Obama “disappointed,” Pfleger “deeply sorry” for comments about Hillary; Update: Hillary’s camp rips Pfleger

Wouldn’t you know it, not only is Obama surprised to find his friend of 20 years spouting the sort of rhetoric for which he’s famous in Chicago for spouting, but Pfleger himself sounds surprised. Amazing how much he and his circle of confidants managed to miss about their own behavior over the past few, er, decades.
“As I have traveled this country, I’ve been impressed not by what divides us, but by all that that unites us. That is why I am deeply disappointed in Father Pfleger’s divisive, backward-looking rhetoric, which doesn’t reflect the country I see or the desire of people across America to come together in common cause,” Obama said in a statement…
Response of Rev. Michael L. Pfleger of statements made during a sermon on Sunday, May 25, 2008[:]
“I regret the words I chose on Sunday. These words are inconsistent with Senator Obama’s life and message, and I am deeply sorry if they offended Senator Clinton or anyone else who saw them.”
I wonder if either of them even read those statements before they were put out. This little kerfuffle provides us with the first evidence I’ve seen, incidentally, of pro-Hillary lefties softening a bit on Obama. Check out the refrain at Talk Left about how Pfleger, whose endorsement until recently was featured on Barry O’s “faith” webpage, “has nothing to do with Barack Obama.” Exit question: Does the following clip have nothing to do with him either? It’s Pfleger again, at Trinity again a few months ago, lying through his teeth in vintage Team Obama fashion about what Bill Clinton meant with his “fairy tale” comment and then proceeding to offer the same defense of Wright — that the soundbites don’t represent the real man — that Obama himself once did. Before, that is, he figured out that they do. “Surprise” again.
Update: Carpe diem, Howard Wolfson.
“Divisive and hateful language like that is totally counterproductive in our efforts to bring our party together and have no place at the pulpit or in our politics. We are disappointed that Senator Obama didn’t specifically reject Father’s Pflegler’s dispicable [sic] comments about Senator Clinton, and assume he will do so.”

Amazing that these hate-mongering pastors all congregate around Obama’s church. He’s consistently shocked – shocked, I tell ‘ya – that they’re like that.
Meanwhile, Obama’s other family military stories don’t add up.

Another non-apology apology. “I’m not sorry for what I said, just the words I chose to express my intent. And I’m sorry that you were offended, not that I said it.”

Really, Obama’s just disappointed that they haven’t figured out to turn off the cameras before they say the same crap he’s been bringing his daughters to learn since they were born.

Jeez, what kind of cloud does Obama live on? He thinks Afghanis speak Arabic, hasn’t had any hearings on Afghanistan while he’s the chair of the commitee, thinks a couple of Ag advisors can stop people in Afghanistan from growing poppies, doesn’t realize the church he’s belonged to for 20 years is racist and scary, doesn’t notice that the Reverends he’s listened to, even quoted, are racist demagogues, thinks there are 57 states, and thinks that most Americans like to eat arugula. What is up with this dude? Seriously.

its not so much the relationship between this guy and obama as it is the racist and supremacist attitude amongst obamas black supporters that should upset and worry Hillary’s white supporters.

This Pfleger character is unadulterated poison (dare I say “evil”?). He is the polar opposite of a Christian, and Barry can’t pretend he didn’t know what a creep his is. Heck the congregation that Barry and Michelle sat with for 20 years clearly loves him, just as they love Jermiah Wright.
By the way, I’m not a Catholic, but if I were I’d be demanding this disgusting worm be excommunicated, pronto.

Here in Montana, Obama is flooding the airwaves with commercials in which he represents himself as an avid supporter of our troops, and references a bill of some kind he supported that has something to do with the GI bill. Obama’s commercials in Montana paint the picture that he loves soldiers, and supports them in every way. The reason for this is simple; Montanans have a very high rate of military personal in most every family. Dang near everyone here has a family member (or several) that are currently serving; therefore, Obama directs his pure bullshit message at military families. The other message Obama is pushing in Montana, paints the picture that Obama will always protect the hunters and fisherman of Montana so that they can continue to hunt & fish with their children and grand children for generations upon generations. Once again, pure bullshit based on this man’s Liberal voting record.
Big problem here in Montana folks. Montanans are not happy with the Republican Party. Many say they will not vote for the Liberal, but say McCain must earn their vote or they will stay at home this election. Montana has (2) Democrat Senators, and a Democrat governor. How did this come about you ask; Montanans rid themselves of the Republicans that held those offices due to corruption and phony promises. People here tend to vote for the candidate rather than the party. These three Democrats ran on a Conservative platform, and won. McCain had better wake up and stop with the “climate change” bullshit or he will lose in Montana. Obama is attempting to run to the right of McCain in this state.

