The EMS Replay: Senator Jim DeMint

posted at 3:00 pm on June 17, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

I’m traveling today and won’t have a lot to contribute, but for those who missed this episode of the Ed Morrissey Show last week, here’s a replay of my interview with Senator Jim DeMint. He’s launching the Senate Conservatives Fund, which will be a PAC that focuses on conservative members of the Senate GOP caucus. The audio got kind of choppy, but I ask Senator DeMint how he sees this operating with the NRSC and what the future of his new fund will be. It also includes a fun conversation with Larry Schweikart, author of the upcoming 48 Liberal Lies About History (That You Probably Learned in School).

I’ll be back tomorrow with Jim Geraghty and lots of new posts!

Impeccable timing, Ed.

I was just looking for this in the archive. :-)

great interview. couldn’t believe when Schweikart said that most books on history of U.S. have full page photos of the Klan to represent the 20th century. crazy.

That’s a PAC I might be able to support.

First off, I like DeMint, He is better than 75% of his peers.

But this would be just one more Washington committee to take our money, rake off their administrative fees, filter out our messages and give whatever remains to people we may or may not think deserve it.

If you are in the mood to give political money at all, give it DIRECTLY to those who you think match your political ideology. Include your personal message with your checks. That’s the only way that they even have a chance to actually hear what you are telling them. Any other way, all they get is the ‘groupthink’ message from the committee leaders.

I really wish I could trust that this PAC will live up to its hype but after the way the repubs have been acting over the past 10 years, they will need to prove that they aren’t just another scam to rake up the conservative’s dollar.

Yep. I’m starting with my wonderful senator, John Cornyn, and this awesome veteran, Matt Young, who’s running against a particularly slimy incumbent.

DeMint makes Graham look like Ernest Hollings used to look compared to Strom Thurmond!! South Carolina is sometimes so schizophrenic!
