I hope you were being sarcastic. Government already has just about every private agency spying on you. Banks, hospitals, doctors and employers just to name a few. But neighbor spying against neighbor is what they REALLY want.

Get the public at each other’s throats and you have succeeded in diverting all attention away from the government’s treason while they steal the country from under you. This is an old and time honored socialist tactic.

Many leftist organization are working to promote so called “hate crime laws” which would also work toward this end.

They elected him in the first place, then re-elected him despite his dictator-like “presidency” during his first term when he was rounding up and jailing anyone and everyone evenly remotely critical of his regime. They even kept him around after he hijacked all non-native big corporations and then hijacked all the media outlets and turned them into state-run media outlets that his regime controls.

Let them have their cake and eat it too. They shall reap what they have sown, and I have not one iota of sympathy for them. Venezuelan voters are 100% all adults and they put Hugo in the position he holds today, and they keep him there.

Chavez was forced to backtrack on this law due to opposition from the Catholic Church in the country both because the law was a violation of an individuals human rights and because local priests would have been forced to pass along information they received during confessions to the government. He will probably have the national assembly draw up a new law allowing an exemption for the clergy and try to force through the bill again.
