FactCheck.org: Obama lies shamelessly about McCain’s lobbyist money

posted at 4:17 pm on June 20, 2008 by Allahpundit

Along with the two mentioned at the end of my earlier post, this makes three separate lies springing from his decision to opt out of public financing. “John McCain’s campaign and the Republican National Committee are fueled by contributions from Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs,” he said yesterday during the announcement, so you see, he has to do everything he can to offset their huge plutocratic advantage. Enter FactCheck, pointing out that the special interest “fuel” in question composes just 1.7% of total contributions in McCain’s case and 1.1% in the case of the RNC. Patrick Ruffini actually beat them to the punch on this point and supplied a little extra data that FactCheck doesn’t mention — how much cash St. Barack has himself taken in from special interests. Via Ruffini, the top employers of Obama contributors:

obamamoney.jpg

Obama likes to pretend that Fortune 500 company employees are all entirely independent individual donors, each contributing for no purpose greater or lesser than their belief in Hopenchange. FactCheck nailed him on that too back in March when it pointed out how, for a guy who likes to brag that he doesn’t take money from oil companies, he sure does seem to get a lot from oil company employees. Ah well — consider it fodder for David Brooks’s next column about what a dashing, cunning, rock star of a Machiavellian liar he is. In the meantime, follow the link to Ruffini’s post for his suggestion on what the Messiah could do if he was serious about limiting the influence of big money on his campaign. It’s purely rhetorical, of course.

Scrap all the FEC finance laws, they’re a ridiculous farce.

LimeyGeek on June 20, 2008 at 4:22 PM

Is this really news?

We already know Hussein Obama is a liar.

madmonkphotog on June 20, 2008 at 4:22 PM

I don’t recall Clinton lying about Dole nonstop.

Maybe rather than the Big Lie technique, Hussein is employing the Lie-so-much-and-so-fast-that-they-can’t-keep-track-of-them-all-or-refute-them-effectively technique.

Akzed on June 20, 2008 at 4:24 PM

And while the blogs and pampleteers are preaching all this to the choir who is preaching to the congregation?

This is not the Campaign Finance I knew.

Beto Ochoa on June 20, 2008 at 4:29 PM

I used to think Barry tried to pull the wool over people’s eyes in the same way Bill Clinton did.

Turns out, on top of everything else, he’s not even a good liar.

Der Slickmeister still reigns supreme.

fogw on June 20, 2008 at 4:32 PM

Obama couldn’t possibly be lying. He’s greater than Jesus, Allah and Buddha all rolled into one. He is the living incarnation of God on Earth. Teh TV told me so.

Racists at fact checker, no doubt

Clinton didn’t have to. All he had to do was not get caught diddling an intern until after the election and he was a shoe-in. Dole didn’t stand a chance.

In fact, I remember that the Republicans had trouble finding a viable candidate because no one wanted to run as it would mean an almost guaranteed loss.

One interesting thing I remember- Democrats and their MSM allies pressured Dole into resigning from the Senate since he was deemed too occupied with the campaign to be effective as a Senator. Funny how that mandate disappeared when Kerry ran.

Thank goodness for FactCheck.org as it really is one of the best websites on the net. Its very important that all politicians be held to a standard of honesty and integrity, regardless of our own personal feelings or party affiliations.

Hopefully everyone here can frequent Factcheck.org over the coming months to see the good and the bad both of Senators Obama and McCain. The information doesn’t always favor the candidate you support but thats the beauty of it! Knowledge is power.

It’s okay. Obambi’s teleprompter made him say it.

That’s because the press wasn’t 144% in the bag for him.
They questioned him vigourously enough he lied about himself 100% of the time.

Are you trying to get AP to switch sides and become a DKos blogger? Sheesh.

Then again, if the government took over Apple the iPod would weigh 2 pounds, have a battery life of 20 minutes, and cost $20,0000 each to produce.

Charlatan.

rockbend on June 20, 2008 at 4:47 PM

Why are publicly funded universities giving him money?
I am glad mine’s not on that list.

That’s all well and good, but how does this help Michelle Obama’s children?

Vic on June 20, 2008 at 4:50 PM

Who the heck is “National Amusements Inc.?”

Wikipedia:

“National Amusements holds controlling voting interests in CBS Corporation, Viacom, (which includes MTV Networks, BET, and movie production and distribution Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks movie studios), and Midway Games, and is equal partners in MovieTickets.com.”

Oh.

If McCain advocates offshore drilling and Obama is against it, oil company employees might shift their money toward McCain.

So are rock star status and the ability to read a teleprompter. Both appear to be more powerful than knowledge.

Lots of lawyers. That is understandable.

But who is “Exelon Corp?”

Oh.

Looks like they were a`client of Axelrod, too.

Obama lies shamelessly about McCain…

… and will shamelessly get away with it.

He’s going to pull the biggest upset since… I don’t know… Gimme a good guess, guys…

newton on June 20, 2008 at 5:51 PM

Notice also in that NY Times article about Exelon that Obama told a flat out lie about it. Of course the NYT doesn’t say that exactly, but that is exactly what happened.

He has boasted of it on the campaign trail, telling a crowd in Iowa in December that it was “the only nuclear legislation that I’ve passed.”

“I just did that last year,” he said, to murmurs of approval.

Later:

Those revisions propelled the bill through a crucial committee. But, contrary to Mr. Obama’s comments in Iowa, it ultimately died amid parliamentary wrangling in the full Senate.

neandertal on June 20, 2008 at 5:53 PM

A sign of lies yet to come.
Let me see, he is infallible, the MSM knows he cannot lie.
It’ll be a great campaign.

Chakra Hammer on June 20, 2008 at 6:56 PM

Obama lies shamelessly about everything. It’s becoming his trade mark.

jeanie on June 20, 2008 at 6:57 PM

Like someone said this is preaching to the choir. We can’t even get Fox, whose balance is leaning more left all the time to report this stuff.
The Obamapods don’t see or hear anything.
I don’t know why, it still amazes me.
Nothing could touch this guy. I turn the tv on, it’s all about him. This is like a bad twilight zone show.
I can’t stand it. The thought of him and his Mrs. in the White House is just so repulsive.

Conservatives R Us on June 20, 2008 at 7:21 PM

If Obamanation lies his ass off and the mainstream media never reports it will the American people hear about it.

Will Obamanations voters care if he lies his ass off.

No, because of the mainstream media enablers, and Democrat party mantra “Republicans are evil and mean”:

His voters won’t care the “ends will justify the means”.
We have a fight on our hands and had better begin fighting it at every opportunity.
