I had already polished up the story a bit and posted it on my blog. Just now tried editing it with your idea, but I couldn’t make it feel just right without rewriting the whole paragraph, and I’m too dull witted at the moment to do that.

I’m sure it will be posted again (and again) here as the days days turn into weeks, enough so that even the people that agree with it will get sick of seeing it.

Well done! I recommend saving it for reposting in a fresher illegal immigration thread.

My only recommendation would be to include the word “betrayed”, in the final thoughts passage. For example:

his last thoughts: “Betrayal!!! Just how bad could that obamanation monster really have been; At least I would have been smart and fast enough to hop and swim around to keep him at a distance.

One day, a scorpion, named Johnny, looked around at the Arizona desert in which he lived, and decided that he wanted a change. He said ; “I’d like to live in a fine, big, white house, with lots of servants, rather than in this desert with nothing but dirty peasants around me. So, he set out on a journey to find this white house that he so desired.

After years of journeying; across deserts, mountains and plains, he came finally to a river; The Potomac. The river was wide and swift, and Johnny the Scorpion stopped to consider the situation. He couldn’t see any way across. And as he searched, he saw in the distance, an obamanation.

An Obamanation is a kind of a monster: they have only one wing… (the left one, so they are unable to actually fly). This particular one had long legs and its body was an empty shell, so it could run fairly well. It also has a slight magical power to cast a a glamor on the weak minded that made them think that they had hope and their lives would change, if only they would give the Obamination power over them. Now these monsters have no real powers unless you give them to them; nonetheless, they are greatly feared by many creatures who are not weak minded enough to fall for the glamor, but not strong minded enough to figure out how to protect themselves.

The scorpion, now, not only wanted that big white house to live in, but he wanted to escape from the monster. So he ran upriver looking for a bridge, then ran downriver, all the while thinking that he might have to give up his dream of the white house, and spend the rest of his life hiding under a rock like the others of his kind.

Suddenly, he saw a frog sitting in the rushes by the bank of the stream on the other side of the river. He decided to ask the frog for help getting across the stream.

“Hellooo Mr. Frog!” called the scorpion across the water, “Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?”

“Well now, Mr. Scorpion! “Just call me Connie”….but….”How do I know that if I try to help you, you wont try to stick your stinger in me as soon as I come near?”

“Because,” Johnnie the Scorpion replied; “There is a monster, an obamination coming and he will kill us both if he catches us. We will both be safe if you will only get me across the Potomac, where there is a big white house with many servants waiting for me. I will even let you come to supper there occasionally if you will help me get there.

Now this seemed to make sense to Connie the Frog, who had heard other frogs talking of the terrible left winged monsters, and Connie was very fearful of such creatures.
“Alright then…how do I know you won’t just wait till we get to the other side and THEN stick your stinger in my back???” said the frog.

“Ahh…,” crooned the scorpion, “Because you see, once you’ve taken me to the other side of this river, I will be so grateful for your help, that it would hardly be fair to stick my stinger into your back, now would it?!”

So Connie the Frog agreed to take Johnny the Scorpion across the river. He swam over to Johnny and settled himself in the mud near the bank to pick up his passenger. Johnny crawled onto the frog’s back, his sharp claws prickling into Connie’s soft hide a bit, but Connie was willing to endure that in hopes of having a friend in the fine white house with many servants, who would protect him from the obamination monster..

Connie the Frog slid into the river. The muddy water swirled around them, but the Connie stayed near the surface so the scorpion would not drown. He kicked strongly across the stream, his flippers paddling wildly against the current.

As they reached the far side of the Potomac;Just in sight of the fine white house with many servants waiting for their new master, Connie the Frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from his back and start up the path to the fine white house.

A deadening numbness began to creep into Connie’s limbs.

Connie said” Why on earth did you do that?” “I saved you from the obamanation and brought you to the gate of the house of your dreams.”

The scorpion shrugged, and said: “I could not help myself. It is my nature.”

As Johnny entered his fine white house, Connie died there on the banks of the Potomac; his last thoughts: “I wonder just how bad that obamanation monster really would have been; At least I would have been smart and fast enough to hop and swim around him and keep him at a distance. Allowing a scorpion to ride right upon my back was really a bad choice after all.

