Chelsea: Of course Mom wants more gun control!

Uh-oh. Chelsea Clinton lets the cat out of the bag, and in Montana of all places. During a Q&A with supporters in Billings, Chelsea said that the nation “need[s] to do more with gun control”. Did she notice the gun racks on the trucks while traveling through Big Sky Country?
During a question and answer session before seniors and other supporters at the Yellowstone County Council on Aging Office Friday morning, Chelsea said, “We also need to do more with gun control. And my mom supports- naturally what she supported in New York. Which is: we have different gun control laws in New York City than we do in upstate New York. I think a lot of people think of New York City as just being New York, but actually the majority of New York State, not only land mass wise, but also people wise, lives outside New York City- and we have very different gun control laws in New York City as what we do in upstate New York.” …
The younger Clinton made her remarks in a response to a question from Yellowstone County Commissioner Bill Kennedy (D), who asked her what efforts could be made to get more cops on the street.
Dave at Political Machine notes that Hillary has adapted her rhetoric on gun control to suit her political ambitions at the time. When first campaigning for her Senate seat in 2000, she adopted Chuck Schumer’s enthusiasm for gun control. In this campaign, she has tried to distance herself from it, using the Rudy Giuliani construct that local government somehow trumps the Constitution on the 2nd Amendment.
If you find that confusing, then you can’t blame Chelsea Clinton for being confused as well. Link to video is here.

The first of that clip is funny; anchor is talking about Hillary and her schedule with a graphic of BO on the screen for the whole time.
That report though was balanced. They used CC’s remarks and also explained BO’s pov. Safe to say the NRA won’t be endorsing either:)

Isn’t she speaking out of both sides of her mouth, just like mommy and daddy? Is she saying that Hillary supports tight gun control in urban cities but loose control in rural America?

Considering DC vs. Heller, this is not an issue to bring up yet. At all.

It’s their way of trying to get more gun control by starting in big cities (since you don’t hunt there) but at the same time trying to keep from losing the pro-2nd Amendment bitter gun-toting, Bible-clinging people in “Jesusland”.
She needs those votes in order to make the best case she can to the Super Delegates.

I’m thinking that Hillary, McCain, and Barry can work an eco angle on this too… how about interpreting the second amendment as the right to arm bears… that way those poor little polar bears can arm themselves in case those evil oil drillers come by.

It should also be noted that these Crypto-Marxists oppose drilling in ANWR or anywhere else because they want us to be dependent on hostile countries for our oil needs.
Meanwhile, with the price of oil at record highs, Russia is making a lot of money from oil.
The cold war ain’t over folks.
And Senator Joe McCarthy was right. There are significant numbers of Communists in high levels of all three branches of our government.

Why is it news or a surprise when a liberal or a democrat is for gun control? Why is it a surprise that they lie about their position? It’s like saying water is wet.

Yeah, that’s part of their agenda, too.
Know your enemy…
They last amended their constitution at their 27th National Convention on July 8, 2001 in Milwaukee, WI.

It’s summer during the fervor of campaign season, and Chertoff denies AQ WMD in the midst of international chatter to the contrary. Considering the volatility of our day, even those FOR gun control have the sense to talk about other issues at the moment. So when the subject gets newly dosed, there’s the gawker’s pleasure in noting who spilled the beans.

I was out practicing gun control while BO was practicing throwing churches under buses. I think it would be interesting to see how much firearms and ammo sales have gone up with the threat of a Marxist, gun hating, quasi-Christian, racist on the steps to the POTUS.
Ammo prices unfortunately have gone through the roof.

Democrats agenda even shorter form – subjugation.
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on June 2, 2008 at 11:18 AM
Perhaps. I would have thought so all along, her parents keeping her under wraps forever while she “blossomed”. But oddly, the Bush twins adore her and dream to emulate Chelsea Clinton who hones personal skills and charms and whom the press seem to adore. With such praise, I guess Jenna is doing her part from Austin to keep it weird. Bushs aside, America loves an icon. And of her generation, Chelsea will likely be the leader of the pack. Look out for that day; she will be indomitable. She is crafting her alliances already.
maverick muse on June 2, 2008 at 11:20 AM
Subjugation according to American Heritage Dictionary.
Yep. Pretty much sums it up. Gun control will be first on the agenda.

