But can he walk on water?
According to the Hebrew Bible, Moses enlisted divine assistance to part the Red Sea and allow the Jews to pass through it. King Canute is known to legend as the monarch whose courtiers persuaded him he could command the seas to go back. He is also known as the king who could not stop the sea but stemmed the Viking tide. And now Barack Obama claims the possession of powers that leave them in the dust.
At the end of his victory speech last night in St. Paul, Obama declared that we would be able to look back on his election to the presidency as “the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.” Lest you think this seems a bit presumptuous, he also noted that he makes this claim “with profound humility, and knowledge of my own limitations.” (powerline)
No wonder Lucas thinks so highly of Obama!
Keemo on June 5, 2008 at 7:56 AM
McCain is a real hero, a legend. Why would these Hollywood fat cats back a real hero when they have the fantasy to make Obama into whatever they wish to project on him?
How about those heroes fighting against Islam, an enemy that would destroy us, and the movie industry? No mention for those real heroes, George?

How about you? – Rock
I was A.F. (munitions) I joined (in ’88) ’cause I knew our next war was in the middle east and I wanted to tell my grandkids I was there just like my grandfather did for me. But I was at an ammo depot in England during Desert Storm and missed it (except for loading up all that ammo and sending to the Gulf).
Hey, Rock, somebody’s gotta drive those trucks and whatever you were carrying was part of the war effort, so you still get a ‘thank you’ :-)

Obama is about to be brought low
sabbott on June 5, 2008 at 8:39 AM
All this just makes me want to puke.
Dig this: since Lucas is such a fan of Joseph Campbell, he should have paid close, close attention to the chapter “The Belly of the Whale” in The Hero With a Thousand Faces. Put simply, that is when the hero has to spend time in a very, very dark and brutal place and emerges transformed.
Now, George, when did Obama have is time in the belly of the whale? McCain did.
Also, the hero is to receive a call to adventure (described in the book’s first chapter). The only call Obama received is his own.
Lucas reminds me of the liberals who like to quote (and always out of context. . .always) from Nineteen Eighty-Four. They cherrypick a few words and use them to form an affirmation of their shallow beliefs. “The government spies on us and controls the media.” No thought to how frightening speech codes and basic political correctness replaces clarity with fear and governs from it, just like the Thought Police.
Just my 0.002 cents.

Lucas is right. For every clueless empty suit that has dreams of succeeding, he is a hero.
Kowboy on June 5, 2008 at 9:07 AM
have you noticed how desperate the world is for savior? (and not the real one)
right4life on June 5, 2008 at 9:09 AM
Lucas’s words, and the fact of who their speaker is, actually quite instructive.
Lucas has a remarkably lame, shallow, adolescent imagination, and his “dreams” are the stuff of 14 year old boys for whom Star Wars passes as art.
Of COURSE Obama appeals to him.
Muswell Hillbilly on June 5, 2008 at 9:20 AM
Cheap effects and no meat to the story. They are both the same.
BL@KBIRD on June 5, 2008 at 9:21 AM
They asked Lucas who is childhood hero was…
That’s childhood hero.
Mr. I Can’t Make Good Movies Anymore was 18, an adult, when the empty suit was born.
ynot4tony2 on June 5, 2008 at 9:24 AM
He wrecked “Star Wars.” Now he’s wrecked “Indiana Jones.” And he wants to wreck the whole country. What an ass. Also, why should I care what a billionaire Marin County land developer and digital slave driver (you should see how they work people at ILM) has to say about left-wing politics. If he wants to pay more taxes, why doesn’t he pay more to Marin and volunteer just the take from his latest craptastic film toward the federal budget. I think I truly hate this man, and I regret helping finance his empire. BTW, the real credit for Indiana Jones should go to Lawrence Kasdan the writer of “Raiders,” Spielberg and Lucas couldn’t write their way out of a wet paper bag with a pickaxe.
fleiter on June 5, 2008 at 9:31 AM
Sadly, I think you’re right. Especially in Lucas’ case.
Like I said, there is far better SW out there than is sanctioned by Lucasarts.
Didn’t Kasdan also write Empire?
Darksean on June 5, 2008 at 9:34 AM
So many are desperate for a savior around the world because so many have surrendered their individual liberties to the state and they don’t know how to take care of themselves anymore. So they think they are doing right by voting for someone they think will best take care of them.
NotCoach on June 5, 2008 at 9:44 AM
I have dreams and hope, mine are that my girls will grow up in a world where they have all the opportunities I did, and they don’t have to live as second class citizens, wear a burka, have a clitorectomy or have to live in fear of their male counterparts. This is why I hope that Obama does not get to become POS. Or any dhimmicrat for that matter.
4shoes on June 5, 2008 at 9:56 AM
If Barack has so much talent, does anyone really believe Lucas would let Obama be the CEO of his company? If not, why the hell should we elect him to be the CEO of the free world?
moxie_neanderthal on June 5, 2008 at 10:03 AM
The real hero here is the person who has to shave that goiter for him. Here’s a tip, George…it doesn’t look so bad if you either let the beard fully cover it or you don’t highlight it with a beard at all.
James on June 5, 2008 at 10:11 AM
Whooops, POS=POTUS ! Freudian slip?!!
4shoes on June 5, 2008 at 10:19 AM
So another Hollywood George is a lefty. Knock me over with The Force. While I disagree with Lucas and Clooney,I do enjoy their art. I wouldn’t look to them for political advice. Any who do…well, gosh, I would feel sorry for those people.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s EcoloMan!
Mild-mannered Barack Obama changes into EcoloMan when the world is threatened. Powered by his own methane and carbon dioxide, EcoloMan lowers oceans by generating new polar ice and icebergs. EcoloMan lowers greenhouse gases by halting all economic development in China, India and the developing world. EcoloMan generates new job growth in America by expanding government. Furthermore, EcoloMan will bring peace to the Middle East and the world by retreating! EcoloMan! He even wants to heal the earth by poulticing our planet with the carbon of excess natal hominoid interlopers!
Vote EcoloMan on Election Day for – No justice, No peace! and “God damn America.”

