Via Infidels Are Cool, final confirmation that even AJ is more willing to have its orthodoxies challenged than “Countdown with Keith Olbermann.”

The host is a little pissy.
malan89 on June 17, 2008 at 4:28 PM
I love that man….right on point and not taking the al jazeera guys crap…I love when he says jerusalem is not in the quran and the guy starts to stutter :)
SoCalInfidel on June 17, 2008 at 4:28 PM
Jerusalem 100% for the Jews is the only way that peace can happen. There is no way that one city can be the capital of two different states. And Jerusalem is in the MIDDLE of Israel.
Arafat turned down the Clinton peace deal because he wanted all of Jerusalem. Jerusalem should be 100% Jewish capital, and Al Aqsa should also be under Israeli jurisdiction.
There is no Arab claim to either – other than their imagination.
ThackerAgency on June 17, 2008 at 4:29 PM
He’s soooo not getting invited to the Ramadan office party.
amerpundit on June 17, 2008 at 4:30 PM
If he says period at the end of a statement, is that like a fatwa?
BohicaTwentyTwo on June 17, 2008 at 4:36 PM
This guy (reporter) said that Israel was ‘occupying’ East Jerusalem. I wonder if he also thinks that the Jews stole the star of David from the Muslims too.
Jerusalem is not anywhere in the Koran. The ‘farthest Mosque’ could be anywhere. They say it is Al Aqsa because they want to stick it to the Jews.
ThackerAgency on June 17, 2008 at 4:37 PM
The Arabs are occupying Jerusalem (especially Al Aqsa), not the other way around.
ThackerAgency on June 17, 2008 at 4:37 PM
And the “Palestinians” stole the West Bank from Jordan, who stole it from Great Britain….zzzzzzz
ParisParamus on June 17, 2008 at 4:38 PM
So… What page is Jerusalem on in the Koran? Anyone?
Seixon on June 17, 2008 at 4:43 PM
I’m glad Al Jazeera is getting some balance.
CABE on June 17, 2008 at 4:47 PM
Who stole it from the Ottoman Empire, who stole it from the Byzantines, who stole it from the Romans, who stole it from the Jews, who took it as a spoil of war well over 3000 years ago from a bunch of people groups who no longer exist. (I’m sure I missed a few in between, but that’s out of pure memory)
mjk on June 17, 2008 at 4:48 PM
Please, this argument is not helping Michelle Obama’s kids
SoCalInfidel on June 17, 2008 at 4:50 PM
This is a distraction from the real issues – notably our ongoing study on how many Jews can we fit in the Mediterranean.
TheUnrepentantGeek on June 17, 2008 at 4:58 PM
Obama Advisors: Hey, let’s give Bin Laden access to the domestic courts, too. This way he can appeal his case, they say.
amerpundit on June 17, 2008 at 5:00 PM
You know, if they would speak english it would sound so much more sophisticated.
I’m suprised that AJ has a Jew on to actually argue a point without talking over each other. That’s kind of amazing.
Geronimo on June 17, 2008 at 5:03 PM
I loved Mordechai Kadar. He slammed the hosts’ points right back without giving up a single inch. And the host had nothing to respond.
Would that we had the same firmness here with regard to Israel. I can imagine Obambi trying to talk to either of these men (”can’t we just get along?”).
iconoclast on June 17, 2008 at 5:04 PM
Ha!
Is that the first time “lets talk politics” has been used to move to a less contentious subject?
VolMagic on June 17, 2008 at 5:04 PM
Well, actually, bin Laden at least can be held for crimes committed on US soil. I don’t see any problem with that. He’d be charged along the lines of Timothy McVeigh.
What’s problematic is giving a bunch of fighters from Afghanistan access to US courts, people who haven’t violated any US laws and have no business in a civilian US court.
Seixon on June 17, 2008 at 5:11 PM
Thankyou Allahpundit!
That was one of the most interesting and uplifting posts I’ve read in a long time. Good selection!
Old Country Boy on June 17, 2008 at 5:18 PM
Well, Jerusalem was, as far as I know the primary city of the Kingdom of Judah (or Judea) from about the 800’s BC until the time of the Romans. Israel was the kingdom that bordered it to the North. Jericho was at about the border of Israel and Judah and the Philistines lived along the coast making Judah landlocked while Israel had a long coastline.

Bah, they should just push the Muslim Palestinians into Jordan and Syria and tell the Christian Palestinians, “Welcome.”
Problem solved.
Tim Burton on June 17, 2008 at 5:25 PM
Those Mohammedans are such trolls. No, I’m not prejudiced…more like post-judiced.
stonemeister on June 17, 2008 at 5:26 PM
According to a timeline I found on Wikipedia, Muslim rule wasn’t established until 638AD, about 1600 years after the city’s Jewish conquest sometime around 1004 BC. By the time the Muslims got there, Jerusalem had been Jewish for a very long time (with some breaks in between).
crosspatch on June 17, 2008 at 5:27 PM
Remind me not to debate that guy…Jerusalem is not in the Koran, that was great.
right2bright on June 17, 2008 at 5:28 PM
Mr. Mordecai, you sir, are a stud.
Lunkinator on June 17, 2008 at 5:34 PM
“Mordecai” and “stud” are not two words one expects to see in the same sentence. Well done.
wccawa on June 17, 2008 at 5:40 PM
WOW!
This guy has stones bigger than the ones used to stone Arab daughters.
Of course, I’m sure it’ll be the last time he’s seen alive, but what a way to go out.
madmonkphotog on June 17, 2008 at 6:15 PM
Mr. Mordecai was awesome. Where are men like this in D.C.?
Mojave Mark on June 17, 2008 at 6:16 PM
Hats off to Mordecai, peace be upon him, but also to Al Jazeera for putting a Jewish commentator on the air and leaving him there while he challenged sacred policy of the Muslims. That takes nuts.
And finally, hats off to AllahPundit – peace be upon him, also – for pointing out the ridiculous propaganda of the Olberdouche, who lacks the nuts that a squirrel carries, if you know what I mean.
Jaibones on June 17, 2008 at 6:20 PM
Oh boy,I’m watching the left in action,er I mean
their left, stay on topic, and stop dragging the
koran and besmirching the Koran, into the argument!
This is a fact,3000 years,that the Iranian’s,or
in this particular case Palestines, don’t want to
acknowledge that the Jerusalem belongs to the
Israels,lock,stock,and barrel!
Here’s a little visual aid on Israel’s peaceful
nieghbors?

BL@KBIRD on June 17, 2008 at 7:47 PM
Hey now…. that host was just being a good democrat. He tried not to let any facts get in the way.
sMack on June 17, 2008 at 8:32 PM
Busted!!
Yes, they have a title deed, it’s called the book of Exodus.
labrat on June 17, 2008 at 10:21 PM
Read more on Dr. Modechai Kedar–of whom I’ve long been a fan. I’ve quoted his work–he is quite the expert–on the history of Jerusalem and how it was never important in Islam until recently, as a political football.
Debbie Schlussel on June 18, 2008 at 12:58 AM
Good articles Debbie.

AJ has been a mixed bag, and always will be. A lot of nutty stuff happens on it.
But I do have some limited respect for it, in that this is probably the only time millions of Arab viewers will ever get a chance to hear someone argue and debate the other side. In a portion of the world that has greatly limited debate and often shut out the other side completely, it’s good to see them get some sort of opposing viewpoints kicked in.
ChePibe on June 18, 2008 at 2:55 AM
Yes, and the Waqf is destroying the Temple Mount.
labrat on June 18, 2008 at 3:00 AM
I wish the interviewee had said “Jerusalem is our holiest city. Would you give up Mecca to non-Muslims? You don’t even let non-Muslims VISIT Mecca. So how do you expect us to give up Jerusalem?”
uptight on June 18, 2008 at 3:46 PM
I wish the interviewee had said :
“Jerusalem is our holiest city. Would you give up Mecca to non-Muslims? You don’t even let non-Muslims VISIT Mecca. Would you expect Catholics to give up the Vatican? No. So don’t even dream about us giving you an inch of Jerusalem. Forget it. Jerusalem is off the agenda.”
Not only is Jerusalem not mentioned in the Koran, but that Haddith has Mohammed admitting the whole thing was a hallucination.
Which is pretty obvious, really when you think about it. I mean Christians have a hard time getting people to believe in Intelligent Design – but imagine arguing the logic of Mohammed REALLY flying off to Jerusalem on a donkey with a woman’s head before leaping off into heaven to meet Moses & Jesus before returning back home in time for dinner.
The upshot of which is that a) Islam has no connection to Jerusalem (except, possibly, an uncredited hallucinogenic connection) and b) Palestinian Arabs have no sovereign rights over Jerusalem because there’s never been a Palestinian Arab state.