McCain’s selective outrage at pork is a pittance compared to the big government programs that he advocates.

McCain was obviously blindsided and perplexed by the question about Hernandez, It sounds to me like he barely knows the chump. Plenty of pro open border groups have just as much problem with McCain over immigration as the conservatives do. The answer lies between the extremes.

Fred Thompson is a pretty good conservative blinded by a long and close personal friendship with McCain.

As you know, I was for Fred in the “before time”, before…I believe…anyone else. Yes, he’s a very good conservative, but to say he too is “blinded” by friendship? Any evidence of this, or simply opinion? Obviously, Fred has no personal political gain by endorsing McCain.

Mitt is actually a centrist who has some good sense, a few solid conservative values, has a better grasp of economics than most liberals, but really should run as an Independent because he likes to play both sides of the field.

Again, I never liked Mitt as a candidate much. At least we agree he’s more centrist than right, and although he has a few conservative values, he’s not quite the Republican. He may or may not have “veep” on his mind, but again…I’m sticking with McCain picking Crist.

Nearly all the other ‘true’ conservatives who have endorsed McCain have done so for the sake of ‘party unity’ and wanting to preserve their own political powers… NOT because they think McCain is worth a tinkers dam.

First, what’s wrong with party unity? Look what the lack of unity is doing to the Democrats. Again, it’s simply your opinion that congressional conservatives are endorsing McCain to maintain power. On some, you may be right, or you may not be.

Lieberman IS an Independent… Who is an Independent ONLY because he has a common sense approach to Defense and the Middle East situation. Other than that, he still sits happily with the rest of the leftists on the Democrat side of the aisle.

McCain/Feingold was wrong too. Yes…it inhibited free speech. He knows that.

On the Cap and Trade, its not conservation, its the largest increase in government power EVER, and he cosponsered a couple of the bills in past years. Your blinded by his rhetoric.

As to Leiberman? HE’s a CAMPAIGN SPOKESMAN, not just a supporter…

But I don’t know why I waste the keystrokes and the electrons to get this posted. We have been through this many times before. Some people are so afraid of Obama that they refuse to admit that the one they see as their only hope for a savior has any significant flaws.

We can have some good discussions about which strategy for survival is best in the short run and in the long run, but there is no point in discussing things if all participants don’t acknowledge the realities of the situation.

Some then please tell me what or whom you are voting for?

They’re only holding on to that dream of the ultra-conservative presidential GOP nominee. I had the same dream. Didn’t happen. But I refuse to pout about it, and stay home in November to send some kind of “message” to the GOP…as others seem to think will work.

In the meantime, the country goes the way of the Union of Soviet States of America under Obama. They can live with that. I refuse to.

Henceforth “Juan McCain” shall be an acceptable monicker for our surly-soon-to-be-POTUS-on-a-longshot-US Senator John McCain.

As soon as he drops this Juan Hernandez goon from his ranks, all interested parties shall refrain from such references. It has been so written.

Amen, brutha. McCain will never have my vote. I’m certain he knows by now exactly who Juan is and his stance on these open- borders issues. In fact, I will go so far as to say that’s precisely why McAmnesty hired him in the first place. He’s trying to have his cake and eat it too (i.e. keep his liberal policies and open-borders friends while lying to conservatives that he has any knowledge of such things). Trouble is, I and many others aren’t buying into his lies.

And “amnesty” versus abortion? No comparison. And yes, I’m 100% pro-life.

Energy Policy… he voted against us drilling here. Killed ANWAR one vote. He is still not leading in the Senate to open up the Gulf even though CUBA is selling drilling rights.

Green Agenda… he is a cap and trader. Put his name on more than one bill in the last few years.

McCain/Feingold… Government control of free political speech… he wrote the dang thing.

And last, but not least, his biggest Cheerleader is LEIBERMAN! A DEMOCRAT.

And it’s true…not voting for McCain in Juan McVain giving conservatives the finger up until November means a “President Obama” is that much closer to reality.
