So Maverick’s wife’s family are brewers, and Kerry’s wife’s family make catsup.

No contest. Maverick’s wife’s family rock.

I’ve been to the Bud facility in NH. They have the Clydesdale’s there. Beautiful location.

So Maverick’s wife’s family are brewers

I thought they made their money with a Bud distribution network, not brewing the stuff….?

McCain knows what he is talking about when he says that “somewhere along the line Republicans became big spending Democrats.” Why? Because McCain is one of them! He may not have been as greedy as Jack Murtha or Ted Stevens but the whole AF tanker issue is based on disgruntled contractors who contributed to McCain! Let’s not forget that!

When he pushes amnesty through, he will automatically become the biggest spender, the biggest wealth distributor, and the biggest enabler in the history of our country.

terryannonline on June 10, 2008 at 11:52 AM

Actually, this is a great start differentiating not only himself from Democrat big spenders, but also from Bush’s spending habits that grew mushroomed top heavy bureaucratic federal additions vs. streamlined government employment enabled via educated/trained employees and the finest computers/programs that Fred Thompson legislated and endorsed as POTUS platform. Go Fred! Tie McCain to Fred’s platform and the GOP will win ‘08!

Valiant on June 10, 2008 at 12:00 PM

Like I said, I trust him to veto earmarks. He is just stubborn enough to stick it to Republicans and Democrats.

If he wins, how craven would it be to see Republican leadership then back a moratorium on earmarks when they know McCain is going to veto them anyway?

Theworldisnotenough on June 10, 2008 at 12:00 PM

The Bud facility in Los Angeles has got to be the biggest brewery in the world and Clydesdales aren’t what they’re using to brew what they want you to think of as beer.

The gaff was funny. Sure to be a SNL takeoff in there someplace.

When McCain speaks like this he is at his best. He is starting to gain more and more points with me every day this campaign goes on. I get all the naysayers but I have to ask at this point what is your strategy? Is it to say this is why I won’t vote for him, or is it to say this is why you should not vote for him? Honest question. Just trying to figure out what you are trying to accomplish. Are you working for his defeat or just trying to get your voices heard?

LimeyGeek on June 10, 2008 at 12:06 PM

This is no comparison to ObaMessiah speaking in tongues.

abinitioadinfinitum on June 10, 2008 at 12:06 PM

All he has to do now if define “earmark”. He can sign-off on anything he wants and say that it wasn’t an earmark. It sounds good, but the devil is in the details. Is his global warming bill an earmark? Also, what about cutting the size of government? That’s something that a President can actually do.

orlandocajun on June 10, 2008 at 12:09 PM

What he meant to say was, “I will veto every single beer bill, including the one that limits CEO pay.”

Good Lord, his performance in prepared speeches is about equal to GWB’s. Which is to say, it couldn’t pass Speech 101.

Actually he got my vote from this, because I am thinking I would rather behaving a beer now myself. :-)

JeffinSac on June 10, 2008 at 12:14 PM

All ye pickers of nit. This was nuthin’ but a slip of the tongue combining the words “bill” and “earmark” and he immediately corrected himself. This should be in the Headlines, maybe, but I don’t think this deserves a post. Hey Allah, why not just start a special “slip of the tongue” and “gaffe” section for McCain and Obama for the next 5 months?

Brat on June 10, 2008 at 12:16 PM

If McCain has ears to hear, he’s bound to figure out that his booger legislative deals with liberal Democrats left him slimed across the country.

However, that McCain would not use ear-marks against his principles should be well noted by his detractors, taken into account as per “trusting” his word when given, say for example as he would stand pro-life against abortion.

But the entire Border Security issue must be done above board ASAP with the finest that technology provides as our sovereign status deserves only the best when protecting America and her citizens. If the Saudis can build an impregnable border, we can do it better. THAT is the GOP motto: built with pride in the USA. JOBS, JOBS, JOBS.

