It’s a twister, Fannie Mae!

Ever want to see a tornado up close and personal, then live to tell about it? MS-NBC has video from three perspectives in an Iowa bank last week as a twister destroys it. Fortunately, this happened on Memorial Day when the bank was closed for the holiday, so no one got injured. The cameras were less fortunate, as can be seen here:

Undoubtedly, those who have less-than-favorable loan terms may cheer at the bank’s renovation, but otherwise, this is a pretty impressive video about how a tornado destroys a structure. At least we don’t have to spend two hours putting up with Helen Hunt’s daddy issues to get to the best part.

Wow!

A visual metaphor with the tornado as President Obama and the bank representing the American economy?

Ed, you are a sly devil.

Maybe the bank was attacked because it rejects Mexican Consular Cards. Racist bank!

I thought that was Hill’s office after losing the Nom.

I would have stuck with Jami Gertz personally :)

Karma for our treatment of Rev. Pfleger.

The tellers just hate it when the Tasmanian Devil comes in to deposit his paycheck.

Save this footage – this may be how it looks
when the Shillary entourage crashes the convention.

being from Oklahoma, this is a common thing, the house I grew up in… located in Pryor, Oklahoma. had a foundation in the pasture behind it, nestled against a nominal hill… this foundation had pipes and nails sticking out, twisted, reaching for the sky, a small reminder of what is left when a big one comes through… in Oklahoma there are many tornadoes every year, but a few are the big ones F3 and F4’s I don’t have recollection of any F5’s but I’m sure they’ve been around…

watching the video I naturally think “what would I have done?” and I just can’t say you could have done much of anything but kiss it goodbye…

Amazing video footage. That’s why I keep my savings in the coffee can buried in the garden.

D’oh!

They only installed those cameras to protect the bank from criminals…they aren’t in it for the science!

About 4 or 5 years ago, we spent the night in the basement watching the weather channel as three of them converged on us from the southwest. One of them was a F-5 that completely destroyed Hallam, NE, ran along the road a mile north of us, then veered northeast to destroy a large high school and many homes. I don’t know where the other 2 went, but we didn’t get much damage. Electricity was out, and we had 8 inches of rain that night. It went on till 4:00 AM. I went over to help with the cleanup in Hallam and got my first taste of FEMA. After a day of them, we told them to get out, and we’d take care of our own. Total assholes.

Back in the late 70’s an F5 tornado hit downtown Wichita Falls, TX late in the afternoon. As it was approaching a bank all the employees and customers hid in the bank safe and locked the safe behind them. The building was totally destroyed but the folks in the bank vault survived. Then again, a German exchange pilot at Shepard AFB was on leave that day and when the tornado was heading straight for his apartment, he ran into the laundry room and crawled into a dryer (he took great pictures of the storm as it flattened a middle school across the street that was being built) he lived with just some black and blue marks on his legs. The worst thing is to be in your car and get cought by the storm – it’s a death sentence.

Was that an alien peeking in the window right before the storm hit?

This would never have happened if y’ll had stopped exhaling.

That wasn’t actually a tornado. It was the tab for my recent home renovation passing through on its way to my checking account.

Helen Hunt’s daddy issues

Oh, come on; she looked pretty hot in that movie.

Yeah there was that one scene where like 80 mile per hour winds plastered her top to her chest, it was almost like being there.

That one gave me a chuckle, thanks.

Since I’m an Iowa native it really saddens me to see how much destruction took place in my home state. KCRG.com has another video that’s from a surveilance cam across the street from a house and shows the house being completely destroyed. It reminds you of just how small we really are on this planet.

Afterimage on June 4, 2008 at 10:00 AM

That was Global warming if I have ever seen it. A new Tax and a little more bureaucracy will take care of that.

Do the Twist.

Well shake it up baby, now,
shake it up baby,
Twist and shout,
Twist and shout.

Of course I realize those are different songs…

Come on baby,
Let’s do the twist…
