Is that the fault of affirmative action or the fault of the bigot who made that ignorant, prejudiced judgement? There’s no excuse for declaring any successful black suspect because of AA.
That being said, this has been an enlightening thread. Obama’s nomination is a great moment in American racial history, but many of the comments here show we have a looooong ways to go.

The victory for Mr. Obama, the son of a black Kenyan father and a white Kansan mother, broke racial barriers and represented a remarkable rise for a man who just four years ago served in the Illinois Senate. has no experience.

And Obama is about as far from a “uniter” as you can get, he’s constantly surrounded himself with racist pigs. Should he gain power, he’ll do far more harm than good.

You don’t spend your entire adult life closely associated with racists and marxists because you disagree with their ideas, and you don’t shed all that baggage just by tapping your shoes together and chanting “there’s no place like home!”

In watching and reading some of the reaction, many reveled in Obama’s nomination for the same reason. They want to feel good about America rather than have an experienced nominee.

Something I’ve said all along – he’s only in this because he’s black (and because of his name). It makes all the “young voters” (read: stupid college kids) feel special, like they’re a part of something by voting for a black guy, and they’re so edgy by voting for one who’s name has so many similarities with our enemies. “Take that mom and dad! Now send me some more money, I’m out of weed!”

It may be shocking for people to hear, but Geraldine Ferraro was 100% right, and she was only echoing something Obama himself had already said (which was the disgusting part about his campaign’s feigned outrage). Bottom line, if he was just a white guy named Barry O’Reilly, no one would have ever heard of him. He wouldn’t have ridden the Trinity train in to the Illinois Senate and wouldn’t be making a mockery of the presidency as he is today, by getting a free ride based on his skin color, when he offers nothing, his supporters have absolutely no idea why they support him (unless you count his pronunciation of “change” and “hope”, which I agree are spot on), has no experience, has gaff after gaff, racist and terrorist friends, etc. Ugh. What a shame.

I think people have their own reasons to vote for whomever they wish. I’m not going to psychoanalyze millions of people’s thoughts. However, I agree it’s pretty easy to make that conclusion.

The only person you could possibly compare him to that would be worse would be Dick Cheney, who McCain threw under the bus in his speech, to his credit.
