Each and every one of them successfully resisted the temptation (surely it was hard for some) to allow the reality of the situation on the ground to intrude with their ideological positions! But they did! And . . . imagine how agonizing it must have been to blatantly insist on the imposition of an outcome that would have utterly undercut our strategic position throughout the entire region? Now, that took gumption, no?

I especially have such a deep and abiding respect for their Presidential selection, Barack Obama, who, bless him, has consistently refused to go to Afghanistan — he’s never been there! Why should he go? He has the subcommittee he presides over that can tell him all about it!! And, he last visited Iraq way back in January of 2006. Facts . . . blaghhhhhh!

You know, maybe my age is showing a bit, somehow but it all reminds me a little of the proud Democrat insistence on supporting the nuclear freeze, at the very same time that Ronald Reagan and George Bush were working to outmanuver and bankrupt the Soviet regime.

Yes. I think Democrats should proudly bring all of these things up! In fact, I think the Democrats should present a series of mini-documentaries on their policies over the years at their convention.

They should start with one entitled Celebrating the Jimmy Carter Years.
