dmann on June 6, 2008 at 12:14 AM

“Jugheads can be flyboys… be they squiddies at best but then there’s the zoomies… who never rest!”

Hey what did I say…! I luv yah both…!

From 62 till 64… we only had “Company propeller heads” that used to shoot “hot lead” 3 to 5 hours after we “ditty-dumb-dumb dittyed” them from Saigon, [Ho Chi Minh City].

Holy Jesus, Mary and Joseph we cudda’ been overrun three times by half a regiment of NVA before those Company contract pilots dumped 30 caliber empty shell casings on our heads outta Saigon!

The thing that really impressed me the most as a professional soldier was our means of battlefield communications!

Have yah ever heard of a goddamn “fire arrow”?

Back in 1962 at Boun Deit, Pleikue Province, VN, we didn’t have any air-to-ground radio commo with our air assets out of Saigon!

Field expedience was the “mother-of invention”…!

Hell, well, shit…! We used “fire arrows”…!

They were constructed of bamboo stems about 4 inches thick and about 20 feet long. We suspended #10 tin cans filled with sand and/or a mixture of diesel fuel or oil and gasoline between the bamboo trunks.

When we heard the T26/28 “hell raising propeller heads” approaching from the “south” [Saigon] we’d match [light] the “oil pots” in the “fire arrow” and rotate the “fire arrow” toward the direction of the most direct fire being directed on the village or camp.

Those MFKER’s passed overhead multiple times dumping every last round of lead in their “biddies” not knowing were ere their rounds struck or whether they struck friend or foe!

We luved the firepower show! “Charlie” thought it was very impressive, the attack of the NVA was usually suppressed.

We all went peaceably to sleep for another night in Buon Beng/Phu Tuc in Phu Bon Province in Buon Diet village.

Gosh I luv it…when that happens like that…!

We used to “clink” Bah moi Bahs with those “Company peelots” at Mama’ Cappricio’s in Saigon, just off Tudo Street, given the chance for 72 hours out of combat… on a food/mercy fuck run, for the teamhouse!

The original book and movie had Meechum (Duval) in the F4, some updated depictions show an F14 on the cover which is artistic license. Jugheads can be flyboys be they squiddies at best but then there’s the zoomies who never rest! A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.....

Ha, the CHA Media, like Che Guevara. The stories I could tell you about the latter...and how I know them...

May your nostrils prevail profitsbeard. Independent of anything political, you are a jewel of wit and learning. Thanks for being here.

Especially in "Any Which Way But Loose" I didn't like any of those orange ape flicks....maybe because of the damage Planet of the Apes series did to my young impressionable mind!

Your best argument is a link to an old Bill Maher rant about "think tanks" -- not even really the think tank that Bolton was involved in? That's what came immediately to mind? You must have that link bookmarked and "favorited" on YouTube -- the out-of-date geopolitical analysis by the star of Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death and Ratboy. Hey, got any links to what Russ Meyer or Roger Corman think about "think tanks"? That might help with the "credibility" of your argument. I know you're all about the "credibility."

The problem with Obama's naivete is that it will allow the Mullahs time to build an atom bomb, and the Iranians have given every signal that they plan on using it, either by action to perpetrate a second Holocaust upon the Jews, or by threat to intimidate the West. It's a categorically different type of danger/naivete. We've lost 4000 soldiers in five years. As awful as it is, that actually ain't bad, historically speaking. Compare to the 1,000,000 casualties in the 8 month battle of Verdun. The dangers of atomic warfare are vastly greater. This type of danger is what Bolton is talking about. Not 4000 dead in five years, but rather 80,000 dead in four minutes.

Heh...only if Johnny gained a couple of metric tons and needed Medicare provided diabetes supplies! If my memory serves me at all (doubtful after several libations) Wilford portrayed some nasty varmints in his day but I don't recall him being the good guy and surviving for too long!
