Has it come to this, my friends? Have we, as a culture, devolved so far that The Price Is Right is too complex for the average American to master?
I can’t decide what’s funnier, the contestant or the “Talk Soup” host doing his poor man’s Jon Stewart shtick.

you beat me to the punch!

The Price is Right. Wow, that brings back memories. I haven’t watched TV in so many years I forgot all about that show’s existence.
RushBaby on June 6, 2008 at 3:39 PM
Oh, that is so embarrassing! I actually feel sorry for her-well, just a little. She is definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed.
StephC on June 6, 2008 at 3:40 PM
Liberal approach to game shows = everyone’s a winner!
HotJavaJack on June 6, 2008 at 3:40 PM
Talk Soup is a great way to catch up on this kind of stupidity across TV in only 30 minutes or so.
Wineaholic on June 6, 2008 at 3:41 PM
The Soup is awesome. I love that show. This is a few weeks old though.
lorien1973 on June 6, 2008 at 3:45 PM
Sharpton and Jackson are waiting for the call…..
RobCon on June 6, 2008 at 3:45 PM
I thought Bob had passed on…. guy he turned into a chubby guy.
Since you and I are DVD fans.. rent Tougher in Alaska… I think you will like it. Not sure when it comes out though.
upinak on June 6, 2008 at 3:46 PM
I feel genuinely bad for that lady. It’s gotta be hard to be embaressed like that on natl. tv.

LOL! Great Friday Laugh, Allahpundit!
maverick muse on June 6, 2008 at 3:47 PM
McHale is usually much funnier than that. This seemed forced.

Evolution takes a detour.
fogw on June 6, 2008 at 3:51 PM
i feel bad for her being stupid. can we pass a law that allows people who are stupid, and do not try to work, can somehow win or get money for nothing. hope

Hillary?
Sefton on June 6, 2008 at 3:57 PM
If it was Miss SC I wouldn’t have a problem with it, curious.
Family Guy had a great clip on that, or the correct strategy.
sunny on June 6, 2008 at 3:57 PM
You can get the smartest person in front of the camera, and they will do the dumbest things.
A classic clip from “Family Feud” — September. The only time that Richard Dawson ever lost it completely on the show and could not recover.

+1

Addition, subtraction…no biggie.
benrand on June 6, 2008 at 4:25 PM
I was thinking through all this, what if she has a husband?…. talk about the poor guy never being right because of her histrionics….lol
MNDavenotPC on June 6, 2008 at 4:28 PM
I was thinking more like Hillary.
Her sense of entitlement in the face of obvious defeat……classic Cankles.
The Ugly American on June 6, 2008 at 4:28 PM
That Family Feud clip was hilarious!

Suspicions Confirmed …about the effect of daytime TV on the brain…
landlines on June 6, 2008 at 4:38 PM
Memories: I remember racing home from school to catch the last minutes of the show where Dianne Parkinson would always be in a bathing suit for some prize.
Didn’t matter what the prize was. A washing maching, a truck, garbage disposal, hell, she’d be in that damned bathing suit.
Thankfully this was before VCRs. I’m not sure what would have happened to me if those were around….
SteveMG on June 6, 2008 at 4:40 PM
As a consulation price, Obama is making her his VP running mate!

Isn’t this like…a month old?

I agree with both of you. I don’t watch any reality shows and not that much TV in general, so The Soup is a great way to see 30 minutes of the stupidity that goes on 24/7.
I must admit I’ve recently watched a couple of the Price is Right Million Dollar Spectacular in prime time (can’t remember what day or exact time.) My husband and I said we “felt like our parents” watching that cheesy stuff!
Brat on June 6, 2008 at 4:46 PM
I expect a lawsuit against her school district for failing to do its job, and another against Drew Carey for being a racist.

And there’s Jaywalking, but I actually find that painful to watch. OH MY GOD THESE PEOPLE ARE COLLEGE GRADS (a lot of the time).

FYI, one of my coworkers is going to be on the two-hour Deal/No-Deal on June 11. I have no idea how it goes (he can’t tell us), but the fact that he has an agent makes me think it went well.

Oh man, how you gonna dog Joel like that? He’s funny as hell in his own right… don’t denigrate him to comparing him to that scumbag Stewart.
RightWinged on June 6, 2008 at 6:01 PM
The Soup is awesome. Waaay better than TDS.
BadgerHawk on June 6, 2008 at 6:12 PM
Oh my. Sympathy and Ridicule are vying for control of my brain.
Whoops — Ridicule just won, because Sympathy was too dumb to bid correctly.
Gawd.
Splashman on June 6, 2008 at 6:26 PM
I blame the white male host.
leftnomore on June 6, 2008 at 6:33 PM
I Love The Soup, but it does prove this world has really gone to hell in a handbasket!

Probably thought she was Entitled to win.

Chapter 13?
TheSitRep on June 6, 2008 at 6:52 PM
I bet she could tell you that those racist who wrote the constitution only valued her as 3/5ths of a white person. That’s the only math they seem to teach in inner city schools.
Spartacus on June 6, 2008 at 7:43 PM
The Soup is funny in it’s ridicule. If you watch the Richard Dawson clip closely he says to the lady, “How the hell did you people get on this show?”.
Jeff on June 6, 2008 at 8:20 PM
Obama’s base strikes again. She DID figure the price out finally so maybe she’ll figure out B. Hussein Obama by November.
…He’s not the Obama I thought I knew!
Mojave Mark on June 6, 2008 at 8:34 PM
The host is Joel McHale and is from Seattle. He used to be part of the cast of a local comedy show called “Almost Live.” AL was a 1/2 hour skit comedy show that ran before SNL in Seattle. Joel wrote and acted in some funny stuff. Too bad this is all the work he can get now. Here is a sample from Almost Live.
Mallard T. Drake on June 6, 2008 at 9:36 PM
I haven’t watched Talk Soup since they mocked how “stupid” The View’s Hasselback was for making a good point that was way over their heads.
jgapinoy on June 6, 2008 at 11:21 PM
Just another case of Whitey keeping the Black person down..
DaveC on June 7, 2008 at 12:24 AM
This is the perfect storm of an educational nightmare!
It’s called MATH,or when your all excited, like all of
us have been there, done that, your emotions are running
a tad fast for your brain to catch up!
Like checking your lottery ticket against the winning
numbers print-out,and for that micro-second,you switched
tickets,and you thought you won,anyhow!

I didn’t know Whitney Houston had finally put down the pipe and picked up a sandwich.
moxie_neanderthal on June 7, 2008 at 9:06 AM
Thanks for the link. I had some pretty good laughs.
VikingGoneWild on June 7, 2008 at 11:09 AM
Ok, that was HILARIOUS! I was watching it one day and it was so obvious people way underbid and the last person makes some wierd number way below the others. I’m like..wow you don’t even have a concept that you could have won by bidding one over the highest? I am not sure I’ve seen that stupidity in the past lol! Kim, hope you are enjoying your 15 mins of dope fame lol!
diaphanous on June 8, 2008 at 4:32 AM
Medical Marijuana baybee.
Its like the ones who bid $1. Has the prize ever been worth $10 or some ungodly low number? no. Why not just bid $100 then?
eh, I hope she enjoys her Turtle Wax.
