Video: Daring idiot inspires second, even more daring idiot

posted at 9:10 pm on June 5, 2008 by Allahpundit

More daring because the first guy’s a, er, pro and the copycat isn’t. Although he does appear to be at least semi-pro: “Sources who claimed to be friends of the second climber told NY1 that he is a 32-year-old resident of Sunset Park, Brooklyn, who has made similar climbs before.”

Here’s a photo of him moments after he struck a blow for malaria awareness by almost killing himself for the entertainment of crowds below. As for the first guy, anyone want to guess what his cause was? What else could it be? Click the image to watch.

How do we know that the Grey Lady didn’t hire these guys to climb the building?

My collie says:

It just may be the only way left to make the NY Times newsworthy.

CyberCipher on June 5, 2008 at 9:17 PM

The second guy is Jayson Blair…come back to the Times for some more “plagiarism” by copying the first guy…

I did not watch it because ….well I just didn’t. But global warming, caused by man, is still a hoax..right?

kahall on June 5, 2008 at 10:21 PM

Global warming kills more people than 9/11 every week.

?

What the heck is THAT all about?

Not for nothing, but aroun 20 to 30 stories up, his calves and fore-arms musta been burnin. Props to the dood for gettin it done.

I did a 500 foot sheer face cliff climb on a 12 rated mountain in Nevada, I was junk afterwards, and I trained for a few weeks before I did it. This fruit loop appears to have just jumped up in his street clothes on his way back from wolfing down some White Castle burgers.

What the heck is THAT all about?

My guess is the death toll of hurricanes and other events attributable to global warming.

freevillage on June 5, 2008 at 11:12 PM

The first guy is trying to help Michelle’s kids.

Not sure how I missed this today, I can see the Times building outside my work window. I would have been hoping he was finding a way to rip the side right off.

Rbastid on June 6, 2008 at 12:51 AM

What is your basis for calling him an idiot, Allah? The risk involved in doing what he loves? Maybe he should start a boring blog, since that would entail less risk.

Jungliszt on June 6, 2008 at 1:33 AM

Global warming Abortion kills more people than 9/11 every week day.

Fixed that for ya lefty tool guy. Who wants to bet “save the planet” doesn’t extend to our smallest and most innocent members.

Liberals are always tackling fake atrocities while aiding and abetting real ones.

Watermelon awareness week.

And/or “pissing on the real dead for the sake of the fictional dead.”

I-DI-OT.

How much would you like to wager that the NYT gets the story wrong?

saved on June 6, 2008 at 5:25 AM

It’s worth noting that the second guys cause was bringing attention to malaria which is a disease getting worse because environmentalists have forbidden the use of the chemical (I think it’s DDT) that kills mosquitoes in African nations. So the second guys climb could have been an anti-environmentalist rebuttal to the first climb which was for global warming. Or just an unintended irony.

So now you can go to NYC, and mock September 11, and there is no outrage.

Just make sure you don’t draw any cartoons with a guy with a bomb in his turban!

Why are you commenting on and reading a boring blog? Shouldn’t you be off doing daring stunts?
