Video: “Wayne’s World” returns
posted at 5:09 pm on June 2, 2008 by Allahpundit
From last night’s MTV Movie Awards. Ace linked this Cracked preview of Mike Myers’s new movie earlier but watch it after this if you haven’t yet. This isn’t the only gag MM’s recycling these days.
As for Carvey, looks like he had nothing better to do. Exit question: What happened?

Couldn’t be bothered to really write any new jokes, eh?
I did not lol.

Shaaaa… as IF!

What is the point?
Even my high schooler, who loves the movie, thought this was pathetic.
Blue-eyed Infidel on June 2, 2008 at 5:17 PM
I love Wayne’s World. This sketch was cool. I am glad to see Dana Carvey once again. I hope to see more of him in the future.
jencab on June 2, 2008 at 5:17 PM
The MTV movie awards were last night? Well, that explains that curious empty feeling of loss that’s dogged me all day.
saint kansas on June 2, 2008 at 5:18 PM
*shrug* Myers has always recycled jokes.

Self parody is so self gratifying.
A whole big room of Obama supporters to play for.
Hening on June 2, 2008 at 5:27 PM
Carvey had that botched heart surgery stalling his career, but a lot of it might be that he’s a genius at the five-minute gag, and stretching that out to a money-making eighty minute movie often fails.
calbear on June 2, 2008 at 5:28 PM
Are you related to SaintOlaf?
Red Pill on June 2, 2008 at 5:29 PM
Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
jaime on June 2, 2008 at 5:31 PM
Stink, Stank, Stunk.
GoodBoy on June 2, 2008 at 5:32 PM
You grew up?
Plus, Carvey is like 60.
VolMagic on June 2, 2008 at 5:33 PM
Well, at least there was something that was at least passably funny at this debuached display of self-absorbed Hollywierdness.
kevcad on June 2, 2008 at 5:37 PM
I thought Carvey intentionally retired.
Sydney Carton on June 2, 2008 at 5:40 PM
But why not cameos? Or animated movies, which the other SNL alums all seem to be doing. It is weird. He doesn’t seem to be touring (stand-up) or anything.
Tanya on June 2, 2008 at 5:41 PM
Typical comeback. Awful.
MadisonConservative on June 2, 2008 at 5:44 PM
Proving once again, recycled vulgarity isn’t funny.
AteMyFoot on June 2, 2008 at 5:52 PM
Just wanted to say, of all the people who have so called blogs, and the many here that link to their “informative” sites…I think you are the best writer of all. You have a “Somerset Maugham” way of looking at people. You are an excellent writer.
I click on it to get an interesting life perspective, thanks for making that available.
right2bright on June 2, 2008 at 5:56 PM
They all “retire” when nothing is offered to them.
right2bright on June 2, 2008 at 5:57 PM
Hmmm, either I’m getting old or it just wasn’t that funny (or maybe both).
The first movie was funny, the second one wasn’t.
Dana Carvey has a great movie called “Opportunity Knocks”.
Mike Myers’ best movie was “So I Married an Axe Murderer”. “If it’s not Scottish, it’s CRRRRAP!”
Tony737 on June 2, 2008 at 6:06 PM
I found this promo rather amusing.
Also the Kung Fu Panda vs. Iron Man bit was pretty clever.
The Ugly American on June 2, 2008 at 6:13 PM
That’s never stopped other SNL alums from making HORRIBLE COMEDIES:
Corky Romano (W/ Chris Kattan, shoulda made a monkeyboy movie)
Stuart Saves His Family (Franken Fails yet again)
Superstar (Poor Molly Shannon)
It’s Pat (I feel no pity for any souls involved in this)
Blues Brothers 2000 (blasphemy, I tells ya!)
A Night At The Roxbury (funny for about 2 seconds)
The Ladies Man (Tim “The Token” Meadows bribe to get him to FINALLY leave SNL)
Exit question: ANy other SNL stinkers I’ve overlooked?
omnipotent on June 2, 2008 at 6:15 PM
I forgot The Coneheads (I’ll forgive Akroyd for this one, because his wife is soooooo hot!)

Waiting for Wayne’s World: Retirement Edition.
indythinker on June 2, 2008 at 6:29 PM
Boy, that just sucked.
TheSitRep on June 2, 2008 at 7:02 PM
Yes, Tony737. Opportunity Knocks is my favorite comedy!
It’s good to see that these two ended the feud.
blink on June 2, 2008 at 7:08 PM
The Coneheads, Wayne’s World, and Talladega Nights, according to my 17 and 12 yr old sons, were funny…in an old, parental unit sort of way.
They served as a distraction during cold and flu season when they stayed home from school hoping not to vomit…more…
(my apologies to the weak stomached folks in the blogosphere…we use TV as a medicinal hypnotonic when needed…occasionally we do reach for the class II narcotics and decongestants…but only if Mike Meyers, Will Ferrell, or Dan Ackroyd haven’t made the NyQuil version of cold and flu video. And they usually do….until the characters puke or have their heads sliced off by a skate).
Enjoy…
evilcon555 on June 2, 2008 at 7:09 PM
Actually, Stuart Saves His Family was quite good, albeit unsuccessful at the box office.

It is all Bush’s fault. Bush 41.
Valiant on June 2, 2008 at 7:47 PM
It was cute in a lame way.
It’d be nice to see Carvey back in action though. Five heart procedures would slow anybody down.
Iblis on June 2, 2008 at 7:57 PM
Oh my gosh. Thanks. :o)
*blushes*
Tanya on June 2, 2008 at 8:06 PM
Actually, I liked this one. Every day around noon, I run around work going “lunch… lunch… lunch…”
Then Aykroyd burns his mouth on hot pizza and douses the heat with Windex.
RMCS_USN on June 2, 2008 at 9:34 PM
This serves as entertainment to the lefty crowd. Yea, that explains a lot….

That is a great movie if you can find it in the rents..
a great underrated comedy…
Molly Shannon did a movie called ‘Year of the Dog’.. the first half of the movie was funny.. (30-45 minutes or so) the last half was some commercial for PETA..
like a dinner of a nice cheeseburger, then $#it sundae for desert..
Will Ferrel has been doing okey.. but doing the same formula as ‘Anchorman; The Legend of Ron Burgundy’
after Austin Powers, the last one, and the shreks.. I think Mike Meyers has had his heyday..
his new movie looks about the same as the Austin Powers flicks.. lots of stage makeup and wigs.. funny accent.. weak plot to play out gags..