Finally, the identification of our population must be addressed so as to weed out the illegal aliens from our social network and benefits. The e-verify program is too limited and a very poor excuse given the technology available today that our government neglects. It will be interesting to see the legislation to document citizens with social security cards that are fool proof to tampering. Obama’s Marxist approach to require full fingerprinting of all citizens in Federal records enforcing fines/jail without cooperation has been deservedly attacked.

maverick muse on June 10, 2008 at 12:21 PM

I get all the naysayers but I have to ask at this point what is your strategy?

To vote for the person closest to my outlook on things. McCain has several positive attributes that should seal the deal. However, he has several negative attributes that make sealing the deal impossible. McCain is fortunate in that Obama is even further away from sealing the deal with me.

So I’m left waiting on one of the candidates make the sale.

Factually 100% incorrect again highhopes. Boeing people went to prison over the bad tanker lease program that McCain torpedoed. He was right about the Boeing lease deal being a screwjob for the USAF, and the US taxpayer.

The Airbus is a better plane, more functional, and will lead to a big new factory in Alabama.

I didn’t say staying home would be the “ruin of the country” but I think a Democrat POTUS + Democrat majority Congress will have an adverse affect to conservative values. If I R A Darth Aggie is still trying to be “sold” by the candidates at this point, I implied the Neal Boortz rule: too stupid to vote.

Brat on June 10, 2008 at 12:47 PM

BigD on June 10, 2008 at 12:40 PM

We all have had months and months of yes-Mac/no-Mac arguments. To me it now all boils down now to three types of voters.

1. You want John McCain to win.
2. You don’t know who you will vote for.
3. You want John McCain to lose.

Everyone keeps throwing out the same yes-Mac/no-Mac points.
They haven’t changed at all. I think it is time for the type#2s and type#3s to state the intention of their attitude. Are they trying to decide or are they trying to derail.

If I R A Darth Aggie is still trying to be “sold” by the candidates at this point, I implied the Neal Boortz rule: too stupid to vote.

Brat on June 10, 2008 at 12:47 PM

Well, I am a Reagan Republican and conservative and I think I can understand IRA Darth Aggie’s point. I think it is this: McCain thinks he can win without a significant portion (slice it any way you want to) of the conservative vote and has so far not displayed any intention of appealing to it/them. The general campaign has only just begun and Obama has an opportunity to reach out to voters that McCain has already decided he doesn’t need or, even worse, like. Obama hasn’t done it yet, but he well may.

Myself, I would never vote for Obama. But if by chance Obama should at some point reach out to some conservatives that McCain does not acknowledge, then I can see some people
moving over.

Valiant on June 10, 2008 at 1:04 PM

Sure. It puts you square in the Mac-to-lose camp. That’s fine. I guess I’m just tired of reading the same thing over and over. I am a one issue voter this election. Everything else is way down my priority list. There are no arguments against McCain that I have seen that will change my vote based on that one issue of mine. None. Zero. Zip. I’m just trying to be honest about it. Sure some scandal could derail my vote, but I don’t find anything in my reservations about McCain that trump my reason to vote for the man.

Limerick on June 10, 2008 at 1:10 PM

In this election, I believe the VP choices will definitely be important — on both sides. Both candidates need veeps more conservative than they are.

This is a huge reason I cannot vote for McCain. Closing Gitmo, calling waterboarding torture, and 100 year occupations of Islamic countries (with no oil or less Islam in return) are recipes for certain loss in the WoT. Also an unsecure border defines national insecurity.

Valiant on June 10, 2008 at 1:29 PM

Valiant on June 10, 2008 at 1:29 PM

Waterboarding is torture – you can play all the euphemistic O’Reilly word-games you want.

As for my fellow Conservatives, you have two choices if you want to save America, either you renounce the Republican party, start raising money and form your own party or you find a piece of land in Canada, buy it and start living together on conservative principles.

I’ll probably go with the third choice: Drinking.
