Face it, you’re sad. I’m sad too.
I compared her before to King Kong near the end. No need to hold the tears back. ‘Twas Clenis killed the beast.
Update: Vote GOP, ladies!
Senator Clinton has earned great respect for her tenacity and courage. The media often overlooked how compassionately she spoke to the concerns and dreams of millions of Americans, and she deserves a lot more appreciation than she sometimes received. As the father of three daughters, I owe her a debt for inspiring millions of women to believe there is no opportunity in this great country beyond their reach. I am proud to call her my friend. Pundits and party elders have declared that Senator Obama will be my opponent. He will be a formidable o ne. But I’m ready for the challenge, and determined to run this race in a way that does credit to our campaign and to the proud, decent and patriotic people I ask to lead.
Update: Serious question re: the vice presidency. If she was interested in that, why didn’t she press for it last month? Her leverage now is near zero, with some fundraisers already ready to abandon ship and others doubtless soon to follow after he’s declared the presumptive nominee. All she can offer him at this point is the promise not to throw up roadblocks in his way to the convention after he’s already begun the general campaign, but she’s not going to do that anyway for fear of jeopardizing her goodwill in 2012 (or 2016). She’s got no cards left to play. What now?
Update: Needless to say, expect something in the way of a victory speech from Obama tonight.
Update: Dude, McCain/Clinton. It’s time. Especially if the alternative is McCain/Huckabee.
Update: A fait accompli: CNN and NBC finally join the AP in reporting that Barry O’s clinched enough delegates to win the Democratic nomination. Congrats to Democrats for nominating the first major-party black candidate in American history.
Update: Will the big tete-a-tete come tomorrow?
Update: She’s rocking on, at least until tomorrow. I wonder why.

Hillary would be stupid not to take this to Denver. Obama can’t win without the super delegates. Make him win on the floor with a vote. Who knows what the political landscape will look like in August. I think Hillary is going to hold his feet to the fire until the convention. Why quit when the super delegates can put either one over the top. They vote at the convention so they have plenty of time for buyers remorse. No way should she concede. Plus the “whitey” video will be out tomorrow.

But I am going to treat Obama with the respect he deserves. I will not vote for him because he scares the bejeezus out of me, not because he is black. But then again I am sure that lots of people did vote for him just because he is black. And they are feeling so smug and morally superior right now.

Let me just put something on the record right here and now: The song he should pick to come out for his acceptance speech at the Democratic Convention is A Change is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke. Listen to it and tell me I’m wrong. I oughta get a finders fee for this it’s so perfect for him.

I really do not think most people think McCain will be Bush 43, he is still well known and has too much history of his own to mistake him for anyone else. Of course that can be good and that can be bad, but McCain is his own man.
BTW, I refuse to listen to Obama speak. I am afraid I will catch whatever his cult followers have.
Terrye on June 3, 2008 at 10:30 PM
Gosh. I’m watching Obama. And I’m actually listening to him. And I’m wondering how somebody could actually vote for him. I really hope Americans aren’t that stupid. In all seriousness, if Obama wins, I’ll lose a lot of respect for my fellow Americans. I guess you have to blame public education. They’ve created these clueless robots that will vote for a crook like Obama. It’s disgusting.

This oratory flourish will have to be overlapped with the hateful speeches of Wright and Pfleger, and Michelle O.
“Healing” was the theme, but with nothing specific. Even McCain was more conciliatory tonight than Obama. The only thing he healed was pulling his white grandma out from under the bus, because now she’s important.
It was all boilerplate nothingness. Hillary had more specifics than this, though she also orated some.
Entelechy on June 3, 2008 at 10:47 PM
“American Idol” is such a befitting name for the times of this country, or where the collective ‘minds’ of the people of this country are.

One thing about these loooong campaigns, after awhile the speeches just don’t have the same effect. I think Obama will find it hard to recapture that first glow, that crying and whining and fainting. He lost South Dakota tonight. The man who got the nomination has been losing more primaries than he has been winning lately. If the Democrats are getting tired of him, can he hope to carry enough party faithful and Independents to win a general. I hope not.
Terrye on June 3, 2008 at 11:01 PM
I just got back from an after hours meeting with some financial planners and they are all of the mindset that Obama will win the White House. Taxes will go up and the average American will continue to foot the bill of the crazy DC spendaholics.
So for fun I decided to watch MSNBC to see its coverage of this historic evening. Chris Matthews can hardly contain himself. I’m sure we will see some great quotes from him tomorrow. I caught him preaching the Liberal “useless war, soldiers dying” comment. He’s such a liberal hack…
Now that we’ve got the first black presidential nominee we are going to hear all about the possible first black candidate. Maybe I’ll change my tune and hope that Obama wins. If anything it should shut up many of the opportunistic victims in the minority world and we can stop talking about “the first black ______” once and for all.
I’m just rambling…
