I don't know if this about Bush's ability to judge character or not. I am in my 50's and every president has had people do something like this. In fact Bush has had less of it than most.

Remember Meese, Caspar, Poindexter, Regan...I like Ollie North, but that got pretty sticky too. And that was under Reagan.

And then there is Nixon, look at how that ended.

And then Clinton had all kinds of people being indicted and in jail and writing books.

No, I think it goes with the territory.

The more we agonize over reasons for going to war in Iraq the more we as a nation look like a rabid dog trying to eat itself...and the more we show weakness of character to our enemies and friends...The facts are that the entire world including Bill Clinton, Wes Clark, Richard Clark, the UN, and the majority of Congress thought that Sadaam Hussein had WMDs and that he would eventually use them or provide them to terrorists like al Qaeda to use...The pre-9-11 mindset, not policy, was containment. The post 9-11 policy was pre-emptive strike and again the majority of Congress were in line with the new Bush doctrine for the post 9-11 world. What is so hard to understand? The MSM have subverted these facts for six years and with Scotty McClellan's help, the story goes on...

Yeah I go on that site and see plenty of conservative books. Hell they even had Natan Sharansky featured, whose previous book was the inspiration for Bush's second inaugural, and one of the biggest Democracy Spreaders there are. Maybe he is in on the conspiracy for global communism, secretly with Bush, in this super secret bircher-esque conspiracy. You people are too paranoid. I too believe we have to combat the influential socialists but we shouldn't lose our sanity.

The bottom line is fictionalized sensationalism to sell books. Loyalty, honor and morality be damned.

Good point. Now I know why the Bible is so popular. I especially like the part about "morality be damned".

That's about all I can add to this thread. These conspiracy theorists with their Soros paranoia are going to cause a shortage of tinfoil. What's next with these Alex Jones like theories?

Soros runs a global propaganda campaign.
Soros wrote McCain-Feingold (Though many of you are voting for Soros's puppet if that is the case)
Soros did 9/11.
Soros shot JFK.
Soros caused the housing crisis.

All the Soros stuff, along with the flowcharts and pyramids is rather amusing. All you guys did is replace "illuminati" and "the Jooos" with Soros. It's really not even that creative of a conspiracy theory. He is a Socialist a-hole but trying to make him out as having some kind of monopoly on Domestic Political Affairs is laughable. Oh I hear Soros rides around in a black helicopter putting flouride in water supplies. We all know that politicians and the global elite only get involved in political affairs for the love of their country, damn the billions of dollars that are on the line for every decision. Bush and his cabinet are very close to oil and a few contractors, and their profits have been through the roof since he took office, but he only loves his country and "God". Medicare Part D greatly helped pill makers and many of the people who helped push that bill through have gone on to work for them, but they only passed the bill out of love for their country and old people.

I’m with Rudy on this one. In the end, no one will remember McClellan, even with the dishy memoir.

I'd be inclined to agree, if not for the probability that this book will be on the required reading list of leftist University Professors throughout the land.

Moreover, the fact that George Soros owns McClellan's publishing company is not an insignificant detail. Just imagine if someone like Richard Mellon Scaife were to publish an anti-Obama tome. That would be the headline.

People need to understand that the Marxists still want to fulfill the words Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev said while addressing Western ambassadors at a reception at the Polish embassy in Moscow on November 18, 1956:

Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you.

On August 24, 1963, Khrushchev remarked in his speech in Yugoslavia:

I once said, 'We will bury you,' and I got into trouble with it. Of course we will not bury you with a shovel. Your own working class will bury you.

Unfortunately, the Cold War is not over. Since the 1848 Communist Manifesto, the Communists have been trying to turn the USA into a Socialist country. They made a lot of strides in the 20th century. They are still at war with us, from both within and without.

Excellent post, yet again.

Soros came close to helping John Kerry win in 2004.

All the more reason why people should be concerned about the Soros-McCain connections:

If the "presumptive" nominees of the Republican and Democrat parties are both supported by Soros, how difficult is it to see that Soros would win either way?

I am still waiting to see some specifics on this "propaganda" claim concerning pre-war intelligence.

This is starting to come across as another "Downing St.Memo"incident with supposed earth shattering revelations without facts and substance to back them up.

If you don't mention every single person's opinion it's is called "cherry picking" intelligence.

If you discuss and lay the ground work for a possible military action, it is called a "rush to war"and "fixing the intelligence".

If you define your reasoning and debunk arguments for the rationales of your decisions, then put them together to relay to the American people in a coherent manner,it is called "propaganda".

To have the media and the democratic party who hails Mr. propaganda himself Micheal Moore as a hero,to point fingers
and jump on these accusations is hypocrisy in it's highest form.