All you have to do to conflate gun rights with environmentalism is to just reverse two words in the second amendment. Instead of having the right to bear arms, we just have to change it to the right to arm bears.

Some democrats figured it out long ago and wised up, but not Hillary, not Obama either. They have 0 respect for our constitution. They don’t give a damn what we want either, it’s their marxist agenda. Yet idiots will vote for them.
2theright on June 2, 2008 at 11:52 AM
Actually, we do need more gun control in this country. I suspect that most people, if handed a firearm, could not hit the broad side of a barn – which, in my mind, indicates a serious lack of gun control.

The second amendment is in for big trouble if either Obama or Hillary are elected president.

Really?? Funny how you have become an expert on weapon use? Have you ever fired a weapon or owned a gun? Anyway you are definately wrong because people don’t usually arm themselves without going through some training or experience in weapon handling.

abcurtis on June 2, 2008 at 12:43 PM
Nepotism in politics? I am shocked, shocked I say! ;0
Seriously, darling Chelsea has always been given a pass in a way that the Bush girls were denied. We were lectured that Chelsea got into Stanford on her academic merit while Barbara and Jenna Bush were academic lightweights who would be attending community college were it not for familial connections. If Chelsea marries, it will be reported as if a fairytale instead of the way they kept mentioning that Jenna Bush’s husband worked for Karl Rove. There simply is a double standard and there always will be unless or until Chelsea runs for office- then the gloves come off. I guess we should just be happy that Chelsea seems to be far more complete as a human being than Amy Carter.
highhopes on June 2, 2008 at 12:46 PM
That would fit right in with Clinton’s triangulation. The people in the big cities want tight gun control, the people in the country dont. So Hillary, by taking the middle ground, can make everybody happy by being for tight control when she speaks in the city and for loose control when she’s in the country. Chelsea just got confused as to where she was.
It’s like an old story I heard years ago: When asked where he stood on a particular issue, the politician answered – “Half of my friends are for it, and half of my friends are against it. I stand with my friends.”
Hillary is standing with her friends.
abcurtis on June 2, 2008 at 12:48 PM
I spent most of my life working with highly educated people – engineers, physicists and scientists. Most of them, not all but most, were dumber than a box of rocks. They could tell you how high was up or give you a mathematical formula to cut down a 12 inch tree with a six inch saw, but everyday realities were totally foreign to them. One of the scientists would forget to eat, and pass out in the lab. Another would forget to come home and his wife could call him and remind him. Another lived in his office and about once a year the Navy corpsmen had to come and get him, take him to the hospital and have him scrubbed up and shot full of vitamins and antibiotics. But he was a genius if you could get close enough to him to talk to him. So a great education doesnt necessarily make you smart, just well educated.

Seen on the t-shirt of that big dude in Happy Gilmore:
“Guns don’t kill People. I kill people.”
RMCS_USN on June 2, 2008 at 1:35 PM
I agree with you on that point.
One of the things that makes the United States of America unique is that we truly were founded as a Christian nation. No state-run church (thank God), but the foundation of our Constitution came from concepts in the Bible. (*)
We are unique in that our nation was founded on July 4th, 1776 with the following mindset:
Our certain unalienable Rights are endowed by our Creator and cannot be taken away. Our Constitution is intended to limit our government so that it is never strong enough to deny us our unalienable Rights.
Other governments of the world grant certain rights to the people, and you are correct that anything the government gives, the government can take away.
(*) Donald Lutz and Charles Hyneman reviewed an estimated 15,000 items with explicit political content printed between 1760 and 1805 and from these items they identified 3,154 references to other sources. The source they most often quoted was the Bible.

