With predictable results. Via star tipster RLW:

The DUers are hot on the culprit’s trail. For such a famously ‘Net-savvy operation, Team Barry’s sure having a rough week.
Update: Someone claiming to be the guy responsible showed up in the DU thread and said he supports Obama and will be turning it into an anti-McCain site. The domain’s vastly more valuable to Obama as a redirect to his smear debunking page; if he wants to help him, he should just turn it over.
Update: Ah, actually, the guy doesn’t say he’ll be replacing this site with the anti-McCain site, just that he’s planning on putting one up.
Update: The website owner removed the parody page and replaced it with porn so I’ve removed the link.

Awesome.

I can legitimately say I laughed out loud.
Touche on the Osama bin Laden quote at the top.

He emailed Michelle Obama?
ninjapirate on June 12, 2008 at 4:57 PM
Someone claiming to be the creator of the site showed up on the DU(mmie) website assuring everyone that the site is just a joke, to make sure they knew how much he hated Bush for what he did to our country, and that a McCain version of the site would be up soon.
Whew!
I feel better already.
rihar on June 12, 2008 at 4:57 PM
We’ll call it a tie ninjapirate.
rihar on June 12, 2008 at 4:58 PM
The thought of hundreds of furious Obama drones getting Rickrolled brings me teh happy.
spmat on June 12, 2008 at 5:02 PM
The irony is that the McCain camp wish to emulate the Obama net-savvy operation.
This was hilarious to read.
McCain’s next.

what’s even funnier is that MSNBC was promoting the “org” site for awhile prior to realizing their mistake.

I can’t stop laughing. The experience and intellect of this man…Obama…is inspiring.

Yeah, I want Obama running our country. I can just imagine how smoothly that will go. What a nimrod.

Oh no the DU is now on the case! Run!
Chuck Schick on June 12, 2008 at 5:21 PM
The people commenting on Barry’s site are even funnier. One thinks its a copy right violation and the others fit the maker’s idea that if you take this seriously you shouldn’t be voting, maybe all the Obamanuts should take the point.
Rbastid on June 12, 2008 at 5:21 PM
I’m sorry, but that is hilarious!

becki51758 on June 12, 2008 at 5:40 PM
I found this rebuttal less than convincing:
“A recent email forward allegedly quotes passages from Senator Obama’s books related to race and religion. The majority of these are alterations, deliberate manipulations, and in one case, an outright fabrication of Obama’s words.”
So some of the remarks were accurately described as racially incendiary?
OBQuiet on June 12, 2008 at 5:47 PM
“That’s not the web site I knew.”
Kafir on June 12, 2008 at 5:54 PM
Nice touch, you get RickRolled if you click on ‘continued reading’.
Over30 on June 12, 2008 at 6:00 PM
Just fyi, the guy behind the site is a 6′7″ 360 pounds porn webmaster who likes bananas. If you do a whois search and google the email you can find out more…

“Crackas”.
Lol.
peski on June 12, 2008 at 6:14 PM
I just checked the .org site and it now has a YouTube vid of Wright/Obama connection…
I guess we can’t assume this guy is for Obama…
btw…I saw a report on one of the MS Media channels about this, and they had the .org site pulled up as a backdrop…you could see the Osama bin Laden quote at the top…it struck me as odd then…now I know what happened…
Phydeaux on June 12, 2008 at 6:37 PM
This is not the Rickroller Obama knew.
Topsecretk9 on June 12, 2008 at 7:16 PM
That’s pretty quick thinking on the guy’s part. He registered the domain immediately and came up with a good joke that goes along with the theme of the parody right away.
Typhonsentra on June 12, 2008 at 7:28 PM
The site now features porn links and has some nude thumbnails on it.
Stay classy, leftists.
Dave Shay on June 12, 2008 at 8:01 PM
Quick on his feet this one is.
jukin on June 12, 2008 at 8:06 PM
Hey family guy, how long does it take your wife to heat that banana up?
ninjapirate on June 12, 2008 at 8:11 PM
Hey AP, you may want to drop the link now or at least give a warning… the dude has thrown up all kinds of porn affiliate links as well as some rant about free speech and people being “Sheep”… which leads me to believe we’re dealing with a Ron Paul supporter if anything. They’re as mindless with their “sheep” crap as Obamites are with “Change” and “Hope”… usually a dead give away when you see the Sheep card pulled. Here’s the text currently at the top of the page (above the porn)

Message from the pornographer:
Gee, and I just figured he put the pron up as a way to make money. This was a really well done bait and switch.

How about “fightthetears,” is that taken?
S on June 12, 2008 at 11:41 PM
Or, how about “holdingbacktheyears”?
S on June 12, 2008 at 11:42 PM
How about a site where anyone can share their sitings of “smears,” you know, like when you’ve seen Grunions or Big Foot or The Mothman, or, for that very observant person, all of them.
S on June 12, 2008 at 11:46 PM
Hahaha…and that bartender-actor guy fell asleep during the filming of the Rick video. WORD.
S on June 12, 2008 at 11:49 PM
My liberal friends… ah um, I mean aquaintences did NOT find that funny AT ALL.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Imagine that.

Come on, Barry’s hoping for you, come on.”

I’d heard that some leftist journalist at the BBC was going to make a documentary about Barack Obama called “Barackumentary”, and that Edward Norton was planning on something called “Barack-umentary”.
For those interested, I have already reserved both:
barackumentary.com and
barack-umentary.com
Just haven’t decided what to do with them. Wanted to wait and see if he got the nod.
