Hamas and petards

Hamas had to make an embarrassing admission today. Earlier, the terrorist group had blamed a Gaza explosion on an Israeli air strike, and even launched rockets in retaliation. However, it turns out that Hamas caused the blast themselves — while preparing to attack Israel:

The armed wing of Hamas has admitted that a massive explosion in the Gaza Strip on Thursday was caused by militants preparing an armed operation.

Seven people, including a four-month-old baby were killed in the blast, in Beit Lahiya, in the north of the strip.

Hamas had initially blamed the explosion on an Israeli air strike and responded with rocket fire, but Israel denied any involvement. …

“Members of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades were trying to prepare for a Jihad operation,” the Hamas movement’s armed wing said in a statement.

They succeeded, at least if they wanted to produce “martyrs”. The blast killed six of the Hamas terrorists, an infant, and wounded 50 more people in the area. If Hamas wants to continue with these kinds of martyrdom operations, Israel will not object, although the Palestinians might get tired of it — eventually.

Egypt wants to broker a peace between Hamas and Israel. Israel approves of Egypt’s efforts, but warns that the continuous rocket attacks will soon force the IDF to take serious action in Gaza to end the shelling of Israeli citizens. This aborted effort to create a large-scale terrorist attack shows that Hamas isn’t taking Egypt seriously. It’s a sign that we shouldn’t take Hamas seriously as a political entity and start treating it as the terrorist organization that it is.

Carl in Jerusalem calls this a “flying pigs moment”. I’m sure Hamas appreciates the pork reference.

the sad thing is that the Palestinian apologists will continue to blame Isreal for the explosion.

The BBC ran the story yesterday with the headline that it was an Israeli airstrike, obviously taking Hamas’ word for it.

I’m actually surprised Hamas admitted the blast was their own fault, or at the very least, didn’t come up with a story that IDF troops or the Mosad triggered the explosives to go off before they were ready for the explosives to go off.

jon1979 on June 13, 2008 at 10:54 AM

The conspicuous lack of pristine stuffed toys balancing atop the rubble in the picture should’ve been your first indication that it wasn’t an Israeli air strike…only Israeli stormtroopers are so precise.

Since there is no objection to pedophilia in Islam, I suppose what the baby does depends on its gender.

I’d rather go to Christian heaven and listen to an eternity of boring harp music than go to Muslim heaven with its low-brow drunken debauchery.

Civilians were killed? Will the nutjobs of the world even pause to consider the relation between this event and the civilian deaths when Israel defends itself by taking out the missile-firers?

Will they even consider the possibility that the terrorists are to blame for being so close to civilians?

I already know the answer. :\

Actually, they did. But the AP spent most of the day spinning the Hamas line and only slowly starting to let out the real news, that Hamas blew up the house themselves. And today, no article from the AP. The info is buried in yet another anti-Israel article about “settlement” expansion. The “settlements” they’re talking about are apartments in a Jerusalem suburb.

Even better, what are those guys gonna do when they get to “Muslim heaven” and find out they mis-translated the Quran and it’s actually 72 white raisins? Man are they gonna be pissed!

Although the baby might be OK with the raisins, if it was eating solid food by then.

/dark humor

In all seriousness, I feel sorry for the poor baby. Darn thing never had a chance to grow up. While it might have grown up to be another jihadi killer, I prefer to think it would have at least had a CHANCE to escape to the West and live a good peaceful life. No chance of that now. R.I.P. little baby, May flights of Angels wing thee to thy rest.

Here is how Christine Amanpour of CNN will report the story:
“Continued Israeli expansion in defiance of international law and US policy over five administrations caused desperation on the part of Palestinians. Realizing that they were losing their lands at an alarming rate, Palestinian militias used a house to store defensive weapons to combat the continous Israeli attacks. The defensive weapons inadvertently detonated and seven Palestinian civilians, many of them children, died in the work related accident. Despite the tragedy, Israeli settlement construction continued unabated. Former President Jimmy Carter, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, condemed the Israeli settlement activity and the collective punishment imposed by Israel. From occupied Palestine, this is Christine Amanpour reporing for Carter excuse me Cable News Network.”

“Settlement” Expansion Setback—–Women and Children Hardest Hit

Hamas his admitted today that one of their train-ees recommended by Jimmy Carter inadvertently rested his elbow on a detonator plunger sending six Hamas terrorist prematurely virgin hunting. A Hama’s spokesperson said it would only take another week to recieve another shipment of explosives from Iran via Hezbollah. “The shipment would be here sooner”, said the spokesman, “but it’s on a load of diapers routed thru Pakistan that bin Laden ordered when the ground shook under his feet a few days ago.”

Too bad there’s no video of the work accident. I always enjoy seeing terrorists being reduced to their component molecules. Helps with global warming, too. (It’s been a cold spring up here in the northwest.)

70 virgins…harps…Heaven

Jesus said there will be no sex in Heaven. There’s nothing said about harps, but there will be some awesome jams up there. And spending eternity with the glorious, loving, almighty, holy King of Kings is better than 1,000,000 virgins. No pain, no sorrow, only joy forever. My thought exactly.

It’s been shown over and over again that the majority of people will take the wore of Hamas/PLO/IJ/Hezbollah/ over the word of Israel on these matters.

What could possibly have prompted Hamas to admit that they did it to themselves while preparing for a terrorist operation?
