Geraldo: Obama without Hillary will produce another McGovern debacle

posted at 12:20 pm on June 6, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

Granted, the source has as much political sense as Howard Dean, but this does show the pressure being applied to Barack Obama. It’s a short clip, and perhaps Geraldo Expectorado explains how the addition of Hillary Clinton’s broad negatives prevents a McGovern-like collapse, but it’s certainly not clear at all how that happens. Does the Tuzla Dash and the Selma Miracle somehow cancel each other out?

Hillary may not want to hitch her star to Obama’s wagon anyway. Obama would fare better by looking for someone with executive experience and much lower negatives, and announcing the decision no sooner than the convention to keep the GOP from defining his choice. Kathleen Sibelius or Janet Napolitano would make much better choices and broaden his appeal than Hillary.

Yeowchhhhhhhhhh! (pulling the broken teeth out of my split lips).

I’m still betting on it. It doesn’t have to make sense. I just don’t believe the Dem party can see past their nose and Barry will tap her on the shoulder.

Does Gerry still want to hug Bill Clinton? Maybe swap a little spit?

Akzed on June 6, 2008 at 12:28 PM

Obama will get smoked in November. He is a modern day Black Panther, and most people see right through him.

saiga on June 6, 2008 at 12:33 PM

Why is the spitter still on FOX news.

joeswampy on June 6, 2008 at 12:35 PM

Geraldo, like Danny Boy, like the DNC, is irrelevant.

His appearances are filler for slow news days.

Ed, the problem with this logic is that you are trying to apply right thinking sense to the Democratic party. If they had sense would Obama be their nominee? No, the only reason that Clinton most likely will not be his running mate is because of the animosity between the two. At the national level the Dems do nothing that ever resembles sense and the same will apply to Obama’s VP choice.

I think that Geraldo’s mustache is really an alien life form that controls everything he says.

cannonball on June 6, 2008 at 12:40 PM

When exactly is Geraldo going to accept his true calling and take his Rant-O-Ramafest over to Air(head) America instead?

pilamaye on June 6, 2008 at 12:45 PM

I suspect Barack was shown the testicle lockbox at the Hillary-Barack tête-à-tête.

I wonder if she just opened a Prada bag and had Barack look inside or if for effect she set it down on the table in front of him.

Either way, I smell a no work consulting job for Bill and associates.

When the spitter comes on, the mute is on. He makes me ill.

In other words, pick a woman?

Darksean on June 6, 2008 at 1:03 PM

Could someone tell me whether Geraldo also joked this morning about his appearance on the last episode of Seinfeld episode in the context of disucussing the Hartford hit and run video? You know, in the same breath as lamenting (rightfully) the inhumanity of it all. I had a screaming 14 month old but I thought I heard this.

BillLalor on June 6, 2008 at 1:08 PM

Is there really a person behind that clump of hair above his lip?

I mean, I keep thinking of that character in Men in Black where there was a little guy in his head controlling his mouth to speak stupid.

Geraldo Expectorado

Crying Cuckoo Geraldo saliva live-oh.

mymanpotsandpans on June 6, 2008 at 1:34 PM

This guy is a rash in a dark area….I have returned comments to Fox many time that Many of us cannot watch or listen to this phoney, un-American, loon….When the military kicked his ass out of Iraq, I was hopeful that Fox would get a clue…They haven’t…Brit Hume is now the only good reason to stay tuned, and he never has the Puerto Rican pie-hole on his show….And O’Rielly consciously chose to favor this ignorant, spittin’ race baiter over Michelle….Not smart, Bill, in spite of your intelligence…Anyway, back on subject…Geraldo has the TV personality of one who invites a swift kick in the “huevos” by simply offering a “Good Morning”

b4lucy on June 6, 2008 at 1:36 PM

Gretchen told Jerry he was getting “all sweaty” over it. I laughed my ass off. What a putz he is.

roninacreage on June 6, 2008 at 1:39 PM

Only a loser like Geraldo could make the Fox News Channel suck.

volsense on June 6, 2008 at 1:39 PM

Geraldo’s advice and five bucks might buy a latte.

Steve Z on June 6, 2008 at 1:48 PM

Kathleen Sibelius or Janet Napolitano would make much better choices and broaden his appeal than Hillary.

Oh, so adding a gay running mate (Ms. Napolitano..take my word for it America) would be a perfect compliment to an African American candidate? Sure, why not. Maybe the Cubs will win the Series this year, too.

