Video: McCain on Obama’s Jerusalem flip-flop

Funny, although perhaps a bit unfair. Even James Taranto is willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt on what he said at AIPAC, i.e. that Jerusalem should remain “undivided” in the sense that no parts of it should be walled off, not that no parts of it should conceivably be under Palestinian rule if that’s what the two sides agree to. We’ll know for sure what he meant once we see reaction among the pro-Israeli slice of the electorate. If they’re iffy, count on the post-partisan, highly principled Lamb of God revising his comments further with a stirring defense of Jerusalem as an Israeli city, now and forever.

Alas all those commenters from the not so recent past worried about McCain being able to take the gloves off…

Factual, accurate, and on an issue. Nice shot!

Hog Wild on June 6, 2008 at 8:55 PM

obama is a liar, that’s it. he was just pandering to AIPAC and the sad thing is many of the young people their actually believe him. I for one wasn’t fooled, maybe I’m being cynical at my young age, but hey, what can you do.

Lance Murdock on June 6, 2008 at 8:56 PM

I say yes, we move our embassy to Jerusalem–open up a few offices inside the Dome of the Rock. We’ll be safe from Islamofascist bombs in there.

Hey, I bet I know who Olbermann’s next WORST PERSON IN THE WOOOOOORLLLD will be. LOL I hope poor Senator McCain can stand the disapproval.

funky chicken on June 6, 2008 at 9:03 PM

“Undivided” means “undivided” everyone knows what it means. That’s why the audience went nuts when he said it.

Obama is saying what needs to be said to those he needs to say it to. It’s just like Bill Clinton. And the press lets him get away with it, just like they did with Bill Clinton.

Thank God for the Internet.

FLIP-FLOPPING OBAMA…

Shades of 2004 and “Hanoi John Kerry.”

There’s an outside chance that the guy had no clue why they went nuts, and had no clue what the hell he was talking about at all.

There’s also an outside chance that he believes his press and thinks that that whole New Jerusalem deal may just happen.

Neither scenario makes me feel any better about him, of course.

Works for me.

And yes, I AGREE, indythinker!!! EVERYTHING Obama – oops, sorry HUSSEIN – says is “full of lies”! And did you know his last name is ONE LETTER away from OSAMA, which means there’s a connection betweeen him and OSAMA BIN LADEN? Do I even have to bring up the Hussein thing – Saddam Hussein, Barack HUSSEIN Obama – HELLO! So Obviously a connection!

Dave Rywall on June 6, 2008 at 10:06 PM

McCain is a solid, tough performer and is well versed in all of the subject requirements of a potential president of the United States.

He would demolish Obama in a one-to-one town hall debate because without his crib sheets Obama is a lost soul.

It’s the Obamessiah’s Orwellian Newspeak: “unconditional” means “conditional”; “not a serious threat” means a “grave” threat; and “undivided” means “divided.”

“‘When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less.’”

Get it?

Thomas Sowell’s column is good:

At a time like this, we do not have the luxury of waiting for our ideal candidate or of indulging our emotions by voting for some third party candidate to show our displeasure– at the cost of putting someone in the White House who is not up to the job.

Senator John McCain has been criticized in this column many times. But, when all is said and done, Senator McCain has not spent decades aiding and abetting people who hate America.

On the contrary, he has paid a huge price for resisting our enemies, even when they held him prisoner and tortured him. The choice between him and Barack Obama should be a no-brainer.

Sorry, but McCain didn’t flip on wiretaps. Source: New York Times

I’m not afraid of Barack’s middle name. I am concerned about a candidate who has his henchmen charge “Racism!” every time someone happens to mention it. I am concerned about a candidate who idly jokes about giving Congress a “Whoopin” if Congress were to fail to pass certain legislation. I am concerned about a candidate who denies Al Qaeda was in Iraq when they killed our troops. I am concerned about a candidate who says Iran wasn’t in Iraq when their equipment has been killing our troops, the chief of intelligence says they are trying to kill our troops, and we captured a senior Hezbollah figure in Iraq training terrorists.

That and Obama lies all the time. He concerns me.

indythinker on June 6, 2008 at 10:50 PM

Barry doesn’t pay attention to what he says because he knows the media won’t either.

He’s just warming up his rhetorical excesses.

He’ll soon be hotski to Trotski.

All McCain needs to do is look justifiably amazed at the forked streams of b.s. issuing from the Messiah’s maw.

profitsbeard on June 6, 2008 at 10:58 PM

The GOP can fill up a full 60 second commercial just on the Obama lies alone. Of coarse, lying to a Democrat simply means their lips are moving; it comes as naturally as walking. I’d like to see some brave reporter ask Obama what lie he would like to use on this little fact:

Who’s to Blame for High Gas Prices?

For several decades, the Democratic Party has pursued policies designed to drive up the cost of petroleum, and therefore gas at the pump. Remarkably, the Democrats don’t seem to have taken much of a political hit from the current spike in gas prices. Probably that’s because most people don’t realize how different the two parties’ energy policies have been.

