Quotes of the day

“My understanding is that Senator Obama said he would (take public financing) and that now he’s saying he won’t… Actions speak louder than words. No matter how beautiful the words are and how well presented, you’ve got to get beyond the words. And now we’re seeing how the words don’t even mean what we thought they meant… So I think it raises some serious questions about what it is he stands for.”

*
“Congress must pass public financing to make our elections fair.”

*
“Barack Obama chose winning over his word…

“And with that, the first-term Illinois senator tarnished his carefully honed image as a different kind of politician — one who means what he says and says what he means — while undercutting his call for ‘a new kind of politics.’…

“So much for being a straight shooter.”

My understanding is that Senator Obama said he would (take public financing) and that now he’s saying he won’t

Its all about context baby!

dmann on June 19, 2008 at 10:10 PM

These are just the mistakes of a young lion out to change the world with his hope. The left will continue to criticize the right for even talking about this stuff.

And yet, 45+% of our country will vote for this charlatan.

Racists!

SouthernGent on June 19, 2008 at 10:16 PM

SO I just watched a segment of Olberdork (by mistake) and they were talking about this very subject. Instead of addressing the content and the fact that Obama is flip-flopping or lying or breaking his own word, Olberdouche and his guest focused on the ‘tactic’ of taking “quotes off of the floor” and using them against Obama.

STFU Keith. Your guy is a shallow chicago politician. You will lose in November.

cannonball on June 19, 2008 at 10:18 PM

Holy crap, that AP article is… um… unique. Admittedly, if I were an Obamaniac I would be tciked, and they apparently were if the articles rating is to believed.

It’s like the bizarro version of this piece, but more true.

DaveS on June 19, 2008 at 10:18 PM

Obama lied, his image died.

Is that # about the same as those who get their news/information soley from the MSM. [Iraq is lost, the economy is trash, we torture innocent civilians, Islam means peace]…the beat goes on. Death to America as reported by what, 7 to 10 editors at the major media outlets who dictate what gets reported and how its spun.(short money for Sorros)

I can no more disown him(Rev. Wright) than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can disown my white grandmother — a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed her by on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.

–Barack Obama

Chakra Hammer on June 19, 2008 at 10:30 PM

Obama just threw Public Financing under the Bus.

we need a list of things that Obama has thrown under the Bus..

1. His Grandmother
2. Rev. Wright
3. “The Black Community”?
4. campaign volunteers(that didn’t let Muslim women into the pictures)
5. his “Church

feel free to add more.

umm did he disown that white rapping priest?

Terrific,possibly,another 4 year side show
of Obama who takes the definition of Clinton’s
is is to a whole new level!

I can’t wait for Obama and the MSM to get
into high campaign gear,the Liberalspeak
in this election and what Obama really
means is going to spawn a whole new
generation of thesaurus!

This is all a distraction. He’s just doing what’s right for Michelle Obama’s kids.

Besides, it’s not the same public financing that he used to know.

It’s hardly shocking that Barry is a shameless liar, but unfortunately McCain has no one to blame but himself. And do the American people really care about this issue at this particular point in time?

Buy Danish on June 19, 2008 at 10:49 PM

Hey, come on now. Ya’ll can’t hold him to anything. Was it in writing? Was it a solemn promise? Did he swear on the bible? Did they shake hands on the deal?

See? He was just talking, ya know. Kinda like, “yeaha, I would do that”, but then things change, and ya know, “I’ve changed my mind and circumstances have changed, and no I can’t do that”.

change…..change….change….you want it, you got it.

I never got to know him in the first place..

Chakra Hammer on June 19, 2008 at 10:53 PM

Now I understand Hope and Change

Obie changes his position and hopes you don’t notice

Here is my transcription of Obie’s 2007 Change promo

You know Hope and Change haven’t just been … campaign slogans for me they’ve been the causes of my life

uh… From the time that I moved to Chicago to become a community organizer eh … working as a civil rights attorney to make sure that everybody’s vote counted, in each instance uh there were nay-sayers who said it couldn’t be done

But when millions of voices join together and insist on change, change happens

And that’s what we have to do on this election – Obama

The first sentence makes me think of a high school graduation ceremony I attended where the student valedictorian orated “.. when you come to the fork stuck in the road…”

I can sense Obie’s fork stuck in my pot roast already.

I’m telling you, Hillary was robbed and the sooner all you libs face it, the sooner we can start the healing process. It will fester like an open sore, until the Dems deal with it.

bloggless on June 19, 2008 at 11:25 PM

I think we should hold parties all over the country to divert the youth vote. Most of them would rather drink than vote, anyway, that’s why they vote for Obamy.

All his McCain-Feingold “reform” hasn’t worked out very well for him (or us for that matter). He has been a sanctimonious ass on this issue with all his blathering about “the special interests”. Now he’s stuck with accepting public financing and being grossly outspent by Obama, who has essentially outwitted him.

Geez. Geraldine Ferraro is on H&C whining about why anyone would criticize Obama for declining public financing.

Apparently, the official line is that he is just avoiding using our hard earned tax dollars to finance his campaign. The word is he will need much more than than the $80 million available through public financing to aggressively fight the right wing smear machines.

No mention of how McCain will fight MoveOn.org and Soros with only $80 million.

And the sight which met my eyes was that of a slender, girlish figure, similar in every detail to the earthly women of my past life… Her face was oval and beautiful in the extreme, her every feature was finely chiseled and exquisite, her eyes large and lustrous and her head surmounted by a mass of coal black, waving hair, caught loosely into a strange yet becoming coiffure. Her skin was of a light reddish copper color, against which the crimson glow of her cheeks and the ruby of her beautifully molded lips shone with a strangely enhancing effect.

She was as destitute of clothes as the green Martians who accompanied her; indeed, save for her highly wrought ornaments she was entirely naked, nor could any apparel have enhanced the beauty of her perfect and symmetrical figure.

Make you wonder how all those “poor people” can get these break these record fund raising numbers especially after all of the campaign finance laws have been passed..

(Seems, like Obama would care about the “poor people” and let them keep their money and fight with the money that he already has.. he has the lead in the polls and the money advantage already)

Deciet, deception and dishonesty is justified in Chicago Politics. He is just keeping with his roots and his mentors teachings.

In Chicago there is resurection for every election. Dead people vote early and often! It is a tradition!

Anyone that casts a vote for this nimrod fully deserves the ugly consequences. File under Bread and Circuses.