Thanks, Maxx. I’ve posted the links to their Constitution and their Game Plan several times, but I had never posted the entire Preamble to their Constitution before. I was starting to think that maybe I’ve been posting that too much, but comments such as yours make it clear that the message still needs to be delivered. Not every Democrat is a Communist (although a lot are…some notable exceptions are Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman, but look how hated they are by other
DemocratsDemocratic Socialists!), and not every Communist is a Democrat (I personally believe that McCain is a Republican example…his leadership of the McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill is 100% in line with the goals of the Communist Party USA).For sure, Clinton and Obama are Crypto-Marxists. Hillary is just better at the “Crypto” part than Obama is.
You are absolutely correct that the Communist PREAMBLE reads just like any Democrat speech.
Compare the following to Obama’s “A More Perfect Union” speech:
Red Pill on June 2, 2008 at 2:09 PM
docdave – I am guessing that you have never heard the old saw about “Gun control is hitting your target.” My post was that “many people” (not gunowners) “if handed a firearm could not [hit their target]“. In my experience, too many people suffer from an unreasonable fear of guns (or weapons in general).
I’m pretty sure that almost everyone who has legally acquired a gun is capable of using it in a safe manner. I suspect that you read something into my post which was not intended.

docdave on June 2, 2008 at 2:30 PM
I’m glad y’all cleared that up. Most of us here are pretty much on the same page when it comes to the 2nd amendment. It is protection of our right to defend ourselves against any evil, including a tyrannical government that steps outside the limits imposed on it by the Constitution.
I myself do not even own a gun. But my wife does, and she is an excellent shot. She had to drive through the Rodney King riots in LA, and immediately thereafter went through the process to purchase a Ruger. She then got an off-duty FBI agent to train her how to shoot. I’ve seen a sample paper target that she shot at, and every one of her bullet holes is either in the center of the forehead, or center of the heart.
And she has hollow-tip ammo.
I.E., don’t mess with her. She is the nicest person you could ever meet, but don’t mess with her.

pseudonominus on June 2, 2008 at 3:24 PM
Clearly, the Amendments to the Constitution were put into place to protect individuals from government intrusion. Yet, left wing liberal congress critters and judges want to instill their will, contrary thereof, upon us. I’ve always been amazed at how clear and simple wording was used by the framers, however, lawmakers/judges have been able to con-volute, and write thousands of pages to contradict the Constitution.
I’d still like to see a Constitutional Amendment, whereby in the general election, Americans could vote through the initiative process, namely to recall elected and appointed officials…including federal judges.

Where was Chelsea when Hillary was telling PA voters about hunting near the Rodham family home in the Scranton area? What plays well in the PA Badlands plays even better in Big Sky country, but Chelsea didn’t listen to her Grandpa well. Maybe she was out jogging in Battery Park, dodging sniper fire.
Chelsea will just have to go out and shoot a goose in Ohio, John Kerry style.
What will Barry O say to this?
Steve Z on June 2, 2008 at 3:54 PM
If you really want to know, my thoughts on self-defence are based on Bible passages (probably no surprise there).
The battle we fight is more spiritual than physical:
Any physical weapon can be used against you in hand-to-hand combat, so while I believe in the right to bear arms, I don’t think that a gun is my most effective weapon.
When under attack, try quoting scripture and watch the demons flee…

Red Pill on June 2, 2008 at 9:40 PM
You want a real life example?
It worked for this unarmed woman when she was abducted by an armed killer who had already murdered other armed people.
The reason this guy surrendered was that the woman witnessed to him about Jesus Christ and read the Bible to him. If, on the other hand, she had tried to pull a gun on him, she could easily have ended up as dead as the armed sheriff’s deputy he shot earlier that day.
Red Pill on June 2, 2008 at 10:07 PM
Actually I do.
First, I really appreciate your willingness to protect others. I suspect you are a current or former member of our armed services. If so, thank you.
Second, I wouldn’t quite call myself a pacifist, as there is a time to kill…
…but I do prefer to fight battles spiritually rather than physically. And it really does work. I’ve been with friends eating and talking (not drinking alcohol) with friends at a local ale house late at night. When it’s closing time and occasionally one or more drunk patrons want to pick a fight, I start talking to them about Jesus Christ and they literally flee! It’s similar in some ways to this:
