Now, let’s imagine that a private health insurer pulled that kind of stunt. It would make headlines, and political candidates across the spectrum would start including Juana as the victim of the corporate, profit-centered mentality of the American health care system. Except, of course, it doesn’t happen. Insurers can’t kick people off their rolls for getting cancer after their coverage starts, and the US government doesn’t deport legal immigrants for dying before they’ve serviced enough Americans to make them worthwhile.

The sad thing is that government run health care also eliminates the freedom you have to take your business somewhere else! You can't leave when a company does crap like this so they have no incentive other then cutting costs and they don't care how they do it!

It gets even more disgusting.

Does anyone remember the Khadr case? When young Al Qaeda terrorist Khadr, who'd been paralyzed in combat with US forces in Af-stan, was re-admitted to Canada after release from Guantanamo, he was supposedly ineligible for Canadian public health care, for a minimum 6 months wait period, due to his having been out of Canada for years (including a lot of time in Pakistan and Af-stan BEFORE capture by US Special Forces. During this time, young Khadr was with Popa Khadr and older brothers, actively involved in Al Qaeda. Osama bin Ladin actually attended an older Khadr brother's wedding in Af-stan).

Despite these Canadian health service regulations, young Khadr was IMMEDIATELY admitted to an orthopedic specialist hospital in Toronto for anticipated multiple surgeries, all at public expense. Too bad for Juana Tejada that she's not a Muslim woman and an Al Qaeda terrorist

Cap'n Ed, one services a car, one serves people, one only services people in a sexual sense, and a Clintonian one at that. Seeing as how Canada is screwing this immigrant, perhaps this was a double-entendre?

You will soon learn - you do not question the State. What the State decides is to be accepted. When you have chosen to have the State serve you, you will, also, serve the State. They go hand-in-hand.

Do not question the State. The State is never wrong. Soon, you will learn. Yes, very soon.

shick - a better explanation of what our HRCs can do (can order) comes from Ezra Levant, being hauled before the kangaroo courts for daring to publish the Mo-toons in Canada:

http://ezralevant.com/2008/06/what-could-mark-steyns-punishm.html

I don't want to say this is why I'm SeoulMan and not, say, TorontoMan, but add our crushing taxes, our imploding healthcare system (best in the world, you stupid neo-con Americans!), and our complete disregard for hundreds of years of common law at the hands of extra-judicial Star Chambers, and you'll see why I'm not eager to return any time soon.

She should have entered Canda illegally. Then it would have been racist to deport her. Isn't that how it works?

But you'll all be happy to know that while chiropractic and optometry visits were "de-listed", the Ontario Human Rights Commission decided that the provincial government (ie me and anyone else who has paid taxes in the province) must pay for sexual "reassignment" surgery.

I remember an hgtv show on selling real estate where the Canadian woman was selling her house to fund care for her autistic son. He was diagnosed at 3 and put on the waiting list and was t/4 eligible for treatment until age 7. However, she knew that he would age-out before he got treatment, due to massive numbers of people ahead of her, so she was selling her house to pay for private treatment.

Yes, all health care is rationed; in the US we give it to people who people who plan ahead and insure for expenses. (And some for illegals, too, but that's another story.)

Here's another glorious rationing story from England: Woman Denied Pap Smear Now Dying

It's typical of healthcare in Canada. When our governments start feeling the pinch, they cut. Usually, they "de-list" services, ie., now you gotta pay for it yourself (taxes don't count, of course), like some optometry, dentistry, and 'elective' surgery now. Or, like our not-missed NDP (socialist) government in Ontario, they decide to choke the demand by cutting med school entries, thus creating our current (desperate) shortage of family physicians. Hey, no doctors means no patients means savings! It can't fail!

I’m reminded of Animal Farm where the once strong work horse is <strike>sent</strike> sold to the glue factory by the <strike>profitting</strike> gluttonous <strike>government</strike> pigs.

"Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses."

Cold hearted government is saddening.

America should take them but it's hard to fit it in without seeming like amnesty. It wouldn't be the same because she came to Canada following the rules. She could come to the U.S. following the rules to her death bed.

This is very cruel, but this is exactly what is to be expected from a government run healthcare system.

Socialized medicine is pure collectivism, its the stuff the old Soviet Union and communist China is made of. It spreads misery equally and that's all its good for. Such a system is anathema to individual rights, and individual rights are totally destroyed under such a system. You become a slave to the collective, but more accurately you become a slave to the elitist in power. And you have no say in the matter anymore, you have no recourse if your rights are denied, you gave that all up for "free healthcare" even though your tax bill will double whether you use the system or not.

Whenever the government takes over private sector business the results are always awful. Look at our public schools as the perfect example. Do you think public schools are free? Trust me, a huge amount of your tax bill goes to pay for public schools whether you have any children in them or not. Even if your children are in private schools you STILL MUST PAY for the scandalous, incompetent and dangerous public school system.

You can expect the same scandalous, incompetent and dangerous result from socialized medicine, except this time your very life will be threatened by government incompetence rather than just having to suffer with uneducated kids.
