Video: Hillary sure sounding like she’s ready to rock on a bit further

Mutiny was in the air during the conference call with her top donors this afternoon, but cooler heads prevailed. It sounds like she’s merely going to “suspend” the campaign, not drop out, just in case, well … you know.
Or is she? Today on the plane:
Exit question: Does this sound like a woman getting ready to bail? Quote: “Tomorrow is the last day of the primaries and the beginning of a new phase in the campaign. After South Dakota and Montana vote I will lead in the popular vote and Senator Obama will lead in the delegate count. The voters will have voted and so the decision will fall to the delegates empowered to vote at the Democratic Convention.”

When the clock strikes twelve, we’ll cool off then,
Start a rockin’ round the clock again.
We’re gonna rock around the clock tonight,
We’re gonna rock, rock, rock, ’til convention night.
We’re gonna rock, gonna rock, all the way to Denver tonight.

Popular vote?
Does that mean Al Gore should have been president?
Can the rule be applied in retrospect?
Is this a Democracy?
This country is in chaos that started in 2000.
I think we should decide what we want.
Do we want one person, one vote?
Or do we want bullshit?
My choice is clear.
Amend the Constitution.
Yes, amend it. It’s not sacred.
Time to restore voters’ right.
Enough Bullshit.

Hey Hillary, here is a hint that might keep you going………. Why don’t you ask that all of the Military votes are counted from our soldiers fighting over seas?

I didn’t see The Factor tonight but since we’re recycling Hillary’s Hamlet act and the show’s hours old and there’s nothing yet that it wasn’t the mack truck rolling over the roadkill as I’d hoped. Let me guess, a lot of “you’re a straight-up guy for coming on my show, Scott….”?

Maybe she’ll win South Dakota and do an upset in Montana? What’ll happen then?
From pollster.com
(American Research Group/ARG polling)
Montana
Obama 48, Clinton 44
South Dakota
Clinton 60, Obama 34
Can you imagine if she pulls that off?

in spirit I don’t disagree with you. But we know that the electoral college was implemented by our Founding Fathers as a way to control the beast that a true democracy can be. It was put in place as a measure against demagogues, and tyranny by the majority (51% can control the 49%) so we have a Constitutional Republic (99% cannot control the 1%

Maybe it is now time for the leadership in the Democratic Party (whoever it may be, depending on which way the wind is blowing) to just step in and pull the plug on her demolished wreck of a campaign once and for all. Consider it a mercy killing.
pilamaye on June 2, 2008 at 10:11 PM
Unless Obama actually takes the delegate count (not the superdelegates) I see no reason for her to get out. So much has gone on in the last month or so, that even if Obama were to get the SDs needed, she should still stay in till the convention, and force those SDs to put up. I used to think it was all about the SDs, but they have waited so long, and Obama has been self destructing, that I think they are losing control and direction. If they side with Obama, she should make them pull the trigger while she’s looking at them straight in the eyes (and of course I’m speaking politically here).

My common sense, my sane way of thinking is telling me that only ‘one person, one vote’ is the ONLY way to actually have a fair election results.
Think about it. It’s not a difficult mathematical equation.
One person, one vote.
I don’t care about history.
Why ignoring the people’ choices?
Enough is enough. Common sense must prevail.
How difficult is that? One person, one vote.
Get used to it.

It doesn’t make sense to me. It shouldn’t make sense to anybody.
Can’t you see?
How difficult is it to count every single vote and decide elections upon the total of the actual votes, not on some imaginary bullshit called “delegates” and “electoral college”?
Think independently.
You will make more sense.
Indy Conservative on June 2, 2008 at 10:19 PM
The highest office we should vote for is the House. Let the state legislatures elect to the Senate, and have them throw darts at a phone book to pick the President.
VolMagic on June 2, 2008 at 10:19 PM
There will be no concession speech from Hillary. Just a photo op courtesy of Colorado’s finest.
IrishEi on June 2, 2008 at 10:20 PM
The better solution would be to abandon the ‘winner takes all’ formula and split part of the electoral votes based on which candidate wins the state. Abandoning the Electoral College would be relegating smaller states to second-class status.
Slublog on June 2, 2008 at 10:22 PM
Further thoughts from Politico. Thought this was key from the article:
Nothing earth shattering; many others have pointed out that Obama won’t get the delegate lead. But with both lacking enough delegates, the SDs will be left out in the open, for all to see, that they are the ones who are calling this. If she drops out, then that will give them cover, and it will appear that Obama won “naturally“. Stay in, Hillary!
Weight of Glory on June 2, 2008 at 10:24 PM
Exactly, candidates would only have to listen to people who lived in populated areas like New York and California.

