I think this is a good example of the kind of stuff that McCain’s proposed League of Democracies would be involved in.

Gotta say I disagree. Now I may be wrong, but I believe that even if Israel were wiped out, they’d still have the big satan (us) to hurl their vitriolic speech / weapons at. Failing that, they’d have the ultimate fall back of sunni versus shiite hatred. To sum it up, it is in their nature to find somebody to hate for any asinine reason their pointy little heads can dream up.

Not sure it matters too much, but I guess I disagree. The Jews under Muslim rule had a variety of treatments at different times. Undoubtedly they had dhimmi status, but I’m not sure it was any worse than for any other non-Muslim.

I think the Muslims object most to foreign rule over “Muslim land.”

The Western Ideals of Freedom of Speech, Conscience and Religion are all potentialy lethal threats to Isalm. As long as America is sitting here having the Freedoms we have and still being a rich country, we are a threat to the very existance of Islam… and can not be tolerated…

You’re fooling yourself. China and India suck up every drop we don’t. If we were to somehow get off oil tomorrow, the money would still flow into the hands of the terrorists and their beefs with America and Israel would go on unabated.

Face it, there are only two ways to make these people stop hating us: 1) Leave Israel to twist in the wind or 2) Give them something better to do. George Bush thinks promoting democracy in the ME achieves the latter. In the absence of any better ideas, I’m willing to agree.

The U.N. is worse than useless; it is corrupt, hypocritical, and even criminal.

It’s far past time for Europe, and everybody else, to recognize that fact.

Bingo! The problem with UN isn’t just that it does nothing, it’s that it gives an excuse to others to do nothing. It’s the same problem with Obama’s unconditional negotiation. As long as were negotiating, there’s a chance of a breakthrough, so we can’t do anything to jeopardize that. Our enemies know this, and they’ll keep us at the table indefinitely, effectively negating any influence we may have over their goals. If their goals are dominating the middle east through terror groups like Hezbollah, satellite states like Syria, and militias like Sadr’s protected by an impending nuclear umbrella, we need to have influnce or cede the region. Obama thinks he can curb the Iranians from their goals, when his plan would actually insure they achieve those goals by making us impotent lest we disrupt the negotiations.

If Obama came out and recognized the possible danger of his policy and said, despite the dangers we need to move forward, I might have some respect for him. Unfortunately, he seems completely unaware that there could be a downside and is, IMHO, dangerously naive.

If we would only drill for oil on the Continental Shelf and exploit the shale oil in the Rockies, we wouldn’t need oil from the Middle East, and we could deal with them on our terms, not theirs.

Middle East oil is the scourge of the planet. We have our own oil and others means like nuclear and wind power to provide power but our “leaders” are too inept to make it happen.
