Video: “I’m voting Republican”

posted at 6:19 pm on June 11, 2008 by Allahpundit

In the grand spirit of bipartisanship I offer this spank material to our three lefty readers. Combining the subtlety of that Republican Space Rangers cartoon from Grand Theft Auto IV with the evenhandedness of an average episode of Countdown with Keith Olbermann, it will, I trust, “get the job done.” Exit question for Paulnuts: Does this work for you too or is it borderline, like some sort of fetish video?

Blowback

Awful.

I guess this means I am not one of the phantom liberal readers of which you speak.

Obama is enough reason to vote for McCain for me. But if I had any doubts there is none now. Straight Republican ticket for me. Now excuse me while I go and club some baby seals.

SPCOlympics on June 11, 2008 at 6:26 PM

Yep, us Republicans want our kids uneducated, dirty water, unclean environment, we want our kids killed in war, we want old people to suffer, yeah, we want our kids and grandkids to suffer because we don’t care about our families…every election the same old thing, the Republicans want their kids and neighbors to suffer.

Republicans are the party of fear?

jukin on June 11, 2008 at 6:30 PM

Let’s how Mr. Honorable McCandidate does marketing: Let your opponents define you and your issues. Accept all their premises and assure your base that you have a new, mavericky way to lead the country. And of course, if your own side tries to elect a Republican, you loudly denounce that effort, oh yes.

RushBaby on June 11, 2008 at 6:30 PM

I wonder how many registered independents comment on this site?

At least one.

AZCoyote on June 11, 2008 at 6:30 PM

Heh. Pretty funny.

I’m voting Democrat because I want to be able to have sex with whatever animal I want, dead or alive.

I’m voting Democrat because I want my wife raped and my child murdered, by the same guy who did that to another family and got released after he was rehabilitated.

I’m voting Democrat because I liked 9-11, and want it to happen again and again.

I’m voting Democrat because I don’t want to make any decisions. I want to be told how to live.

Ahh. too easy.

VolMagic on June 11, 2008 at 6:30 PM

When I was in elementary school 30 years ago, there were around 30 kids in all my classes. We did just fine. I don’t feel my education was negatively impacted at all by having that many kids in the class. I think it’s a ploy by teacher’s unions to create more jobs.

Mark1971 on June 11, 2008 at 6:30 PM

There is a simple reason for this very tired cliche. If you can’t convince the people directly of the benefits of socialism (which the left can’t, it’s a loser for them and they know it), than portray the alternative as something evil.

NotCoach on June 11, 2008 at 6:31 PM

After McCains recent statements, I’d say almost everyone here, except those three lefties, is a defacto independent.

I believe you are wrong. I suspect that Barry Obama will be the last closet socialist the left runs. I think many Americans are ripe for socialism’s promises. Most people have to learn from their own mistakes, if they’re able to learn at all.

Does anyone else here read these blogs all day and get stressed out and think about the things going on in this country all day and night and get scared? as if we dont have enough stress going on in our lives already. I think blogs are a good thing because they keep everyone informed and they give everyone an outlet to voice their opinion but they can also be harmful because they can stress people out because they can see their country going down the tubes…or maybe im just crazy…im pouring another cup of coffe and going to huffington post to make fun of the lib’s…that always makes me feel better

Exit question for Paulnuts: Does this work for you too or is it borderline, like some sort of fetish video?

Hit and miss. I’m with the video-makers on the government defining and controling marriage. I’m with the caricatures in the video with regard to letting the free market do its thing (health care, food, water, corporations, energy). I’m with the video-makers on the Constitution being a “headache.” And a lot of the other positions are misrepresentations, so those just make the video-makers look silly.

It’s a typically incongruous mix of anti-Capitalist points (with which I disagree) and pro-individual rights points (with which I agree). So, standard “liberal” fare: motivated not by principles, but by pragmatism. As with the neocons, I have some overlap with them, but we lack a common base of principles, so I find it hard to cheer too loudly when their pragmatism happens to settle on a moral position. After all, if the data changed, their position could change — so it’s not so much agreement as temporary cohabitation of a position on a particular topic.

