The MSM’s meddling is far more adept and controlling than anyone realizes. May I suggest a book: The Control Room: How Television Calls the Shots in Presidential Elections. Plissner never really actually critiques his own profession (!) for their corrosive meddling, but if we weren’t living through it right now, it’d be shocking how the self-ordained “media elites” manipulate the primary process for their own end.

This book is almost 10 years old. Plissner rather coyly argues that the media just does what it does for the bottom line, and maybe 10 years ago people would’ve actually believed that. But we all know that today the media is nothing more than the propaganda arm of the Left. There’s no denying it. So the rather tee-hee “insider” aspect of Plissner’s writing now serves to underscore the farcical primary process in this 2008 election. It has become a farce and a calamity of gargantuan proportions for our country.

Final comment from me on this issue you placed between us. I made no such implication about your money being “tainted.” And I’d suggest to you that the reason you thought you “would make me mad” or “even more angry” by donating to my charities is your projection. I was not and am not mad or angry at you. And no, I wasn’t ready to think anything about you much less the worst. My comment “someone like you” refers to the type of personality you portrayed in your exchange with me. It wasn’t a judgment it was an observation. Perhaps you should go back and read over the comments that brought you to this point because you never offered the opportunity to me to have a discussion about our differences on this specific subject. Actually you shut down the opportunity to have a discussion by proposing that I place a wager with you and in 2 ½ years and 4 ½ years we’d see who was right. You then accused me of chickening out of a wager I never agreed to.

It was never about the money. It was about credibility. Opinions are worth nothing if you are unable to back them up with either verifiable facts or if you are willing to sacrifice something in the belief that you are correct.

I’m willing to stand behind my beliefs, even if it hurts. Occasionally I like to test to see other people are willing to do the same, or if mere lip service is as far as they are willing to go.

The last time I did anything just for the money was my summer job chopping weeds around the golf course with a hand scythe when I was 11 years old. I hated doing that so much, that after that, every job I took, every business I started was done for the excitement, the learning and/or the enjoyment… Money is about #45 on the list of things that motivate me.

But no, it doesn’t make me mad that I don’t get any “brownie points”.

I didn’t mean lack of credit for the brownie points would make you mad: I meant donating to them them after you implied that your charities would be better off without my tainted contributions.

You still don’t have a clue as to what kind of person I am, what is in my past, present or might be in my future. Because I challenged you, you are ready to think the worst of me overall, rather than just keeping it to whatever differences we have on this specific subject and whatever our specific responses say about our personalities on this one specific thread.

I say this is all about YOU and not our country or our military AND I don’t need YOU to support my Senator or our military.

How’s this then: We make the wager. Loser’s money goes to the VFW in the winners name. Winner gets his stake back, or donate it too, as the mood strikes him at the moment of truth.

The reason I say VFW, rather than picking one of the other charities is because I refuse to support the RNC or the State Parties, due to what they have allowed to happen under their watches, and the others may not be functioning by the time the wagers come to fruition.

I’ll even sweeten the pot. 1.5 to 1 odds on either one, but not both, of the wagers, your choice. You kick in $500, I’ll put in $750. You win, the VFW gets at least $750. I win, the VFW gets at least $500… that you would have given them anyway, right?

Plus, I’ll go one further: I’ll donate $25.00 directly to Cornyn’s campaign within 24 hours of you accepting the wager. He gets that, guaranteed, even if you renege on the deal. I don’t mind contributing directly to the campaigns of the candidates who haven’t betrayed my conservative values.

Truth is LHI, my expendable income goes to Soldiers’ Angels, Adopt-a-Platoon, VFW International, USO, RNC, TexasGOP, and Senator John Cornyn’s re-election, as well as, several local charities who provide programs to the youth in my community.
