Quotes of the day
posted at 10:15 pm on June 20, 2008 by Allahpundit
“It doesn’t matter that Obama never said, or even implied, that legal prosecution should be the sole method of preventing terrorism. The fact that he even mentioned prosecution apparently proves that he has what McCain’s campaign called a ‘September 10th mindset.’”
*
“Allahpundit has highlighted some of Obama’s more hawkish statements regarding taking out terrorists, but President Clinton was not beyond the occasional cruise missile strike either. There’s nothing particularly post-9/11 about that approach. Obama’s mindset beyond Gitmo would leave him in the same position as Clinton in the event that a nation like Yemen offered to hand over someone we believed to be involved interrorism against the US, but lacked the type of evidence needed for a trial of the matter.”

The statute cited to in the Protein Wisdom that was co-sponsored by BO is ridiculous. Surely a constitutional law professor (haha -I can’t write that with a straight face) should know better.

I’m thinking the truth is something that no one wants to come to grips with. Dance on to destruction.

Not only would we need to consider the quality of the evidence and whether it would be sufficient to use in civilian court, we’d have to consider how much of the evidence we could safely reveal in open court.
Which underscores the question that Obama needs to answer: Exactly what type of due process rights do you wish to extend to these people?
Or, to put it differently: What type of rights will the courts extend now that the Supremes have ruled that Gitmo detainees (and others?) have habeas rights in civilian court?
Until this question is resolved, it’s absurd to argue that we can use 9/11 tactics in a 9/12 world.
Although after Boumedienne, we may have to.

With Obama,it’ll be the same as Clinton’s,
same ol’drag the Jihady’s off to court!
Liberals,same as the old boss,mentality,Gore’s
“No Legal controlling Authority” style mindset!
The only affective way of dealing with the terrorists
isn’t the legal route,if they get off,or escape,they
won’t give up,they will still find a way to kill you!
No to the courts!
Say yes,to high-tech Ordanance!

Meric1837 and Chakra, those are quotes from linked articles. You need to nitpick them for the errors.
Tip – all Quotes of the Day are that (learned the hard way).

I don’t know, E; Karl has the space between “in” and “terrorism”. I guess he could have corrected it after AP grabbed the quote.

False:
“Stewart was convicted of providing material support (through a press conference and allowing access by her translator) to a terrorist conspiracy to kill persons outside of the United States and conspiring to defraud the U.S. government when acting as counsel to Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman, the blind Egyptian cleric who was convicted in 1996 of plotting terrorist attacks against various sites in the New York City area. Specifically, she was accused, in a federal grand jury indictment, of passing Rahman’s blessing for a resumption of terrorist operations to his fundamentalist Muslim terrorist cell in Egypt after cell members inquired whether they should continue to honor a ceasefire that was in place against the Egyptian government.”
Jail poses little barrier to jihadis when they have complicit traitors able to convey their message. These scumbags should be killed quickly and with little fanfare.

Not to mention, Obama’s position implies that everyone who was involved in the first bombing was rolled up with the legal proceedings. I submit that this is patently absurd.

BO has a serious problem understanding the concepts “nation,” “sovereignty,” and “private property.” He also is confused about the number of states in the United States, and has a poor grasp of U.S. history and geography as well as world geography. His friends and associates are radical, bomb-throwing leftist felons, wide-eyed anti-Semites, racists, and assorted America-hating crazies.
This is someone uniquely UNQUALIFIED to hold public office, and his undistinguished legislative career so far is further evidence of this.
The only person who would be a winner should Obama become president would be Jimmy Carter, who would no longer be the worst president in US history.

I speaks engrish.

I’m aware. I made no reference to AP, only to the error.
Meric1837 on June 21, 2008 at 3:50 AM
However, the linked article spaces the “in terrorism” and it does not here. Odd. I’m not calling AP’s grammatical skills into question (I don’t believe anyone here would think AP anything less than a competent author), I’m just noting an oversite; nothing personal.

Barack Obama has a new television ad that is playing in a number of states:
In the ad, Obama claims credit for three pieces of legislation. In one case, the claim is reasonable. The other two are bogus.
Obama says that “I… cut taxes for working families,” citing Illinois Public Act: PA 91-0700, the Illinois Earned Income Tax Credit of 2000. Given the collaborative nature of any legislation, Obama’s claim that “I cut taxes” is pretentious at best. As it happens, though, Obama was only a minor player with respect to the Earned Income Tax Credit Act. In fact, he was not one of the bill’s chief sponsors. He signed on as one of 37 co-sponsors on April 15, 2000, shortly before the act was signed into law on May 11.
In the ad, Obama also claims that “I…extended health care for wounded troops who had been neglected.” Wow, that’s quite an accomplishment for a single Senator. The ad cites Public Law 110-181, the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act. Funny thing, though: Obama didn’t show up to vote on that bill in the Senate. So it’s hard to see how Obama can take credit for having personally “extended health care for wounded troops.”
But that’s Obamaworld–the facts are optional. (powerline)
This guy is “bullshit” disguised as hope; pathetic.
Keemo on June 21, 2008 at 7:38 AM
Obama’s in two very deep holes: energy and terrorism. On both issues, he’s so far out of step with the American public that he may not be electable. His cultural Marxism compounds it, (not to mention his elitist attitude.)
His election with a Dem Congress would change the country more than anyone since FDR. Needless to say, a MoveOn “progressive’s” idea of change is not the kind of change most of us would want.
