James Carville: Are you ready for Vice President Gore (again)?

I for one am not, and it sounds like the Goracle isn’t either. But never mind that. Are we to take this as a signal that Hillary’s not interested in VP? Surely Carville knows her mind well enough that he wouldn’t be out pushing other people for the job unless he had reason to think she’s not in contention. Granted, the odds of an Obama/Gore ticket are so slim as to make this proposal worthless, but why not at least qualify it by saying his first choice is Obama/Clinton and then Obama/Gore as an alternative?

A lot can change in a month, I guess.

Gore? Bring him on.

jgapinoy on June 11, 2008 at 8:52 PM

Hillary has spent how many years playing second bannana? She done with that gig, AP. It’s the top spot or nada. Beside, can you imagine billy jeff with an entertainment budget and nothing but free time on his hands?

DrW on June 11, 2008 at 8:52 PM

Did Mary Maitlan write this gag for him?

Limerick on June 11, 2008 at 8:53 PM

Two haughty elitist buffoons on one ticket w/b too much, but I’d say go for it. The country is sick and tired of Gore.

It’s been amazing how quiet he’s been lately, so this is a totally plausible scenario. He’d have to take a drastic pay cut.

Buffoonery and hot air options just climbed very high.

Entelechy on June 11, 2008 at 8:54 PM

This ticket might even make MB4 rethink his position.

Entelechy on June 11, 2008 at 8:56 PM

Al is too busy counting his money.

SoulGlo on June 11, 2008 at 8:56 PM

Now you know we can’t have two messiahs running the country simultaneously. There can be only one.

CP on June 11, 2008 at 8:57 PM

No way he’d have to debate AGW.

mred on June 11, 2008 at 9:03 PM

Gore won’t run because then he’ll be accountable (as accountable as politicians get) for all his “we should pass laws against global warming, climate change, the cookie monster, etc” rhetoric. His platform would dissolve the instant he stated the obvious in office: climate change legislation would destroy the economy.

Meric1837 on June 11, 2008 at 9:04 PM

Now you know we can’t have two messiahs running the country simultaneously. There can be only one.

Does that mean they’ll try and cut each others’ heads off? Cuz I might buy that on PPV.

Have we really come to this?

McCain’s people so bereft of conservative support that they intend to scare the right to vote for a liberal while herding Hillary supporters from the other side?

Wonder how much it cost McCain to get the Carville endorsement.

highhopes on June 11, 2008 at 9:11 PM

Well why not? Put the Maoist in the Oval Office, the Stalinist in at State and the Goreacle at Veep. Add Ayers at Education, Kerry at Defense and Dohrn at Justice and you have a double trifecta that would put the all Socialists in a permanent state of ecstasy.

Of course, the country would be in the pit but they won’t care.

SeniorD on June 11, 2008 at 9:18 PM

VP Gore? Heh, Carville sounds like he ate a rotten crawdad in last night’s gumbo.

petefrt on June 11, 2008 at 9:21 PM

The SS Obama is taking on water. We’ve got the “poor Michelle Obama” and the “McCain has a terrible temper” and the “McCain is old” and now “Al Gore to the rescue” today.

huh

funky chicken on June 11, 2008 at 9:24 PM

I think Robert Byrd should be the VP choice. It will balance the ticket- both from the perspective of age and from the perspective of black and KKK.

Wow. I didn’t know that someone could pile on three levels of BS into one comment. Bravo highhopes!

wise_man on June 11, 2008 at 9:50 PM

I think that it would be much too big a step down for Al Gore to go from the biggest money making shyster ever High Priest of the Church of Apocalyptic Global warming to being a measly Vive President again.

MB4 on June 11, 2008 at 9:53 PM

wiseman on June 11, 2008 at 9:50 PM

I’ve always been an overachiever! ;-0

When did they remove your humor old man?

highhopes on June 11, 2008 at 9:59 PM

In 2016 he’d be 68, close to Hillary’s age.

Hillary is not interested to be VP now, or ever. She has to run in 2008, or again in 2012. Have you noticed how quiet she’s been since Saturday?

Entelechy on June 11, 2008 at 10:01 PM

Carville has been spending too much time in voodoo shops on Bourbon Street listening to psychic’s who give him political advice by gazing into their crystal ball.

abinitioadinfinitum on June 11, 2008 at 10:01 PM

abinitioadinfinitum on June 11, 2008 at 10:01 PM

That’s not true!