There is a fascinating video that shows archeological evidence for the Red Sea crossing and all of the landmarks mentioned in the Bible on the way to and including Mt. Sinai. The Real Mt. Sinai is not in the Sinai penninsula. It is in the land of Midian (modern day Saudi Arabia). The Saudis restrict access to it with fences and armed guards.

Why do you think Obama picked St. Paul, Minnesota as the location to give this speech?
I don’t know, but I have the following observations:
1) St. Paul is a Biblical name. That works for Mr. Barack Hussein Wolf-in-Sheep’s-Clothing Obama, Jr.
2) Minnesota seems to have some special meaning to the “Progressive” Democratic Socialists…
2) Minnesota is the only state that Walter Mondale won in 1984. (“1984″ was also the title of George Orwell’s famous book)
3) Minnesota is next to the only state that Progressive Party nominee Robert M. La Follette, Sr. won in 1924.
Take a look at the US Presidential Elections wiki page. Take note of how many elections featured a candidate from the “Socialist” or “Progressive” party. Realize that the reason you don’t see candidates from those parties today is because they have taken over the Democrat party and now run as Democrats.
Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are both “Progressive” “Democratic” Socialists.
Give me a good reason why Obama gave this speech in Minnesota. Why not in Montana, where he actually won his last primary?
I acknowledge that he could draw a much bigger crowd in Minnesota, but that’s true of a lot of places. Why did he pick St. Paul?
Red Pill on June 5, 2008 at 2:57 PM
And that is why some dark skinned Christians will see Obama for the fraud that he is, and they will vote Republican in Nov.
Red Pill on June 5, 2008 at 2:58 PM
Why did he pick St. Paul?
Red Pill on June 5, 2008 at 2:57 PM
Interesting stuff, Red Pill, but the simplest reason is that the Republican Convention will be there in September-Obama wanted to make a mark on what will temporarily be ‘enemy territory’. Also Minnesota has become a purple state/swing state which he will need to win.
Doug on June 5, 2008 at 3:16 PM
Fair enough. The simplest reason is usually the best. Not everything is a conspiracy. ;-)
Red Pill on June 5, 2008 at 4:04 PM
Obama, “for all of us that have dreams and hope, is a hero,” Lucas said.
As long as you not an unborn baby or a viable baby who surivives an abortion, there’s no hope for them. Obama just futhers the Culture of Death. Hope?!
