This has now happened so often it’s become a cliché.

The Islamists lay out their rationale in detail, using small words and simply structured sentences. Immediately the Left pops up to say that simply can’t possibly be so, the only possible reason has to be Standing Up to Aggression and Persecution, not to mention Boooooooooosh.

It has to be part of the reason they’re so nasty. Nobody could maintain a cheerful demeanor while being accused of lying at every turn.

Great point.

Bush chose to take the fight to them, unlike his predecessor. AQ reacted to our troops on the ground like a mosquito does to a bug-zapper. They came in droves and found a one way ticket to Allah.

Didn’t Al Qaeda get the message? The bombing was due to George W. Bush, not terrorists (because Bush is worse than they are). That might make the Left mad at AQ. Why President Obamassiah might even postpone his unconditional meeting with them for a day or two.

Check out Lawrence Wright’s suggestion that there are emerging splits within the Islamic world in general and terror networks specifically as it pertains to the use of terrorism as a means of achieving political ends.