The strip clubs are on Bourbon Street. The voodoo shops are closer to the French Market.

highhopes on June 11, 2008 at 10:05 PM

Hey, why’d you cut it off? I wanted to hear Bill Bennett’s response!

MrLynn on June 11, 2008 at 10:06 PM

James Carville is a McCain supporter?

funky chicken on June 11, 2008 at 10:07 PM

So, he is getting his advice from strippers? :)

yes please, please, please pick Gore… sign your own pink slip.

Kaptain Amerika on June 11, 2008 at 10:22 PM

Sorry but I can’t take Gore blathering for four years about “Global Warming” “Gorbal Warning”.

He and Tipper should go back to demanding warning labels for rap albums.

Claypigeon on June 11, 2008 at 10:24 PM

Gore wouldn’t bring much to the table. The only ones who adore him are the same fruitcakes who are already supporting Obama.

Connie on June 11, 2008 at 10:26 PM

someone shoot me, please, if this man ever runs for national office again

Somebody shoot Gore!

Algiers Baby!

I was born and raised there but live in Gretna. Still an Algierian at heart.

abinitioadinfinitum on June 11, 2008 at 10:37 PM

“alright bill bennett, what do you think?”

I didn’t hear his answer but I guarantee it was wishy washy.
If the question were directed at me I would have said, “algore is a bitter man who hates America and his ideas would destroy the American economy and with it throw the world into chaos. carville is a psycho and if Mary Matalin knows what’s good for her she will retain robert bennett as her divorce lawyer.”

peacenprosperity on June 11, 2008 at 10:56 PM

Have you noticed how quiet she’s been since Saturday?

The super delegates are wavering. hillary will stay put through the vote at the convention. Only if and when barry clinches the number of delegates he needs will she fully concede. It ain’t gonna happen though. It will be a parade of comedy from here through August. My money is on hillary winning the nomination.

peacenprosperity on June 11, 2008 at 11:00 PM

Crikey. You’ve got Bennett sitting right there and you play us Carville on Gore? So, what DID Bill Bennett think?

Tuning Spork on June 11, 2008 at 11:18 PM

Actually, listening to Carville and/or Begala during the upcoming campaign ought to be oodles of fun for the “read between the lines” content alone. They’re both sold to the public as Democratic Party insiders when they’re on CNN, but like Hillary, how much either James or Paul really want an Obama victory is questionable, since not only does an Obama win freeze out the missus until she’s almost 70 in 2016, it also means Carville and Begala will be “outsiders” within their own party, compared to the top shills for Barack.

So James’ natural instincts will be to slam McCain and Republicans, but his self-preservation ones will be to offer up nutty ideas to the Obama people like this one, in hopes they’ll either be stupid enough to take it, or the media will be stupid enough to run with it and case Barack more problems. Should be fun to see if the CNN people continue to treat him like a wise oracle if it looks like he’s really sandbagging the party with ideas that would actually help McCain.

jon1979 on June 11, 2008 at 11:31 PM

God that man is ugly. Can someone please give him a big mug of STFU?

Brian Mallard on June 11, 2008 at 11:48 PM

Gore is not about to take the 100,000% pay cut or give up the godhead status as the Pope and primary deity of the Church of GlobalWarming to be a mere VP again.

He might be willing to take on the Presidency as kind of a side job, but certainly wouldn’t take second seat to Obama….

Or wait… Maybe he is being floated for McCain’s VP? ( I didn’t read the article or comments yet)… Yeah, that is a more likely pairing…. he might go for that, to hang out with his old Senate fraternity buddy and current CoGW Acolyte.

LegendHasIt on June 12, 2008 at 12:14 AM

Gore should not and most likely would not give up his title of official “Man in the Moon” to a lesser job. He invented the internet and now, since being named the official ‘man in the moon,’ really seems more energized these days. Shine, on Al. Shine on, dude.

Travis1 on June 12, 2008 at 12:50 AM

I was told we were now in the post-Clinton era. I would like to see the manager, please.

DrSteve on June 12, 2008 at 8:42 AM

I always pegged Al’s IQ as somewhere between a rock and a wilted dandelion. Even he has the smarts to dodge this rap. Carville must have gotten “a bad ice-cube” or two in the green room.