When last heard from, Geraldo Rivera was outside Britney Spear’s house breathlessly reporting on Britney’s release from the can. Geraldo modestly told his audience that when he was Britney’s age, he had the same level of fame but he had not had his children yet so the burden of celebrity was not as difficult for him to manage. Geraldo is such an egomaniac that he actually thinks that the heavens rotate around him. Then and now, nobody but Geraldo cared about Geraldo. This guy is so narcisistic that he thought there were people actually interested in his alleged affair with Jacob Javits wife. Maybe next Geraldo will write a tell all book claiming he had an affair with Estelle Getty.

Larraby on June 6, 2008 at 2:00 PM

And Fox News without Geraldo and Greta would be a much more professional organization! Trashy Tabloid fauxporters shouldn’t be handing out opinions.

Good Lord I hate to agree with Hiraldo (sp+), but he’s right.

Who cares? We are going to get a democrat president one way or the other. Either we get a professed democrat for president, or we get a democrat registered to the republican party, that hates his republican brethren, and would rather vote with the democrats anyway.
Six of one, half dozen of the other, yawn……

paulsur on June 6, 2008 at 3:15 PM

Janet Napolitano would roil the Arizona home base, so that’s a strong possibility.

We Kansans would appreciate it if Obama took Sibelius the Eco-Fascist off our hands: it would save us the trouble of impeaching her!

landlines on June 6, 2008 at 4:55 PM

Un-American, Puerto Rican pie hole? His ethnicity has what to do with what?

Geraldo sucks, but all this yammering about not ever watching Fox News Channel is absurd.

You Sir, are an obvious asset to your herd.

The Race Card on June 6, 2008 at 5:26 PM

Obama’s biggest weakness is among white men. This is deliberate and a result of the long-standing Dem strategy (the “So Long White Boy” article in the Atlantic).

His best bet is to pick a guy as redneck as possible. However that would tick off his Black base so that’s pretty tough to do, in addition the Dem Party is mostly Kerry-like long-time elitist hacks. There is no Redneck in Chief in the Dem party save Clinton (Bill).

Obama won’t win white women anyway, a sop on the VP ticket won’t work. He’ll probably pick Biden: “safe” and a non-entity.

whiskey_199 on June 6, 2008 at 6:12 PM

Geraldo should be in prison for discussing troop moments in Iraq in ’03. Instead, he’s puking his half-witted opinion all over the Fox stage and they are broadcasting it for all to consume.

Claypigeon on June 6, 2008 at 6:12 PM

Need a little ‘splainin’ eh Race card?? Well anyone giving away troop info on major TV is pretty much un-American….And anyone so invested in total open borders for Hispanic invaders, with no regard to the downside consequences such as infectious TB, rampant crime, Hispanic gangs such as MS13, flooding of all social services to the extent that hospitals are forced to close, driving atrocities,…etc…is not only un-American but also a race pimp, pimping those he openly associates as “his people”…And becoming so enraged at his own flawed debating skills with O’Rielly that he offers to spit on Michelle, who also brilliantly opposes his La Raza pimping… to me that behavior is blatantly un-American and racist to the extreme, as evidenced by his bulging Puerto Rican Purple veins…What? La Raza? Really….you never heard….uh…well they’re the group that wants to split California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Texas, and parts of other States away from the U.S. and form another country…That’s kind of un-American, dontcha think….and maybe racist….and who said anything about never watching Fox….as to your sensitivities, you need to toughen up there, Cowboy….uh…what….you’re not a Cowboy….Oh! With your reference to a “herd” I probably read too much into that…You are not from Frisco, are ya? Cause La Raza has had some special position in mind for….jeez…uh….I dunno…probably a rumor…

b4lucy on June 6, 2008 at 9:08 PM

Nonsense. Any and all “this-is-another-that” scenarios are the result of breezy, faulted analysis. Obama is not McGovern, McCaine is not Nixon, and this is not 1972. It suffers woefully from the fallacy of the false analogy.

bour3 on June 6, 2008 at 10:52 PM

Why is the spitter still on FOX news.

To keep it “fair and balanced”…

Would you rather see the mustachioed moonbat, or Olberdouche as the resident naysayer?

yeah, I thought so..

UncleOlaf on June 7, 2008 at 8:30 AM

More evidence that “a stopped clock is right twice a day.”

(And just like a stopped clock, Hiraldo’s infrequent encounters with correct conclusions have nothing to do with his reasoning or logical abilities.)

landlines on June 7, 2008 at 9:51 AM

I can’t stomach geraldo and I can’t understand why fox would want to sully their name with this hokey guy. He and al sharpton’s attendance on bill o’reilly is why I just am tired of O’reilly and don’T watch him hardly any more. After the whole spit on Malkin comment that geraldo “kiss and tell” made, I just lost it for O’reilly for not disowning him for such an insulting (not even the word to cover it imo) comment.

Malkin, one day I sure hope you have your own show. You are one sharp cookie and I love to listen to your opinions.