The church has been cracking down on guys like Pfleger for a while, which is what makes Pfleger so unusual. The church decided a while ago to crack down on guys like Pfleger after they had too many clergy getting tied in with radical groups, particularly Marxist groups in Latin America, and have generally been doing so.
Unfortunately, the Cardinal of Chicago is too much of a spineless wuss to do deal with Pfleger as he is supposed to. The Cardinal needs to be retired and Pfleger needs to be severely reprimanded and sanctioned, if not removed from the priesthood altogether.

Pfleger supports Obama, a pro-abortion candidate who voted for the partial birth abortion amendment. He should be excommunicated, but Cardinal George will never do it because he’s afraid of Pfleger.
Not only that Pfleger is addicted to the camera the way Sharpton and Jackson are. I think he’s on the news once a week around here always spouting something hateful and insipid.
He’s been at his parish for decades and has a regular fiefdom, something the Catholic Church has always said it would never allow a priest to do.
Sensible Mom on May 29, 2008 at 9:30 PM

Rev. Michael Pfleger is an embarrassment to the Catholic church. I’m not a Hitlery Klintoon supporter, however, for a church sermon, his rant about her was pathetic and out of line. IMO, the sooner the Chicago Archdiocese gets rid of him, the better off the church will be. Further IMO, ANY church that preaches hate from the pulpit, should lose their tax exempt status.

There’s no use in even denying it anymore. Barack Obama is, at his core, the same hate-filled racist as these people. You cannot spend 20 yrs in this type of environment and not feel the same way. Any sensible decent person would have literally sprinted away from this church the first time they heard anything like this. Barack, no doubt, heard this type of thing on a regular basis for 2 full decades. Why deny his inner hate-filled racism?
I’d go as far as to say anyone who attends this church is not only a racist at heart, but more importantly- dangerous. If this man is elected leader of the free world, we are all screwed, and I don’t believe that to be hyperbole.
TheBlueSite on May 29, 2008 at 11:32 PM
Why doesn’t BO distance himself from that new Trinity pastor, who said after Pfleger’s comments, “Thank God for that message & for the messenger”?
jgapinoy on May 29, 2008 at 11:32 PM
Obama can’t distance himself because deep down he shares the same views. He doesn’t want to alienate those in the same ranks too much.

Trinity and Obama is a chapter not finished, by far not.

The Church needs to excommunicate this man. As a Catholic I’m embarrassed that he’s a priest and I have no respect for him. In fact, he’s pro-choice which is ex-communicable in the Catholic Church. He needs to go.
This is great for Obama. Say what you want about the preachers, whom he disavows, but he says he won’t disavow his church. Man, look at those parishoners whooping it up over his comments!
Keep it coming, Trinity, keep it coming.

I love these guys they are like a parody of what one would expect of a Christian religious figure. The screaming faux outrage cracks me up. And then there is the educational element. Until I saw this I had no idea that Jeremiah Wright was one of the nation’s leading biblical scholars. How extraordinary – I thought he was just a race-baiting demagogue.
Ares on May 30, 2008 at 4:01 AM
I see no way around this fact, now. Jeremiah Wright’s inflammatory words were not taken out of context or character, and were not just anomalous, non-representative incidents. Pfleger and Moss’ behavior here confirms it.
Obama has belonged to a hateful, racist organization for 20 years. He still belongs to it and has donated tens of thousands of dollars to TUCC, much more than he’s given to any other charity.
How dare this Obama guy lecture me – us – on matters of race relations? I’m no Harvard grad or “community organizer” (whatever that is) but here’s my general philosophy towards people of different backgrounds than mine: love thy neighbor as thyself.
Obama clearly does not share that philosophy, as evidenced by his and his family’s lengthy and continued voluntary association with TUCC.

Paul says it all in 2 Timothy 4:
The United Church of Christ, especially Trinity, is one that has set up teachers to tell them what they want to hear, not what they should hear, which is the good news of Christ’s death and resurrection and promise of eternal life.
Who says the Bible isnt applicable today? Paul saw this stuff coming and warned about it.
