The last HamNation: Obama on Your Shoulder

posted at 2:00 pm on June 6, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

I know that the Washington Examiner knows the value they acquired when they hired Mary Katherine Ham, but man, are we going to miss her talent in the blogosphere. Her final HamNation video absolutely skewers Barack Obama — perhaps more his supporters than Obama himself — in a hilarious and oddly wistful valediction. Don’t tell me you don’t feel a twinge of regret as the song concludes. Click on the image to play:

Make sure to read the credits at the end, as MKH gives our own Allahpundit a nice salute.

Gonna miss HamNation. MKH it is not too late to turn back!

Allahpundit……Father of two countries (HA and HN)!

Hah, I love it!

HotJavaJack on June 6, 2008 at 2:07 PM

MKat is awesome. Will definitely miss HamNation, but we lost Vent, we’ll survive this too. But sure hate to lose her expressive and great sense of humor. Wish her all the best.

For the record though, Obama on your shoulder would have started smoking the cigarette he keeps you from.

Spirit of 1776 on June 6, 2008 at 2:09 PM

Good luck with your new job, Hammer! Come back and visit sometime!

Great video.

The Examiner is on a roll for grabbing a lot of great talent: Big Stretch from the Washington Times, MKH from Townhall/Salem…

Who’s next?

Robert Morton from http://www.worldtribune.com?
Allahpundit from HA?
David Lee Roth from Van Halen?

ScottMcC on June 6, 2008 at 2:19 PM

Take care… make sure to come back now, ya hear!

Michelle! Please bring back the Vents!

Sad that she’s leaving Townhall, but excited she’s coming to my place of business.

warrenmr on June 6, 2008 at 2:21 PM

MKH can still do humorous videos and post on YouTube, can’t she?

CAN’T SHE!!?!!

(Sorry, I’m already going through withdrawal symptoms.)

omnipotent on June 6, 2008 at 2:22 PM

I love Ham because she always seems to get it. Just cuts right through to the heart of things.

That video’s a perfect example too. It’s why Barry’s not going to be President too. He’s just too ripe for ridicule to go all the way to November, and there’s no substance for him to fall back on as the curtain falls away.

What I won’t miss is Townhall’s video player. It takes “choppy” to a whole new level.

Typhoon on June 6, 2008 at 2:22 PM

That was cute, especially the sqeaky voice popping up Obama,
and MKH is on the move, and beautiful and radiant as always!

And,it must be a women thing, just like my wife, red coloured
painted toenails,a hum, anyhow MKH,you go girl, and as in the band Trooper, Raise a little Republican Hell!

Congratulations MKH,the U.S.S.Hot Air will miss you. :)

Godspeed.

Hope to see more of you soon!

Ok, quit whining. Tell you what, when I’m out on my date with Mary Katherine tonight I will ask her to reconsider.

Yes I’m LYING! So what? A guy can dream, right?

MKH was Townhall to me.

Her last story in Townhall magazine was cool about Israel.

MKH is also a conservative beauty :-).

Classic Hammer and perhaps the best to date! Going from a Porsche to a Schwinn was right on.

I predict the Hammer will do a “Hussein on my shoulder” series for the RNC. Ideal for public consumption in October.

Congratulations. You’ve got serious talent and I’m glad O’Reilly has “promoted” you. He needs to liven that show up and appeal to younger viewers, because Olbie is kicking his rear-end in the 25-54 demographic that’s so important to advertisers. And you do that!

Outlander on June 6, 2008 at 4:14 PM

I think MKH has the makings of a great journalist, but I never understood why she kept showing up on O’Reilly as an “Internet Expert.” Uhhh??

Compared to Bill O, she is an Internet Expert. So are you. So am I. So is every single commenter here.

Not to take anything away from MKH- I don’t always agree with her, but do enjoy her work and am genuinely happy for her in her well deserved success. That she still shows up here amongst the “little people” speaks well of her.

While it’s not out of the realm of possibility, I’m not likely to start any video endeavors soon. I’m the managing editor of the “dead tree version of Townhall,” as someone called it on this string, and that’s keeps me pretty busy.