I think these points are also relevant to McClellan's credibility:

http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/24861380/

McClellan said he still admires the man, even if it appears less likely that he'll be invited to the Bush ranch in Crawford any time soon.

“I continue to have great affection for George W. Bush today,” McClellan said. “He absolutely cares very passionately about what he talks about, which is the freedom agenda and spreading democracy throughout the Middle East. It’s a very idealistic and ambitious vision, and that was really the driving motivation that pushed him forward in Iraq — this chance to, in his view, to really transform the Middle East by making Iraq a linchpin for spreading democracy."

This is what you say about a man you accuse of putting you
up in front of America to lie about going to war?

GET REAL!!

“My hope is that by writing this book and sharing openly and honestly what I learned is that in some small way it might help us move beyond the partisan warfare of the past 15 years. There’s a larger purpose to this book. It’s about looking at the permanent campaign culture in Washington, D.C., and how we can move beyond it,” he said.

Yea right, nothing to do with money or payback.
Standing up and telling the world all the claimed lies and manipulation for years in a Republican administration and then coming back in an election year and towing the democratic line on Bush is supposed to move us "beyond partisan warfare".

That's like attending a church for 20 years that preaches an ideology that promotes the genocide of the white race ane
yelling "God Dam# America" from the pulpit is supposed to lay the ground work for improving race relations.

White House adviser Dan Bartlett, who appeared after McClellan on TODAY, said he still considers McClellan a friend but believes his former colleague resorted to the same rhetoric in the book that McClellan claims to disdain. He said McClellan makes bold claims about the administration “shading the truth” and deceiving the public in Iraq, but provides little evidence.

As usual, the press don't care about facts if it fits their
agenda.

Carole Keeton Strayhorn, was the first woman elected mayor of Austin and was elected as the Texas Comptroller in 1998. She ran for governor of Texas in 2006 but finished third in a five-way race.

yea right, she and her son have no axe to grind since the GOP backed another candidate, leaving her high and dry.

McClellan’s father, Barr McClellan, was an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board and then for the Federal Power Commission under Democratic President Lyndon Johnson. Barr McClellan also wrote a book about power and Washington: “Blood, Money & Power: How LBJ Killed JFK.” Published in 2003, the book claims that Texas attorney — and Barr McClellan’s former boss — Ed Clark masterminded the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

If Scott can't verify and back up these accusations,I hope the White House goes after this with both barrels.

"Scott, we now know, is disgruntled about his experience at the White House," she(Perino) said. "For those of us who fully supported him, before, during and after he was press secretary, we are puzzled. It is sad. This is not the Scott we knew."

She said that Bush was told of some of the excerpts but would not be commenting on them because "he has more pressing matters than to spend time commenting on books by former staffers."

or maybe they won't.

McClellen’s father once wrote a book that said, definitively, that LBJ was responsible for assassinating JFK!

...

Bottomline, McClellen ... comes from a Nutbag family.

I learned today (via a Drudge link) that Scott McClellan’s father wrote:

Blood, Money & Power: How L.B.J. Killed J.F.K.
by Barr McClellan
Publisher: Hannover House (October 2003)

What's interesting to me about this is:
What if the father's book was right, but they are using the son's book to discredit the father?
The Marxists accomplish two goals at the same time...Democrats will believe Scott's book and try to use it against Republicans in this election...Republicans will discredit the book and it's author - thereby working to also discredit his father and his father's book. The Marxists kill two birds with one stone...discredit Republicans and discredit Barr McClellan at the same time.

sarc: Good going, Scott! /sarc

How much money did they pay Scott to make it worth his while to (inadvertently) discredit his own father? Useful idiot indeed.

Let me make this easy for you by connecting the dots in short, simple sentences:

The publisher of Scott McClellan's book is PublicAffairs. PublicAffairs is part of Perseus Books. Perseus Books in part of Perseus LLC,. Perseus LLC is is owned by George Soros and his partner Frank H. Pearl. Right. :))))) It's not like he obviously was under tremendous pressure to speak in support of the President when the content of the book became known.

This is about more than money, it’s about advancing a Leftist agenda.

That's right- McClellan, Clarke, O'Neill and anyone who criticiezs Bush or the White House is either pushing an agenda or trying to make a cheap buck.

On the other hand, those who convey the great genius of the Bush administration have much better motives and are messengers of the truth.

Just to clarify, when I said, "This is about more than money, it’s about advancing a Leftist agenda." I was referring to the publisher, not Scott McClellan. No doubt that for McClellan it was about the money, and since Perseus Books is owned by billionaires Frank Pearl and George Soros, it's a safe bet to assume he was paid very handsomely indeed.
