basement of his hardworking conservative parents.
peacenprosperity on June 21, 2008 at 6:57 PM
This guy seems a bit tortured. He’s over thinking this.
Obama’s a liar. Get it? We get it.

The kid looks to be in good shape learning a good skill like carpentry would be good for him, it would help to take his mind off some of this stuff, and would also give him a good workout and when it’s done he would have happy parents and a nicer living environment. :}
Yes he can remodel that basement! :}
Chakra Hammer on June 21, 2008 at 7:16 PM
Indeed. Whereas other moderate lefties who keep tabs on changes in Iraq (and thus wouldn’t want withdrawal) will say, “I’m kind of counting on the fact that he’s a liar so I won’t have to pull a level for McCain.”
calbear on June 21, 2008 at 7:21 PM
Obama wouldn’t have gone to boot camp. He’d have been dodging the draft by screwing around in Europe (at his white granny’s expense), or moving to Canada and trying to change his citizenship so he could run for Prime Minister in 15 or 20 years.
AZCoyote on June 21, 2008 at 7:26 PM

The young man has the following characteristics: intelligent, articulate, uses reason & logic, ergo, I suspect he’s a Conservative presenting himself as a liberal for the video.

Your lack of devotion to our Dear Leader has not gone unnoticed.
ronsfi on June 21, 2008 at 7:48 PM
Ahh! Question? Why does the left use the term neocon as an insult? I never really paid attention until lately and read up on the term a little. I did not do an in depth study of the term, but what is wrong with it. Should I be insulted?
kahall on June 21, 2008 at 7:55 PM
Quite the “Wizard of Oz” moment for that young man. Daring to pull back the curtain and see the truth. Sort of like waking up and realizing you are surrounded by zombies. Kreepy with a capital K.

He is just another anti-American fool suffering from BDS.

He want’s us out of Iraq. That being his position, I bet he still votes for Obama. He may not fully trust him to actually do that, but McCain has clearly stated he will continue in Iraq until we’re finished.
aikidoka on June 21, 2008 at 10:48 PM
Not to worry, and they won’t miss this guy if he decides not to support Obama … there are about a few million others who will vote for Obama like the good little merchants for change they are.

drjohn on June 22, 2008 at 8:34 AM
Obama has Mugabe’s genes in half of his body. He has been formed spiritually and mentally by anti-American causes and forces. Don’t think a Zimbabwe cannot happen here. We see a sick young generation, void of morals and standards being swept up by this ‘messiah’ and in todays world that is very dangerous.
wepeople on June 22, 2008 at 8:40 AM
Brings to mind something Winston Churchill said, “If you’re not a liberal when 20, you have not heart; if you’re not a conservative by 40, you have no brain.” We just witnessed growing pains.
Unfortunately, in this election, his alternative, Juan McVain, is nobody to get excited about, either. My oldest son just turned 18 and can now vote. What a lousy election to come of voting age in. I’m old and cyncial, and this election even has me depressed and disillusioned.