Congressman Roy Blunt put together these data to highlight the differences between House Republicans and House Democrats on energy policy:

ANWR Exploration House Republicans: 91% Supported House Democrats: 86% Opposed

Coal-to-Liquid
House Republicans: 97% Supported
House Democrats: 78% Opposed

Oil Shale Exploration
House Republicans: 90% Supported
House Democrats: 86% Opposed

Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Exploration
House Republicans: 81% Supported
House Democrats: 83% Opposed

Refinery Increased Capacity
House Republicans: 97% Supported
House Democrats: 96% Opposed

SUMMARY

91% of House Republicans have historically voted to increase the production of American-made oil and gas.

86% of House Democrats have historically voted against increasing the production of American-made oil and gas.

PAUL adds: It’s useful to keep this sort of thing in mind when we hear (on something like a daily basis these days) that the Republicans have run out of ideas or that Republican ideas didn’t work. The truth is that most major Republican ideas weren’t tried because the Democrats blocked them. Increasing the domestic production of oil and gas (a move so obvious it barely meets the standard for being an idea) is hardly the only example. Social security reform and school choice also come quickly to mind. Republican-backed policies for increasing the number of Americans with health insurance were also blocked by Democrats. And so forth. (powerline)

When Democrat members of my family ask me why I vote Republican, this is the type of hard facts that drives them all to lying (denial of the truth) in a heartbeat.

Allah — there’s nothing “unfair” about the assessment of Obama’s remarks. Note the timing, i.e. the “negotiation” piece comes to the fore once the Palestinians start squawking… I don’t care if he’s talking about religious sites, neigborhoods or the parking lot at Wal-Mart — he modified his remarks to appease Palestinian protests, plain and simple.

The fact that he has Wexler (or as I like to call him, Whiner) out there shilling for him doesn’t lend any credibility… I’m surprised old media whore Bob hasn’t donned his yarmulke just to make his points in defense of BHO.

Off the mark completely… again. There is a long and distinguished history on HA of calling those of our own party on issues. McCain is hardly the favorite here. But given the two choices we choose to believe our own eye’s and ears.

Want to compare flip flops? OK, I’ll play. Talking to extremists dictators or not? Can’t throw Wright under the bus, then does. Can’t leave the black church, then does. Wife is busy campaigning, then suddenly isn’t. Ayer’s is a supporter, then just an aqquaintance. Rezko was just a fundraiser, now a criminal. Isreal has the right to defend it’s self and can expect U.S. support, now who know’s? Free trade is bad, or is it? McCain denounces negative adds and Obama is silent. McCain denounces those who trash his opponents immediately, McCain has been unfairly trashed and nothing from Obama. McCain has a history of reaching across the Senate aisle to make things happen much to the chagrin of his party and supporters, Obama has done nothing in the Senate, get that? NOTHING. Head of a committee that has done NOTHING.

One last comparision if you will indulge me.

McCain supported a surge that is succeeding.

Obama uses a story of a U.S. military unit in Afghanistan using captured weapons because of a problem with spare parts, uses that story to slam President Bush. But what did the distinguished Senator do with that information other than use it to gain political points? While in a position to make things happen for U.S. service members on the ground and get them the parts they needed, Obama did nothing to help them. He left them hanging and used them as a political tool.

Sorry Dave, people around here tend to be informed and think for themselves. America will vote for the one they think is less crooked, as they tend to do. McCain has been in public office for over 20 years, and your guy is dragging a lot more baggage than McCain is.

False messiahs are a dime a dozen.
Usually they are merely self deluded individuals.
That HObama’s puppeteer happens to be the wealthiest and most powerful Machine in the world is what folks should target. Otherwise, it’s forever playing catch-up with the ever changing line of the day. So if we laugh at Pinocchio HObama entangled in his web of deceit, we nod knowingly at his puppeteer that we saw through that one, too.

Whoever has yet to see through a false messiah is one to guard against as they would abscond with your treasure at a drop of his hat. I’ve seen false messiahs come and go with their ever changing feigned revelations. McCain’s seen false messiahs come and go around the world. McCain also knows the most powerful Machine in the world, having dabbled with it himself TO OUR CHAGRIN. Once again, however, experience is worth gold when facing a war, whether a war of words or arms.

A billboard titled CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN needs to list Obama’s policy shifting statements before they disappear into his Machine’s magic sinkhole.

The truth is he has no idea who, what, or where Jerusalem is. So he just mumbled some horseshit about it and his mumbling happened contradict some earlier mumbling.

Don’t mess with McCain, he knows we are in a war with Islamofascists and he wants us to win it and will do what he can as President to make sure that we do.

Barry O bin Laden may or may not know about the above war and if he does he’ll want us to loose it as it, and all the evils in this world, are caused either directly on nearly directly by our lifestyle, capitalism, government policies, lack of government policies, no universal healthcare, racism, slavery, oppression, homophobia, sexism or some combination of the above. Either way we deserve to loose. Either that or he’s just a blooming idiot.

When the rest of the world wants “X” to be President, we had better choose “Y”.