Feel free to totally disregard that statement. I only stuck it in so people wouldn’t think I was picking on Rush/Republicans unfairly. I probably shouldn’t have as it actually sounds anti-McCain and distracts from the point of my comment.

Here’s the script for a rebuttal:

“I’m voting Democrat because…”

“I like wait two hours to buy gas.”
“I’m too dumb to handle a private social security account.”
“I think judges should have to the power to amend the Constitution.”
“My publicist told me it’d be good for my image.”
“I believe all the best policies were thought up in the 1930’s.”
“I want the terrorists to have the same rights we have… including the right to make private phone calls to their co-conspirators.”
“Filling out my tax forms isn’t challenging enough.”
“Who better to ration my healthcare than the federal government. It‘s not like they have more important things to do.”
“National borders are so last year.”
“I don’t mind paying $5 a gallon for gas as long as a place no one ever goes to never changes.”
“I think the federal government spends too much money on our military and not enough on feces art.”
“I don’t care about taxes, my mommy and daddy pays those.”
“I’m intrigued by the idea of an international Caliphate.”

…and so on.

I’m voting democrat because this rap artist that I think is really cool said I should, and considering that he was grabbing his crotch the entire time and referring to people as “bitches” made it just so real for me.

Cuz I, like, really think the environment and stuff is important and we need to save it and stuff. Ya know?

I’m voting Democrat because I’m sick and tired of my incandescent light bulbs, the notion of earning my keep, and this whole “diversity of opinion” nonsense.

I’m voting Democrat because I really CARE what Europeans think about us.

The Democrats do not care what Europeans think.

Oh…my bad. It must be the mouth-breathing, brain-dead, hate America SmAKTards they pander to…Let me restate:

I’m voting Democrat because they stand for nothing, believe in nothing, and will swing which ever way the daily Hor$e*hit polls are pointing.

No argument here.

Heh. They don’t care what the U.N. thinks either.

I think that the two biggest myths about the Democrats is that they are the anti-war party and that they care one whit what Europeans think. Okay if you’re an EU Commissioner or the Prime Minister of Sweden then yeah the Democrats might listen to you but thats it.

When Bill Clinton decided he wanted to bomb a European country on behalf of multiculturalism and the prerogative of “enforcing multi-ethnic states in Europe” (Gen. Wesley Clark) he didn’t so much as consult the UN let alone seek any kind of UN approval.

I know. See paren., above. Sorry for ‘eating’ a word.

Ah, I understand.

Copied just to say that I agree on socialism, though for sure we know the worst of the two. But socialism/Marxism do shackle us in many ways, and the latter is totalitarian and enslaves/kills, literally, millions.

Marx talked about freeing people from their shackles and I think his very real despair over the slavery he observed when travelling in America must have made a significant mark on his thinking.

The reason I conflated the two is because of the Biblical command from Genesis that Abraham Lincoln used to quote to his political opponents:

Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread.

This exact same argument could be used to oppose Communism.

This format would be very easy to rip off, anyone with a camera and a few friends could do it.

doubleplusundead on June 11, 2008 at 8:38 PM

aengus, remember when the lefties loved Bill Clinton, in spite of his pragmatism/centrism? They’ve thrown him under the bus a while ago.

Kerry cares about Europe and the U.N.

Obama cares more about the rest of the world, including Europe and the U.N. than he does about anything else. To them it’s how much we are ‘loved/like’, not how much we s/b respected/feared. I prefer the latter.

Liked, darn it…

Entelechy on June 11, 2008 at 8:45 PM

Regarding my above statement:

Marx wrote contemporaneously about the American civil war and he was, of course, supportive of the Republians and emancipation.

Was Karl Marx the original RINO? Irony abounds.