terryannonline on June 2, 2008 at 10:34 PM
Iowa, Idaho, Wyoming, Delaware, Maine, etc etc etc…would NEVER have to have another campaign stop. A candidate could fly to the 20 biggest cities and URBAN politics would run the nation.
Limerick on June 2, 2008 at 10:37 PM
There should be a reform, an amendment regarding Congress and the Presidency.
The concept of ‘one person, one vote’ must be applied no matter what changes in the structure of Congress occur.
I cannot imagine calling ourselves a Democracy where people voices are heard while we are suppressing their votes and reducing them to some nonsense called “electoral college,” “delegates” or whatever.
Why America, of all nations, is keeping this unfair system of government? Because it worked? NO
I tell you why.
Because the people were mum. Nobody dared saying ‘enough is enough.’
Well, I say if we want fairness, if we want true Democracy then the people’s choices must be met as they are, without further interpretation.
See, with ‘one person, one voice’ you will not have problems, everybody will be satisfied with the results.
Problems only occur when injustice occurs.
And injustice was hidden for 200 years and surfaced recently, luckily for us so we can start amending our flawed system.
Indy Conservative on June 2, 2008 at 10:37 PM
I admire your passion, and I obviously can’t dispute your personal opinion. It is my personal opinion that the electoral college is one of the few remaining pillars of our origional Republic, which is based on the rights of the individual. If America were a true democracy, the rights of the individual would be subject to the will of the majority. Our Founders (peace be upon them) built a society where a person had inalienable rights (set forth a new nation), given to them by the Lord, (if your not religious, then replace “Lord” with “power beyond man”) not by his fellow man. And no man, nor any majority, has the authority to take away those rights.
It’s unfortunate that we just don’t see eye to eye here, but as one whose been to “independant” for some of the Hot Air bloggers, it makes perfect sense to me.
RMC1618 on June 2, 2008 at 10:37 PM
We’re not a democracy, so no need to call ourselves one.
Slublog on June 2, 2008 at 10:40 PM
Let’s go to dinner, Chinese, on me. We need to talk. In a ‘pure’ democracy every lemming gets a vote, including your goat and your dead uncles. Imagine that amnesty 2, 3, 4, at infinitum go through. We’d end up with Obamas for the rest of this country’s short life, as you know it. No more independent thinking, fooling around, laissez faire anything, including for you, in fact, especially for you.
I can name you many countries where 1 for 1 votes do happen, and it’s a disaster. Those old guys knew what they were doing. I like it that my big California has 2 senators, just like Rhode Island. You can like it too, and if not, you can live with it, and still be independent, free, strange and adorable.
Entelechy on June 2, 2008 at 10:40 PM
Har. I doubt the fine people of Wyoming, Montana, and Delaware will be pleased.
I dunno. The thought of LA and NY being the only places relevant in the political process seems pretty unjust.

I think we should give each state one vote, and each state should determine for itself how to procure that vote (i.e. popular, legislative, electoral etc.).
In a strictly popular vote, I think the minority opinion would be completely ignored.
That old saying comes to mind:
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding what’s for dinner.
Saltysam on June 2, 2008 at 10:46 PM
She’ll still be short in the pledged delegate department and neither state will help move along her popular vote argument. The only affect it could have would be momentum in the SUPERDELEGATE race.
malan89 on June 2, 2008 at 10:46 PM
In theory, that may work in a perfect world. But perfection (Utopia) does not exist in this world, our Founders understood that, and implemented a system that would protect us from ourselves.
RMC1618 on June 2, 2008 at 10:47 PM
No, no, no. You will be the first not to be satisfied. The clueless would outvote you every single time. The founders knew this. You sound like a rabid liberal on this topic. No food for you for a week, not frogs, not bouillabaisse, not Chinese either.
Entelechy on June 2, 2008 at 10:48 PM
Shall we also cease the supression of votes by dissolving the Congress? I mean, all people aren’t voting on all issues… which according to your implications, is inherently unfair. Doing away with the EC is logically followed by the dissolution of Congress.
One more thing – if you do continue down the line with things like…
… allow me and 300M other people take several hours out of our day to read 100 page bills, go to comittee, hearings, the floor, vote, argue… and let us bring on the full brunt of ‘every vote must count’, the return of ‘chad’ to the news and the general destruction of the economy by lost productivity.
Representation is great by me, in the EC and in Congress. I’m with terryann and Limerick 100% on this one.

You overestimate the masses, and surprise me greatly, as you’ve often stated how naive (and I put it nicely) they are. Decisions must often be made which don’t make the people happy, for a republic to survive. That’s why we have representative government. What we must do is remind our representatives that they work for us and not the other way around. Also, that they should go home after a term or too, so that people like you could take their place. I’d vote for you. Many here would ‘divorce’ me for it, but I love independent people more than any other.
Making sense is not liberal. You are not making sense tonight, and that’s why I called you liberal, hoping that you’re not one. They aren’t very independent/
