Believe me, in 20 years time we’ll be hearing about how Iraq and Iran are celebrating at least the tenth anniversary of there alliance.

Those positive signs are attracting little media attention in the United States, where the war-weary media is focused on the American presidential contest and skeptical of talk of success after so many years of unfounded optimism by the war’s supporters…

So will all the liberals.

but more than likely, the lead story will be “Tips For Gays Going Through Divorce”, and “Many Experts Say President Obama Has Reversed Climate Change”…while “Rumors of Violence Along The Euphrates” will be on page C27.

Holy crap. Does he know anything about conducting a war, a negotiation, diplomacy, whatever you want to call it? Up front say “I have no interest in [insert incredibly important strategic element here]“. Isn’t that just a colosally stupid kind of thing to say in such a situation? It seems so naive. Way to negotiate yourself the worst deal possible.

Next, he’ll have been for the surge, or will have identified and effected the entire thing.

Iraq may blow up precisely because Obama wins. There’s no reason to think we know something about him our enemies don’t.

We [will,may,might] win this battle, but the fight goes on as long as there is an imam preaching hate, a recruiter looking for volunteers, a financier paying those volunteers, and a leader to motivate and give the orders.

The only conclusion I could draw from that very long, and well written piece at TNR is, nobody knows what Obama will do. Probably Obama doesn’t know what to do.
